Tomy Takara Disney CARS: Shu, Mach & Pitty
Rita Repulsa won't let a headache get in way of appearing in a blind-boxed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers line
Finally, after 10,000 years she's free... to be imprisoned in a tiny box. The villainous Rita Repulsa (and hubby, Lord Zedd!) will be starring in The Loyal Subjects' upcoming blind-boxed Mighty Morphin Power Rangers line.
The line will apparently feature the original five Rangers, two versions of Tommy (as the Green Ranger and as the White Ranger), Rita Repulsa, Lord Zedd, Goldar, and a chase rare mystery Ranger. The Power Rangers will apparently feature over-sized, removable helmets.
Although I would have preferred normal-sized, interchangeable helmets, the core concept is still very cool and I like the fact that we have this level of customization available. If that wasn't cool enough, the figures even appear to be articulate! The designs themselves are seriously cute and I like the chosen line-up, particularly because Rita hasn't seen a lot of merchandise over the years and Zedd has always been awesome.
These blind-boxed 3-inch tall figures are apparently slated for an August release. BBTS currently has the individual packs listed at US$13 each.

Overture to a Dream
DC Collectibles has apparently provided Bloody Disgusting (of all places!) with an exclusive first look at the completed The Sandman: Overture Dream statue that was announced late last year. The 11.25-inch tall statue will be available in both a regular painted and a limited edition Patina ("bronze") version.
As much as I like the steps and robes turned out on the painted standard version, I prefer the Patina because I'm not fond of the way the standard version's head turned out. The sculpting looks great and it's something of a neat pose for the character.
Both versions of the statue are slated for a September release. The standard will run you around US$150 while the limited edition Patina version will cost around US$300. The Patina version is limited to a 100-piece run and will include a certificate of authenticity signed by Neil Gaimon.

Help this Lost Maiamai find a home
I know quite a few amigurumi enthusiasts who are fond of Ravelry. The site's pattern database is massive and its network of helpful users is a godsend. Plus, every so often you find a pattern that just leaps out at you as something brilliant and fun, a project begging to be made. Clara Urli's Lost Maiamai is one of those patterns.
Inspired by the wailing baby crustaceans you find while exploring Hyrule (and Lorule) in Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, this little sweetie is a crochet project for an advanced beginner. Techniques involved include increasing, decreasing, single crochet, single crochet in the front loops only, and crochet magic loop (a completely different technique than knit magic loop). The pattern is a free download for Ravelry members. Site registration itself is free; it just takes a moment. And after you have finished the Lost Maiamai, you may want to tackle Clara's free Blue Cucco pattern, inspired by Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
Any readers planning on whipping one of these up?

Tomopop Review: Crowded Coop's Imps and Monsters Clarence plush
Crowded Coop's Imps and Monsters line, created by Justin Hillgrove, was one that I had spotted several times in crowded convention halls and online shops, but never really had a chance to get a good look at. The quirky beasts looked playful and fun, but that was about all I knew. Thankfully, I recently had the chance to examine one of the plushes, up close and personal. The toy in question was named Clarence, and I could not have been happier with my good fortune. How happy? Let me count the ways (read on and you can count along with me)!
