Lechery's Tamaki lightens up a little
Black and red not your thing? If for some reason Lechery's lovely Tamaki didn't resonate with you, they're back again with another version that might be a bit more to your liking. They're no secret to color swapped figures, and even Tamaki isn't safe from making you pick between multiple choices. In this case, fans of brighter offerings may enjoy this pink and white "Pop" version instead.
You've got all the same qualities of the original, complete with castoffable top, only this time she's switched colors. Personally, given her red hair and fair complexion, I don't think this one suits her nearly as much as the original does. It's still hard to find fault in a well-made Tamaki, however, so you may want to keep an eye on her. After all, as fantastic as the original is, more options can never be a bad thing! Like the previous, you'll have until July to decide which of these ladies gets your ¥9,000.

Miyazawa Model Expo 31: Griffon
There were no major new announcements from Griffon at the Expo but they did bring along quite a few samples of recently announced and colored figures. Yozora and Mashiro went up for preorder recently and both are looking good, but I've got to single out the rendition of Hibari from Senran Kagura for simply being the most rubbish figure I've seen in ages. Not only is it in questionable taste, the face is simply appalling and those hands look pretty rough as well.
One new bit of info that did jump out though was a front shot of the recently teased Noumi Kudryavka, bringing the somewhat surprising revelation that she's actually a swimsuit figure. The combination of school swimsuit, cape, hat, and thigh highs is unusual to say the least, but at least it's something a little different? I'm interested to see her coloured at least.

Miyazawa Model Expo 31: Evolution Toy
This is some pretty deep stuff that Evolution Toy is getting into with their display for Miyazawa Model Expo 31, but I'm going to keep things simple knowing not everyone is a mechahead.
First and foremost: It's Albegas! Hailing from the anime series of the same name this is a bot, or three bots, with some history. The anime originally began in Japan in 1983 and ran for about a year. In all likelihood it would have been lost to obscurity like so many other mecha shows of the '80s, but then World Events Productions (WEP) came calling. This was the time when WEP was making their rounds in Japan looking for some random robot shows they could mash together for a quick buck to make what we know and love now as Voltron. Albegas was slated to be the third part of the series, but Lion Voltron turned out to be so popular that they opted to make new episodes of that rather than use Albegas. Matchbox even released an Albegas figure set as Gladiator Voltron or Voltron II. The show never did see release in North America in any form, though the series did find its way to parts of South America in the late '80s and early '90s.
So here we are 30 years later and Evolution Toy is ready to bring the big guy back. The name Albegas comes from the names of the three individual robots that form him: Black Alpha Robo, blue Beta Robo, and red Gamma Robo. The combined Albegas is made by stacking torsos and mixing the orders of the legs. Proper combinations dictate that the top torso color is the same as the upper leg color while the lowest torso color is used for the front of the lower leg. Matchbox suggested using all six arms at once which looked a little strange. As a Voltron fan I really want on of these, but the price might be an issue. Evolution Toys often prices their stuff over ¥10,000 and there's basically three figures here with lots of parts so that could be an issue. It's a little strange that they don't have any pictures of the individual bots, but surely they wouldn't skimp and not included the couple parts needed to make them.
Hey, look, it's Danguard Ace (the yellow prototype). This guy's been popular for a long time and every so often a new figure appears of him. This, however, is bad timing on Evolution Toy's part as Bandai is also making a Danguard Ace that will certainly be hard to top. This one is still pretty early on, the sculpting doesn't even look finished so maybe it's not entirely fair to compare it to the other one just yet. What we can see looks pretty good and I love big chunky fists on my robot toys so this could be good.
Next up we see Evolution Toy's new Mach Baron figure (the red one). This one is actually from a live action tokusatsu series rather than an anime. It's an upgraded version of Super Robot Red Baron and ran in the mid '70s in Japan. For whatever reason Spain renamed him Mazinger Z which is hilarious since he looks nothing like Mazinger Z. Between Red Baron and Mach Baron, Red Baron is the one that seems to get all of the merchandise so I'm sure this release will make a lot of fans really happy. For me, however, it's a lot of red, really too much, but it looks well made. It's a lot of money, too: ¥12,390.
The last two come courtesy of manga god Mitsuteru Yokoyama. Everyone knows Tetsujin 28 (the blue one) or perhaps better known as Gigantor in these parts so I'll skip the details on that one. The figure looks like the big barrel people know him for and it looks like he has added foot articulation so that's a plus. He's priced at ¥10,290. The second bot is Poseidon (the silver bot) from the series Babel II. This one looks to be based on the TV series version in the original manga's lighter colors. The figure includes the hidden weapon in his arm and chest, but I'm not too crazy about the big joint on the elbow which I'm pretty certain isn't supposed to be there. Also included are tiny little figures of the boy Babel II and the panther-like Lodem. Kinda wish the aforementioned Tetsujin 28 got that same treatment. Price looks to be ¥11,340.
Some good stuff, but really for me it's all about Albegas. I really need that figure!
