Bookish Drossel Charming is my number one
It's tough for me to resist bookish figures these days, and this lovely Drossel Charming Nendoroid by Good Smile Company is hitting all the right notes with me. Drossel was already adorable as she is, but now she comes with glasses and a book she can grip and read, and yeah, pretty much sold. Oh, and she comes with a few other accessories, plus the light-up feature.
This figure is slated for a November release and is going to retail for ¥4,800, a bit higher than the usual Nendoroid fare. I suppose all those optional parts pushed it up.

Proud As A Peacock Of Baby Sister
I know that I've mentioned that my baby sister loves to garden and joined a garden club last year. Well, being a new member she was asked to create the garden clubs display for the Chenango Country Fair this year. The theme for her category was "On The Front Porch" so she decided to combine her love of flowers with her other passion - quilting and created the sunflower display you see above.
Well, baby sister not only did well but took the top three awards:
1st Place in Class (Section B "On The Front Porch" - Class 4 "The Sampler")
Awarded the Novice Award (The Novice Award may be awarded to the highest scoring exhibit in a class designated for a first time exhibitor or someone who hasn’t won a blue ribbon in the Design Division of a Chenango County Fair Standard Flower Show.) Awarded by the Local Garden Clubs
AWARD OF DESIGN EXCELLENCE (NATIONAL GARDEN CLUBS TOP EXHIBITOR AWARDS DIVISION) - May be awarded to an exhibit scoring 95 or above entered by a single exhibitor, judged the finest in the entire Design Division. Only 1 Award of Design Excellence MAY be awarded.
Needless to say I couldn't be prouder of her. Proud as a peacock you could say.
CONGRATULATIONS baby sis on a job well done. You hit this one out of the park.

Micro Boxes now available at Carson Catlin's shop
Carson Catlin recently updated his store with some Micro Reticulated Boxes which are selling for just US$10 each. They're all styled with the usual Carson-brand cuts and feature some nice, bright colors. If you like what you see, it looks like he also hinted at these colorways seeing a reprise at NYCC and DCon.
Check out some pictures of the various designs in the gallery, and be sure to stop by his store and see what else he's got on sale there. I particularly like this batch though, especially since they've got a star design!

WIP of unnamed Squadt custom from dust

dust shares with us a new work-in-progress pic of a new Squadt-custom he is currently working on (no title name finalized yet too LOL). David adds: "The figure stand 33cm tall..the head is a modified nozzel squadt and the body of the figure is full moveable self made body."
Stay tuned for updates, folks!
Gundam Build Fighters "Mobile Suit A" appears in November
Gundam Build Fighters has proven itself to be the re-do of existing kits. The next entry into the series is being a remake of the RX-178 Gundam Mk. II with a new backpack. For now, the suit is titled the Mobile Suit A, packaged with the backpack Booster A. The Booster A adds in two of the Mk. II's rifles to side thrusters, on top of a modified backpack of the Mk. II.
It's not really the most exciting kit, but the backpack is kind of interesting. The currently-titled Mobile Suit A is being released in November for the price of ¥1,890. As with the previous GBF kits, the Booster A will be released on its own as well for the price of ¥600.

To me personally, there is a thread that ties into all the pop culture aspects of the modern age (and why my blog reports on what it does), and this particular category is one such nod to that thread, for which I am both grateful and appalled.
The representation is far too eclectic, but I also recognize the fact that this is an unfair category, as it implies a certain level of cross-licensing, and possibly preferred connection, and even recognition in/with the "art toy culture".
Too bad Super7's ALIENS figures could not make it this year, and would Japan's Good Smile Company products like their Iron Man and Shingeki no Kyojoin Nendoroids ever be considered to be included in the list?
Neverthless, the point might be moot here, as this is a (Closed) Board Voted category, and is not open for Public Voting … although i am wondering, how the votes might be if it WAS opened to public voting? Who would YOU vote for, folks? :)
