Pre-order open for the next Kotobukiya Cu-poche, Madoka
Is it Madoka day or something? Well, at least it's not Ultimate Madoka? Kotobukiya's second entry into their new Cu-poche poseable line of super deformed figures is now available for pre-order.
Just like the figure lines it is competing against, the 110mm tall Cu-poche Madoka will include different faces and hands but will only come with one accessories. On the plus side, she'll also come with Kyubey. The figure will also offer a little more over other lines with the bendable joints allowing you to do a little more with your poses.
Cu-poche Madoka is retailing for ¥3,800 and will be available in April, 2013. Is anyone interested in this new line by Kotobukiya?

Castle Grayskull pre-orders now open + retro commercial
Matty Collector has opened pre-orders for its new Castle Grayskull. While I still have mixed feelings about the castle after seeing its specs at NYCC (mostly in regards to the US$250 price tag), I imagine for many people pre-ordering this approximately 25-inch tall display piece (made specifically to suit the Masters of the Universe Classics line) may have been a no-brainer.
Pre-orders will run from today until November 10th when, if Mattel's minimum goal hasn't been reached, the product will be canceled (no refunds will need to be issued because the money won't be collected until around a month before the product would actually ship). However, should the goal be achieved, pre-orders period will conclude on January 3rd.
While US$250 seems like a fair deal of money, I imagine that it's one of those collectible items that may gain value down the road. Anybody planning on picking this one up? Also, be sure to check out the vintage commercial for the original Castle Grayskull play-set after the jump then remember that this one will be quite a bit larger.

NYCC 2012: Jaina Solo and the Astromechs
It wouldn't be a complete tour of the Kotobukiya booth at NYCC without highlighting some of the Star Wars-related merchandise they had on display! And of course, that means the gorgeous upcoming Star Wars Bishoujo Jaina Solo statue along with a few lovely-looking droids.
Jaina has some lovely details to her figure, and going by Brian's pictures here her clothing looks so very realistic! Her release is slated for November this year, so fans don't have long at all to wait for this beauty.
As for the Astromechs, you'll see a nice variety here including R2-Q5 (black), R2-R9 (red), R2-C4 (yellow), and R2-M5 (white), which are all set for Summer 2013 releases.
Check out the gallery for pictures of all I've mentioned above.

Plex's D.P.C.F. Naruto and Chopper Knight now colored
Plex has been pretty steadily adding entries to their D.P.C.F. line, even going as far as adding in the license to Naruto characters. The man himself is the first prototype which was shown, and Emerje already wrote recently about the possibility we'll also be seeing Sakura, Sasuke and Kakashi in figure form in the future. For today though, we've got updated images of Naruto, now colored! He looks fantastic. Seriously, this is a love letter to all Naruto fans everywhere, old and new. His price is set at ¥7,600.
As for Chopper, he's looking mighty noble and adorable. Even though he's 1/7-scale, being a small character he's small enough that the price is only ¥3,500. His short stature doesn't indicate any detail was spared in the design though, as you'll note in the gallery. His helmet appears to be moveable, too.
Both of these figures are slated for release in December so they should really be going up for pre-order soon. I only dropped in five pictures per figure in our gallery, so for a full look see Plex's listings (Naruto | Chopper).

Art Whino's booth Notably, the one and only J*RYU was at the booth, with some interesting new customs to boot. It's not just the new little Saplings, like the lounging fellow up there: J*RYU brought some new creatures that are wrapped around glass bottles to the show, each a one-off piece. In fact, he was using one of them during a painting session on Sunday, so they look nice and have some utility!
Also at the booth were custom pieces from Josh Taylor, who brought with him the rare Dinglinger's Owl. A rare creature indeed, each owl comes with a box and looks adorable with those big ol' eyes. Josh also had some Demons on display and one very big Demon Hunter ready to strike them down; check out the gallery for all those photos!
