It's a celebration 30 years in the making! Relive the landmark comics that helped define the legacy of TRANSFORMERS and read along with the creators that made these great comics as Jim Sorenson provides insight from a range of writers and artists that breathed life into the denizens of CYBERTRON. From Marvel to Dreamwave to IDW and other iterations in-between, this book is a must have for TF collectors!
Bob Conge will be taking part in the Creatures five artist show, which opens tonight (August 9th 2013) from 6PM to 9PM at FOE Gallery in Northampton, MA. There are a number of new pieces available and on display, including the first in a new series from Plaseebo. The Great American Kaiju are inspired by […]
Thanks to IDW who have released a new 11 page preview of the Transformers: Dark Prelude, a trade paperback collecting all six of the recent Spotlight issues in one volume. Amazon has discounted the price down to $14.99, so this is a good chance to get all of these issues in one shot and be ready for when Dark Cybertron begins in the IDW ongoing titles. Amazon has posted a selection or preview images, which you can check out below.
Xbox One Can Record Gameplay Too, But You’re Gonna’ Have To Pay
Gamers hoping to record their own “Let’s Play” videos have been pretty vocal in their excitement regarding the new game recording features in the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A little nugget of info has popped up on the official Xbox site that’s sure to cheese some people off. While game recording will be free for PS4 owners, Xbox One owners will need to pay the $60/year Xbox Live Gold fee. We’ll have to wait until both consoles are released this fall to see if Microsoft’s paid service is superior to PS4’s, and if so, will it be worth the money?
Japanese fans are finally getting them some Kre-O love. Takara Tomy have launched an official Kre-O website for Japan with web-comics created by Hayato Sakamoto. The two one-pagers cover the back story of the Kre-O characters. Unfortunately for us English speaking type, the comic is in the Japanese language but still worth a look for the Transformers Japan fun goodness that is featured through out. Check out the comic pages we have mirrored below for the full look now.
Thanks to Takara Tomy's very own TF Yuki who has posted a new image of the Transformers Go! G19 Hunter Ratchet on his twitter account. Get a look at the Transformers Prime Beast Hunters Ratchet deluxe scale figure repainted as a funky puke green Decepticon character. Get a look at the figure on and off the card below.
Disclosure: I was provided with tickets for my family to see a preview of Disney Planes 3D in order to facilitate this review. Any opinions are my own. Summer is such a great time for movies, and the most recent family movie to be released is the highly anticipated flick, Disney’s Planes. Having an almost 4-year-old [...]

The Kidz Bop kids will be performing at various venues in New York and New Jersey from August 8 to 11. The kids performed at the Pre-Game show at the New York Mets game on August 8 at Citi Field. One of the members, Eva, will also be singing the National Anthem. The kids will then perform [...]

Five more (yes, five!) new dolls were revealed yesterday.
Captions and photos of the five dolls are all from the Barbie Collector site.
I would like to add the Silkstone Audrey Hepburn to my collection. The sculpt is lovely. Hopefully she looks like the promo - especially the hair. I still think it's overpriced as are all the rest of the dolls except for the vinyl Roman Holiday Audrey which is pretty cute.
The Blonds Blond Gold Barbie is pretty spectacular. But $150.? This is the type of doll that stays in her box. The only other doll I have that I've wanted to debox but didn't is the Blond's Diamond Barbie. I'm sure I wouldn't like her once she was out of the box. You can't do anything with these dolls except look at them.
Is it not time for the Wizard of Oz dolls to go away? This ridiculously overpriced vinyl, unarticulated, no eyelash doll is $100. Seriously? She has nice hair but I wonder what it will look like IRL.
Fashion critic Suzy Menkes of “The International Herald Tribune” praised Burrows as “the Master of matte jersey and colour combinations!” In addition to “Stephen Burrows World”, Burrows expanded his company to include a number of labels drawn from various points of inspiration. “S by Burrows” was created for a venture with Home Shopping Europe (HSN) in Munich, Germany, while “Everyday Girl” was inspired by Anna Cleveland, daughter to muse and model Pat Cleveland, and “SB73,” a cut and sew knit line that was developed based on Burrows’ hallmark, color-blocked creations of the seventies.
