I've never particularly liked swimsuit figures.
Now, before everyone gets up in arms, this is not intended as a judgement call on those who *do* like them. That's cool! But personally, they've always made me a little uncomfortable, even though we get exposed to an awful lot of NSFW stuff in this job. That's not to say that I can't appreciate a good figure when one shows up though. And from the moment we first saw Kotobukiya's bikini clad Mikoto Misaka (from A Certain Scientific Railgun) I thought she looked fantastic. So what better way to dip a toe into the world of sporty ladies not wearing much?
The toy industry is all about surprises. Don’t believe me? Just ask Diamond Select Toys about their Toy Fair 2014 reveals. Out of nowhere DST surprised Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans with their new TMNT vinyl bust banks. As one would expect, these new TMNT banks of the four Ninja Turtle brothers are based on […]

There are quite a few characters in the Star Wars universe that I am a big fan of and Jedi Master Yoda is most definitely one of them. A couple of weeks ago I was shopping on Sideshow’s website and found Yoda, so I just had to have him. I ended up picking up the regular […]

Sideshow Collectibles Yoda Jedi Master Sixth Scale Figure Review
As a huge nerd for all things Adventure Time and Magic: The Gathering related, my body and soul reacted in unusually provocative ways to this deck of Magic cards altered with Adventure Time art.
As a die-hard Vorthos (look it up), there’s so much attention to detail to appreciate in these. For instance, the artwork for Ogre Battledriver normally depicts a giant beast whipping his minions to do his bidding. The Adventure Time version, on the other hand, shows Xergiok, the jerkface goblin king who was driven out of his kingdom by Finn and Jake for smacking on goblin hams like the true jerk that he is.
There’s loads of other cool stuff too like Flame Princess as Young Pyromancer, little flame dudes as red elementals, and even Finn wearing Jake like a suit for Titan’s Strength. Check out the gallery below.
And they even made this super slick playmat to keep the cards looking minty fresh. It’s an homage to the Card Wars episode.
Speaking of Card Wars, did you know Card Wars is now a real thing you can buy and play with your friends? There’s a Finn vs Jake deck and a BMO vs Lady Rainicorn. They were originally priced around $20, but on account of them being sold out everywhere and everyone wanting them because they’re awesome, expect to pay around $50 for the Finn & Jake one and almost $80 for BMO vs Lady. Craziness.

Lately the LEGO creations I’ve been seeing have really been amazing me. My favorite this week comes from Adly Syairi Ramly who has been taking LEGO figures and turning them into iconic musical groups. His recreations are really good at capturing each band.
So here we have LEGO figures of No Doubt, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, The Smiths, Muse, Backstreet Boys, Michael Jackson and Daft Punk. Don’t worry, these are just some of my personal favorites, but Ramly made many more. On his Twitter you can find more of his work, and as a self proclaimed LEGO junkie, I’m sure he’ll be making more.
