Miyazawa Model Expo 31: figma and Max Factory poseables
Max Factory's presence at Miyazawa Model Expo 31 was, predictably, one that included lots of figmas. There's not a whole lot that's particularly new here on the figma front. Once more, we've got Yagami Hayate, Guts from Berserk! and Isshiki Akane from Vividred Operation. figma Bruce Lee returns for another close-up, and Madoka's Sakura Kyouko appears in a non-school uniform version. Finally, Time Scoop Hunter's Sawajima Yuuichi becmoes the latest live-action character to get a figma made of them, and I have a feeling he'll be more popular as a base for sculptors than any of the other figma at the show.
But it's not all figma: Max Factory also showed off a series of 1/72-scale poseable figures from Taiyō no Kiba Daguramu (Fang of the Sun Dougram), a 1981-83 anime series. The three armors featured are Dougram, Abitate T-10B "Blockhead," and Soltic H8 "Roundfacer". I'm not sure if these figures are a part of Max Factory's anniversary celebration like Belldandy was or not, but it's something I sure wasn't expecting!

Stu Witter: Q&A + Seen @ ToyConUK 2013
Here's a quick round of Q&As with Stu Witter post-ToyConUK, with a headsup that he will be listing his Dunny Customs on show on the day online for sales somewhen. Hit up his Facebook for possible updates and check out his online shop to sate your toy-desires! Meanwhile…
TOYSREVIL: How was the ToyCon for you? Your impressions? Was it what you expected it to be? Was this your first Con?
STU WITTER: Toycon was my first con, I didn't quite know what to expect ... But the room full of familiar faces was welcoming! The time went fast and the event was fairly exclusive. It would be nice to see a bigger crowd next year.
TOYSREVIL: Tell us what you had on your table! And which of your items had the warmest reception / best response?
STU WITTER: I was lucky enough to borrow back some of my work from collectors and had a fair display which included 10 new 1930s dunny commissions. I also was selling 10 dunny customs and burgerman pizza slices. The most interest was in my custom works - I wish I had made more small pieces as they seemed to be the most popular.
TOYSREVIL: Any suggestions to make the event even more awesome in the future?
STU WITTER: I would like to see a custom competition next year... And a bigger venue!

The Tarantulas: Q&A + Seen @ ToyConUK 2013
With the inaugural ToyConUK at an end, I bugged The Tarantulas for a quick round of Q&As (along with images (mostly) courtesy of Dolly Oblong), and the headsup that a handful of Nibblers left will be listed via http://unknowns.limitedrun.com on Friday … meanwhile, Read-ON!
TOYSREVIL: How was the ToyCon for you? Your impressions? Was it what you expected it to be? Was this your first Con?
THE TARANTULAS: ToyCon totally lived up to expectation - the venue & atmosphere were great and a lot of serious toy business going on.. Wasn't my first con, I've been to the big US conventions but this was probably closer to a Japanese Super/ Wonderfestival - lots to see but a smaller scene type feel & really knowledgeable punters!
TOYSREVIL: Tell us what you had on your table! And which of your items had the warmest reception / best response?
THE TARANTULAS: Fishtank Castle LIVE had x3 exclusive new versions of the Real x Nibbler plus an old resin favourite & the last copies of my 1983 Fishtank Castle Annual. Plus we had Ralph Niese bringing his comics, LIVE sketchcards and his incredible hand painted customs.. Response was great - Ralph is such a talent it made the booth to have him there…
TOYSREVIL: Any suggestions to make the event even more awesome in the future?
THE TARANTULAS: I've spoken to the organisers and they have things sorted - they have real credibility already & I think if a few artists make the trip from the US & Japan next year that would = more awesome :)