First Lady Michelle Obama's choose to wear a Burrows Jersey pantsuit to a Washington DC event. Remarking on the significance, Vogue Magazine wrote, "It was a wonderful acknowledgement of Burrows, one of the great African-American designers and a Harlem resident known for his inventive cuts and bias technique."
The Alazne Barbie was designed by Linda Kyaw but the Facial Sculpt is called Stephen Burrows. I don't know enough about this reference to understand or explain and I'm hoping my Barbie knowledgeable readers will comment. The fashion is not the type of work Burrows is known for which would have made a lot of sense. BTW, Alazne also means "she knows."
I'd like this for a doll:
We haven't heard from Kat Brunnegraff in a while, but she's sent us word of a new piece that she's just finished up. It's a little custom tokidoki Unicorno called Clouded by Crystals, with the body of the beast painted as the starry sky above the clouds. It's also got a little crystal-shaped heart painted on its chest and is crying rainbow tears. Truly, this is a magical little thing.
Kat's apparently going back and forth on whether to sell this piece or not; if she does decide to put it in her shop, we'll let you know.
It’s Friday afternoon and like all Friday’s this summer, I’m struggling to find something interesting to watch on TV. There’s only so many re-runs one can watch without actually wishing that school was back in session. In between channel surfing and lamenting on days spent in the classroom furiously copying down chemistry notes, I stumble [...]

Mega Evolution Will Transform Pokémon and Revolutionize Battles in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y
A Special Limited-Time Wi-Fi Distribution Event to Celebrate Mega Evolution Begins
Worldwide on October 12th, 2013
BELLEVUE, WA—August 9, 2013—In what could be described as an Evolution beyond all Evolutions, Mega Evolution is a new, awe-inspiring transformation certain Pokémon can undergo during battle in the highly anticipatedPokémon X and Pokémon Y video games. Pokémon that Mega Evolve will tap into hidden reserves of strength and power that have never been realized in their regular Evolutions, giving players battling with a Mega-Evolved Pokémon a dominant advantage. Mega Evolutions will revolutionize Pokémon battles and usher in a new Pokémon transformation never before seen in the Pokémon world.
Pokémon like Mega Mewtwo and Mega Lucario will harness the power of Mega Evolution in battle and will see their looks change and stats increase, giving Trainers a great advantage against their opponents. Some Pokémon that Mega Evolve may even change their Ability or type while in battle. Only certain Pokémon, under certain conditions, can Mega Evolve, and unlike regular Evolution, Mega Evolution only occurs during battle—once the battle ends, the Mega-Evolved Pokémon will return to its usual state. One crucial element to undergoing Mega Evolution is a particular kind of item called a Mega Stone. Mega Stones are special stones that exist for all Pokémon that can Mega Evolve, each named after the Pokémon to which it grants power. For instance, the Lucarionite Mega Stone will help Lucario Mega Evolve. Mega Stones are hidden throughout the Kalos region, and players must find them to unlock the incredible power of Mega Evolution.
One Mega Stone, Blazikenite, will not be found during normal gameplay in Pokémon X or Pokémon Y. Players of the new titles will need to participate in a special limited-time Wi-Fi distribution event via Nintendo Network to get a Torchic holding a Blazikenite Mega Stone. This is how players can receive the Blazikenite Mega Stone when the new titles launch. The character distribution begins October 12th, the same day Pokémon X and Pokémon Y launches worldwide for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems, and this distribution event will only last for a short period of time. Players will need to evolve the Torchic they receive via the distribution into Combusken and finally into Blaziken in order to harness the power of this Mega Stone and Mega Evolve Blaziken into Mega Blaziken.
The Torchic received in this distribution also has the Hidden Ability Speed Boost, a very powerful Ability that increases a Pokémon’s Speed at the end of every turn. This limited-time character distribution event allows players to get a Torchic with Speed Boost, which becomes incredibly effective once they Mega Evolve Blaziken into Mega Blaziken.
