Funko adds even more Frankenstein to its Hikari line
Funko this week announced plans to release another two Frankenstein redecos to its Hikari line. The funky, eye-catching "Glitter Shock" Frankenstein (limited to 1,200 pieces) features a translucent, glittery design while the Entertainment Earth "Distressed" Frankenstein (600 pieces) sports a more antique look. Sufficed to say, they're both very neat designs.
Glitter Shock Frankenstein can be ordered for US$50 while the premium Distressed version will run you US$80. Both are slated to come out later this year. If you want a chance to win one, head over to Funko's Facebook page.

Gaming Heads returns to Tamriel with a High Elf statue
Gaming Heads has continued its line of Elder Scrolls statues with a new 1/6-scale Elder Scrolls Online High Elf . This 15.5-inch tall statue comes in both a standard version for US$310 (limited to 1,000 pieces) and an exclusive variant with a light-up version of that magical orb for US$340 (limited to 500 pieces).
While I likely won't ever get into the Elder Scrolls MMO, I've been a fan of the franchise for a few games now and am always happy to see more ES merch (albeit I wish it would come in the form of something more articulate). That said, I can't say that I like the look of the seemingly androgynous High Elf whose somewhat masculine face made the rest of her body confusing at first (Even more confusing? The fact that a typo in the details referred to the High Elf as a "him" (see gallery) which I noticed before seeing the feminine pronouns). The face looks more feminine from some angles (such as an overhead), but it's still something that Gaming Heads could have done a little better on.
Otherwise the armor detailing and paint both look great while the glowing magic orb (via a built-in LED) is a very cool effect. For the most part, she's a pretty great-looking statue. Both versions are slated for a second quarter release and can be purchased either via a one-time payment or through part of a payment plan.

Pre-orders open for Playstation Optimus, no tv connections required
Takara Tomy's hotly anticipated Playstation Optimus Prime is now available for pre-order. The Autobot leader looks even better than the first color images had suggested and even features painted connection ports on his back.
While I'm not sure that I necessarily like Optimus more than the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) Megatron, I find the design quite a bit more impressive the more we see of it. Like many of my colleagues, I also would have preferred that Optimus Prime's alt mode be a Super Nintendo (thus evoking the 16-bit console wars) although I suppose a SNES might work nicer with Soundwave from a logistical standpoint as Laserbeak, Rampage, and so forth could be used as cartridges.
At a ¥10,000 list price, I doubt that I'll bother picking up the Playstation Optimus Prime but I imagine that more eager (and less frugal) fans may jump on these pre-orders

GIANT-SIZE JAPANESE #BATMAN TIN TOY ROBOT Spotted in Thailand!
Check Out This New Giant-Sized Promo Sign that is now in front of THE BAT-CAT TOY MUSEUM in Thailand. It's a flat-huge super-sharp color photo representation of the Vintage 1960's Japanese BATMAN Tin Toy Robot by Nomura!
This thing is SO awesome! But personally, I think it would look better in my backyard, near the pool.

#BATMAN THEME MUSIC VIDEO - Evolution of the #Batmobile by The Piano Guys!
#BATMAN Toy Collector and Retail News
Retail News? OK, I wasn't sure how to title this post but it's mostly about some brand-new "Batman" products that are either out now or coming soon.
First off, we got these super-cute little wood figures of DC Comics Superheroes. The set includes: Batman, Robin, Superman, Wonder Woman and The Joker! These are available at Pottery Barn.
Next, the British UK Toy Company that makes that series of "Automobilia" Batmobiles just issued a photo of their next release. It's Batman Car # 48 in their series and it originally appeared in Detective Comics #597, which was from 1989.
Then, last but not least. Here's a product that is probably NOT in stores, nor ever will be again. This is the new "Batman" T-Shirt that has got a lot of hype and bad press.
DC Comics made this shirt for Wal-Mart Stores to sell and some Neo-Feminists fought against it saying it's totally sexist because it says, "Training To Be Batman's Wife". OK, I think that "training a wife" is BAD IDEA but if you're getting married to Batman then you need Batarang Skills, Side of Building Climbing Skills, Martial Arts Skills, etc... I mean, you WOULD have to go through training, ha!
So, DC Comics caved in and apologized, then Wal-Mart pulled it from the shelves. GIRL POWER!
