My distinct memory of a rolling die dates back to the on-air episode of Mahabharata. Shakuni Mama rubs the die in his hands and limps slightly while walking. I remember growing up with board games like Monopoly, Ludo, Snakes & Ladders and the common theme among these games was the rolling die.  I would wait curiously hoping it to be the desired number.

However, the 21^st century has changed the world of gaming. It is no longer a compulsion to step outdoors for a fun gaming activity. We have our iPads, Androids and other systems where gaming is available at one touch.

These interfaces have a plethora of games available. They can be board games or digital controllers. I see my kids behave like a digi-ninja as they slice the fruits or play Temple run. The kids are more technologically advanced than us.

I came across this recent development on the digital-gaming front.  The Poland's Game Technologies have developed a dice with a universal board game controller. This USB powered dice is capable of displaying numbers in 256 million colors.

This insanely fascinating Dice+ comes with a nice selection of games to get players started. The company promises to add more games coming in 2013 and early 2014, including popular existing board game properties ranging from family-friendly fare to edutainment titles to board game classics. However, its success will come down to future support for other digital board game makers.

Isn’t your idea of holding that dice totally revamped? Thanks to the amazing technological advancements.

Kotobukiya has teased a photo of what appears to be Nightwing's arm (holding an eskrima stick) along with the caption, “Just when I’ve set up my new life, my old one comes back. Well played, Gotham." This quote seems to reference the New 52 relaunch of Nightwing #1 and the figure is believed to be slated for either the ArtFX+ or ARTFX line.

Bat-fans (and others) will recall that the first Robin, Dick Grayson, adopted the persona of Nightwing when he started his "solo" crime-fighting career. He went through several costumes over the course of his career as Nightwing and this figure appears to be based on the most recent costume introduced in the New 52 continuity.

Kidrobot have posted an announcement on their blog that after 6 years, their Miami shop is closing its doors at the end of the month. No official reason was given for the closure of the store, which was located in Miami Beach, other than being "part of a plan to build their brand and get Kidrobot in more hands in more places." Read into that what you will, apparently.

Kidrobot Miami joins London and Dallas as being closed, which means that the Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boulder and Las Vegas stores are the only five left. It also makes me wonder if we'll see more pop-up stores and Kidrobot trying to sell their products at larger stores instead of running their own retail outlets.