Brand-New Method of Pokémon Training: Super Training!
Super Training or S.T. is being introduced in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, allowing players to help their Pokémon grow stronger when they’re not in battle. On the Touch Screen of the Nintendo 3DS system, players can have their Pokémon participate in Super Training, activities that will increase a Pokémon’s base stats, the underlying values that define its HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and Speed stats.
One Super Training activity involves having Pokémon train by facing huge Pokémon-shaped Balloon Bots in a virtual space, with both sides trying to shoot balls into the opponent’s goal. Using the Circle Pad and Touch Screen to avoid shots from the Balloon Bots while landing their own in the goal, players will enjoy this action-packed feature while increasing their Pokémon’s base stats to help them become stronger for battle.
For a more casual way to help Pokémon strengthen their base stats, Core Training lets players set up training bags, earned by completing Super-Training Regimens, for Pokémon in their party to use. Pokémon will work on Core Training by themselves, raising their stats on their own. By tapping on the Touch Screen during a Core Training session, players can help their Pokémon increase their base stats, too. Players will be able to see how their Pokémon are doing at their Core Training at any time from the main Super Training screen.
More never-before-seen Pokémon that players will encounter in the Kalos region have been announced this morning by The Pokémon Company International. You can check them out at Pokemon.com/XY.
· By emitting radio waves from its antenna-shaped whiskers, new Electric- and Fairy-type Pokémon Dedenne can communicate with far-off allies. It can also plug its tail into outlets to drain electricity from them. Its Ability,Cheek Pouch, is new to Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. If a Pokémon with this Ability eats a Berry during battle, it will not only reap the benefit from the Berry, but the Pokémon will also be able to regain HP. Dedenne can learn the new Electric-type move Nuzzle, which looks cute as the user nuzzles up to a target with its cheeks fully charged, but it’s quite dangerous! Nuzzle will do damage while paralyzing the opponent.
· Bunnelby is a new Normal-type Pokémon that creates its den by digging in the ground with its large, shovel-shaped ears. These powerful ears are strong enough to chop right through thick tree roots, making them a force to be reckoned with in battle. Bunnelby can learn the Ground-type move Dig. On the first turn, the user burrows underground, and on the second turn, it attacks! In Double Battles, a Pokémon can use Dig to avoid its ally’s attack and then dish out damage on the next turn.
· It is now known that Skiddo evolves into the already announced Gogoat. A Grass-type Pokémon, Skiddo has a gentle nature and is said to be the first Pokémon to live alongside humans. Because of this relationship, Skiddo doesn’t mind carrying people or supplies on its back, and it has become able to read the feelings of its riders through their grip on its horns. Skiddo can learn the Grass-type move Leaf Blade, where the user wields a sharp leaf to slice like a sword.
Introducing Gym Leader Korrina
Korrina is the Gym Leader in Shalour City, a seaside town known for its amazing views. It’s also home to the Tower of Mastery, which seems to have a connection to Mega Evolution. Gym Leader Korrina seeks to draw out her Pokémon’s strength to reach still greater heights, and it’s said that she may hold the key to Mega Evolution! In addition to being a Gym Leader, Korrina is a fantastic roller skater.

Around this time last year we saw an utterly amazing Rivendell in Lego form, though it was certainly the stuff of legends and not something you'd ever imagine picking up on a shelf. Enter Flickr user Paul, aka Disco86. Focusing on a much tinier part of the outpost, he's brought the famed Council of Elrond to gorgeously detailed life.
You won't find a character out of place in the scene, and both the architecture and plant life have been recreated with surprising detail. I'm loving the golden tree used and what seem to be vines creeping down the side. I've got to agree with one Flickr commenter as well that the roofing is amazing in its simplicity.
The best part, of course, is while the scene is certainly complex, it's compact and features one key moment from the saga, and you wouldn't think it remotely out of place if it were added to the existing Lord of the Rings sets. Paul didn't stop here either, with some truly great depictions of Shelob and a Nazgul, along with a few other scenes you'd do well to check out!
