Pre-order GSC's Grace Plushie
Fans of Gargantia on a Verdurous planet and lovers of plushies and squirrels should take a look at Good Smile Company's Grace. If you’re scratching your head and wondering who Grace is, is that squirrel that always rides around on Amy's shoulders or head and follows her practically everywhere.
Given there is a lovely Figma and Nendoroid under development for Amy it would not surprise me that GSC may also have something larger in the works. I would say it would be silly for them not to because of how popular Amy's character design was but in any case this plush of Grace would make for a perfectly cute plushie to display alongside any Gargantia collection.
I wish there were a few more photos provided to talk about the design of Grace herself a bit more, but what can I say? She's a squirrel and has all the right markings! I also feel that Grace did a big part of bringing out Amy's expressions in the show, as they were both often animated on screen at the same time to bring a feeling across more clearly.
GSC's Grace plushie comes at an affordable suggested price of ¥1905 yen and if you like her, you won't have to wait long because she ships out in September of this year.

Barbie in the galaxy: NASA and Mattel send Barbie to Mars
It looks like Barbie will be heading to space! NASA is teaming up with Mattel to release this special Mars Explorer Barbie. This Barbie was made to commemorate the anniversary of the Mars Curiosity Rover landing.
She'll come in a white and pink spacesuit with a pink space pack and pink space boots. It seems like they've neglected to give her space gloves. Oh well, Barbie dolls are more about fashion than function so let's not nitpick.
Coming with a cardboard cutout of the Mars Curiosity Rover, this doll will represent the 2013 "Career of the Year" for Barbie. This doll sure beats every wedding Barbie ever made.

Aim for the top with Sentinel's Nono
While Diebuster, Gainax's long awaited Gunbuster sequel may have divided opinion, few could fail to warm to its delightfully energetic lead character Nono. She's been curiously under-represented in figures in recent years but fortunately Sentinel have decided to step up to the plate and add her to their RIO:bone line.
It might seem an odd choice since RIO:bone figures tend to be reserved for mech, but since (spoilers!) Nono actually is a walking combat machine, it's a perfect fit. She's depicted in her armoured Buster Machine No.7 form, and Sentinel have done a great job capturing her distinctive look and combining it with excellent detail and poseability. You'll also get the standard assortment of replacement hands (including the classic arms folded pose) and faces, plus parts to replicate her iconic leg-mounted missile racks.
It all adds up to a tempting package, especially considering Sentinel's track record of putting out excellent high-quality work. The only potential problem is the price - ¥5,715 is a lot for a small scale poseable, even though that's in line with the previous RIO:bone offerings. If you do pull the trigger, Nono will be bringing groovin' magic to your home this November.
