Top selling toys in Japan for week of 3/23 to 3/29
Looks like Bandai finished March on a high note by releasing a bunch of new Gundam stuff as well as their continued Sentai domination. Plus game cards keep being big sellers and... Star Wars?
Here's the ranking:
Overall
- (↑) Shuriken Sentai Ninninjer Ninja Ichibantou (Bandai)
- (↑) Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V Premium Pack 17 booster cards (Konami)
- (→) Shuriken Sentai Ninninjer DX Shurikenjin (Bandai)
- (↑) Yo-Kai Watch Yo-Kai Pad (Bandai)
- (New) DMR-16極 Dual Masters Dragon Saga Chapter 4 Super Battle Guynext x Goku (Tomy)
Hobby
- (New) Gundam FIX Figuration Metal Composite Banshee Norn (Awake) (Bandai)
- (New) 1/100 MG Gundam Double X (Bandai)
- (↓) Gundam Build Fighter Try HGBF 1/144 Wing Gundam Zero Honoo (Bandai)
- (New) 1/32 Avante Jr. Yellow Special (Clear Body) (VS Chassis) Mini 4WD Limited (Tamiya)
- 1/12 Star Wars R2-D2 & R5-D4 (Bandai)
Bandai owns seven of the 10 spots this week, not quite the eight of the previous week, but definitely an impressive feat. I'm a little surprised to see Star Wars rank, but with the current spike in popularity I suppose Japan is feeling the Episode VII hype. One thing I have learned is that these are pretty unpredictable rankings. Gundam doing well isn't a surprise, but I would have thought figma Sinon from Sword Art Online II (released 3/25) would have at least sold better than the droids. Who knew?
Hopefully we'll have the results for the month of March soon, looking forward to those!
