When I was doing a little cleaning of my craft area, which I don't do very often, I found some 3/4" wood shelf sitter shapes that my husband had cut out for me a few years ago. I had intended to make a painted figure of some sort out of them.
Well, in looking at the wood I thought they might make perfect mixed media shelf sitter Santa's with collage faces and collage embellished outfits. So, I decided to make two of them.
Santa Blue - 4" x 5" x 3/4" Handmade Mixed Media Shelf Sitter Paper-Clay and Collage Santa
Santa Blue and his twin, Santa Maybe just love the holiday season, but much prefer to be dressed in their blue outfits versus the traditional red outfits. They just think the color blue suits them better.
Santa Blue is a 4" x 5" x 3/4" mixed media shelf sitter wood doll with a collage face, sponge painted wood body and paper collage embellished Santa outfit. His sides and back are sponge painted in winter colors of blue and white and his outfit is an embellished paper collage adorned with snow accents, raised white and blue dots, and crinkly blue paper scarf. He has bushy white eyebrows, a trimmed white mustache, and a bushy beard made with alpaca yarn from Sunflower at Rock Garden Alpacas Fiber. His collage embellished Santa hat is covered with snow.
The only time Santa Blue and Santa Maybe dress in their red outfits is on Christmas Eve. They love their blue outfits, but wouldn't want to disappoint the kids. So red it is on Christmas Eve.
