Megahobby Expo 2013 Spring: One Piece
Megahobby Expo is going on at this very instant on the other side of the world. For me, this should be a joyous occasion. Unfortunatley, it isn't. Why you ask? Well, I've got to point at the currently anemic showing of the Portrait of Pirates line.
You'd figure that Megahouse would bring out the big guns at Megahobby Expo since, you know, their name is in the title of the event. All I see here are a lot of retreads. At the very least, we got a look at the Z versions of Zoro and Luffy. Besides that, there isn't much else. I'm hoping that there are a few more things that haven't been photographed yet. If we get any more updates, I'll be sure to update the post. If not, well, at least I'll be able to save some cash in the next couple of months.

Megahobby Expo 2013 Spring: Naruto Shippuden
Continuing with our Megahobby Spring 2013 coverage, I present a pair of, wait for it, G.E.Ms!
*crickets*
Ahem. Well, awful humor aside, I've seriously got some new additions to the G.E.M. line, both from the perennially popular Naurto Shippuden. While you have seen the G.E.M. Kakashi before, I definitely haven't seen the Shippuden version of Naruto in color and Sasuke is completely new to me. According to the placards, Naruto is set to come in October for ¥9,240 while Sasuke will come in December for ¥8,190.
There was a time years ago that I would've paid good money for some scaled Naruto figures. Now, with the exception of maybe one blue-haired gal, that is a market that no longer interests me. However, I know that more than a couple Tomopeeps will be tickled pink to have these gents in their collections. Just, call me when they decide to make a Hinata.

Megahobby Expo Spring 2013: Kotobukiya
At the spring Megahobby Expo, Kotobukiya unveiled some very nice new figures. For me, the biggest news was seeing a new addition to their Yu-Gi-Oh! ArtFx line. Yes, among the previously released Yu-Gi-Oh! figures, there was an unpainted Dark Marik with his flowing cape.
Also after seeing her in a magazine scan, Cu-poche Mami from Puella Magi Madoka Magika made her appearance. From Prince of Tennis' ArtFx line, Echizen Ryoma was displayed, a figure that just recently went up for pre-order. With this series, they also brought along a new figure, an unpainted Atobe Keigo.
Also seen was from Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon, Futayo Honda, and from Yu Yu Hakusho, Yoko Kurama.

Megahobby Expo Spring 2013: Gintama's Ginpachi
Since Pedro already posted up the Naruto-related G.E.M. series additions, I am taking up the slack here with a Gintama-related G.E.M. series figure, Ginpachi-sensei! This prototype was shown at Megahoubby Expo by MegaHouse, and though I'm not too familiar with the series (I've only watched a small amount of Gintama-related shenanigans), I do like the look of the figure aesthetically.
For one thing, he's holding some books, which is pretty much awesome. What I initially thought was a pen or something hanging from his mouth is actually his signature lollipop. I like how his clothing is sculpted to work with the look of him being in motion, and finally... figures of characters with glasses look cool.

Sneak Peek: Anna Chambers New GID Plush Series
Seen @ #SWDJKT 2013: Giant Ewok Plush
No, the giant Ewok plush is NOT creepy, not creepy at aaaallll … seen sitting down next to the Ewok toy-diorama display (wished I had more snaps of it tho) at last weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta was this humongous plush Ewok, which no doubt made for a swell photo-op (which I regret not taking pictures of myself alongside with…). If there were more, they could be standing together and be greeting attendees as they walked in thru the entrance, where this display was location … heh :)

Seen @ #SWDJKT 2013: Jabba's Palance & Ranchor Surprise
This toy-diorama on display at last weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta showcased 1/6th-scaled figures depicting Jabba The Hutt's palace - as seen in "Return of the Jedi" - along with a seamless-joint Slave Leia, an extremely green Jabba, and a palace set up what would be splendid if there were a little more ambient light in the dio itself, IMHO.
And I nearly missed seeing the Ranchor peeking out from under the table ala the "dungeon" below the palace (Thanks to Pram for the pointer tho, I really would have missed it the first time around lol) … now of there was a partially chewed off Gamorrean guard in it's hands and mouth… LOL

Seen @ #SWDJKT 2013: Boba Fetts
"The most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy"? How about "one of the most popular characters in Star Wars"?
Besides Darth Vader, there is no further doubt about the popularity of BOBA FETT is to the general public, much less to toy-collectors, who - in images shown here - dedicate their collections to the original green-armored Mandalorian, and shared them with attendees at last weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta!
I love it when "heritage" meets "sci-fi" haha

Seen @ #SWDJKT 2013: Darth Mauls
For a character that appeared only in one single movie, his legacy sure seems to last, and folks can't seem to get enough of him!
Here are snaps of the red and black Sith lord DARTH MAUL and his toy and collectible presence at last weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta!
Seen above is a "Darth Maul" from a "cepat"! A traditional Indonesian doll/craft given the Sith treatment and look pretty cheerful about it too! (Thanks for the education, Pram!). Along with a traditional puppet figurine "complying" as Boba Fett, Both of them flank a trio of Sith Skulls. I really like it when traditions meet science fiction like this :)

Star Wars Collectibles On Display @ Star Wars Day Jakarta #SWDJKT
Star Wars Day Jakarta is a fan-originated event by fans for fans. As such, one of the key elements in the display for the event, are the toys and crafts on display, from collectors themselves, adding a very personal touch to the proceedings, unlike a brand/manufacturer's show for fans, IMHO.
A selection of shelves and display tables where dedicated to showcasing toys, toys-dioramas, crafts, trading cards, books, comics and all manner of Star Wars Collectibles, which both delight, and surprised. Nothing like a spectacular showing of commercial merchandize from the classic films, folks! And these could be YOUR displays too, yeh?
Thus far today I had featured Jabba's Palance, Boba Fett, Darth Maul and even a Ewok. As well images have since been posted HERE on my dedicated Facebook album for your viewing pleasures! *May The Force Be With You… And Your Wallets*
