Top Shelf Comix Announces New Jeffrey Brown, ‘A Matter of Life’
Really excited about this one. My favorite comic book illustrated/writer, Jeffrey Brown, is getting ready to release his newest comic book on Top Shelf Comix, titled A Matter of Life. The hardcover graphic novel will be an autobiography on his fatherhood and his father’s fatherhood.
From Top Shelf:
In “A Matter of Life,” Jeffrey Brown draws upon memories of three generations of Brown men: himself, his minister father, and his preschooler son Oscar. Weaving through time, passing through the quiet suburbs and colorful cities of the midwest, their stories slowly assemble into a kaleidoscopic answer to the big questions: matters of life and death, family and faith, and the search for something beyond oneself.
The comic book will release this June.

And Now the GOOD NEWS!
I just got this email:
Hi Terri,
We’ve decided to keep TheDollPage open indefinitely, a decision made mostly due to the amazing outpouring of sadness and support when we announced a June 1st closing last week. We’ve received so many emails! Almost all of them are expressions of disbelief or disappointment or offers of help with money or moral support. We haven’t had a chance to even read them all, much less respond, and we’re very sorry we’re so behind on that. And now things are taking place at such a rapid rate, we’re afraid we won’t be able to answer everyone individually. Hopefully this public message will answer some of your questions.
Photo Albums 1 and 2 are operational and will remain open indefinitely. Current members of the albums are welcome to use the albums as they normally do. You do not need to copy your images back to your PC anytime soon. Our plan is to consolidate both albums into a single one and make some improvements, like setting up a system where you can copy all of your pictures back into your home computer anytime you’d like.
The Marketplace is open and operational and will also remain open indefinitely. Unfortunately, the Marketplace was the target of a recent hacker who wiped out most of the pictures the store owners had uploaded. Improvements to that site are also planned.
The Show & Sell site is up and running pretty well and will also remain open indefinitely. It will be the subject of many changes, including improvements to the recent new member nomination system.
The Dollchat site is up and will also remain open indefinitely.
The albums and Marketplace are not accepting new memberships for the short-term future. New members are still being accepted at the Show & Sell site using the current new member nomination system announced a few weeks ago via newsletter and also posted on the site discussion forum.
We have a plan to bring TheDollPage up to technical standards with professional help and we hope to post more information over the next few weeks. As always, please feel free to respond publicly or privately with any questions, comments or suggestions and we'll try our best to get back to you.
Thanks so very much to everyone for all the love and support you have given both of us recently and over the years! It's truly appreciated!
Best,
Steve and Rae

Tomopop Interview: Tomasz Rozejowski
Tomasz Rozejowski (also known as Zelu1984 or TRCreations) isn't just any other figure customizer. His platform of choice is Play Arts Kai, and his creations from the Final Fantasy universe (and occasionally beyond) are incredibly detailed resculpts of characters that Square Enix hasn't quite gotten to yet. His works tends to speak for itself, and we recently had the opportunity to talk to Tomasz about how he got started, his work, and a lot more.

New movie Megatron statue is here to break the bank
New company Prime 1 Studio is working under approval of Takara Tomy to produce a massive new cold-cast statue of Megatron for their new Museum Master Line series based on his appearance in the second live action Transformers movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. They've really outdone themselves by creating an imposing 80cm (31.5 inch) monstrosity that stands a towering 67cm (26.4 inches) off of his display base. Size isn't the only thing he has going for him. His eyes have red LEDs in them that allows them glow menacingly. His right arm is removable and can be replaced by his arm's fusion canon mode. The canon itself has interchangeable long and short barrels. The detail work is phenomenal thanks largely to its mostly polystone with resin composition.
Looks great and comes with some nice bonuses, right? Yeah, that'll only set you back ¥180,000 or about US$1,868 and that is not a typo.
I seriously have to question the sanity of whoever came up with this. Sure it looks nice, but why does this need to be made at all? Who asked for this? From what I remember a lot of fans at the time panned the ROTF Megatron design, largely because of his strange looking arms and huge feet. Seemed the original movie design and his third movie design were much more popular. But why at this point even do this statue at all? Fans have moved on and everyone knows the second movie was a half-hearted rush job, people aren't exactly clamoring for high-end Revenge of the Fallen merchandise. If you want to go for something high end that will sell go for G1 Megatron, those will move. But I also have to wonder why Megatron at all? Why not Optimus Prime, that way you can make one statue and basically cover all three movies?
It's a confusing statue and chances are it's way out of your price range, but if you're interested pre-orders are open now and he's expected to arrive in June. Due to its high ticket price there probably wont be a lot of stores willing to take a chance on it. Also be sure to check the gallery for 20 pictures of this serious statue.
