Volks milks the Hatsune Miku License for yet another Dollfie Dream
It has only been a few months since Volks have completed shipping their Hatsune Miku dollfie dreams to buyers, and now they are already planning the next one!
We've had a couple of additional costumes already, but in a rather uncharacteristic move, Volks is planning a whole new (hah!) release of Snow Miku... It's OK, I'll wait until the bemusement fades. One for the really die-hard Miku fans, methinks. The original was a limited run dollfie but anyone who put in a pre-order during that window was guaranteed to get one: it wasn't like she was an event/lottery exclusive, so there are not likely to be many fans out there who missed out on the first release. The timing strikes me as odd as well since it's really close to when they finished sending out all the orders for vanilla Miku and this is essentially just a recolour...
Still, if you want to grab a Dollfie Dream Snow Miku and have access to a proxy, pre-orders at stores will start on the 7th of February until the 11th with general online reservations starting on the 14th. The final date for orders is set on the 12th of April so there's plenty of time to decide if you're still on the fence.
Me, I'll pass until they release a Racing Miku 2011 (the best racing Miku) or 2014 version. Then, I might be a little tempted.

Starscream mutilated for neat custom Hulkbuster Ultron
Pack Rat Studios has crafted a custom "Hulkbuster Ultron" and, if you like it, you can bid on it via ebay right now (or rather bid within the next 4 days).
The custom appears to be kit-bashed from a Transformers "Hunt for the Decepticons" Leader-class Starscream and an Iron Man Legends Ultron. While I can't identify the torso piece, it reminds me of something that I may have seen on one of Hasbro's Iron Man figures. It's topped off by a pretty awesome paint job on figures which originally had unremarkable paint apps.
The concept is pretty cool. Movie Starscream's design was a horrific mess that works well as a clunky Hulkbuster build. The overall design also looks surprisingly menacing and, because it's a leader-class, it's large enough to stand over most Hulk figures (be they Marvel Legends (seen in gallery) or Select).
The custom's starting bid is US$150 and, in fairness, the HftD Starscream alone is pretty expensive on the aftermarket these days (although, if you were lucky enough to catch him at TJ Maxx/Marshall's a few years aback, he was only US$25).
While I mourn for poor ol' Starscream, I can't help but think that Michael Bay did far worse to the character. Be sure to check out all of the images in the gallery.
