Darth Vader Mythos statue is the stuff of legends
OK. We all know Darth Vader and we all know how cool of a villain he is so let's just cut to the chase. This might just be the only Darth Vader statue you'll ever need. On its own it's made to represent Darth Vader returning to Mustafar where Obi Wan left him for dead to reflect on the path he's taken in his life. His helmet removed he holds it out in front of him as the lava reflecting brilliantly off of him. But wait, is it young Anakin or old Anakin under the helmet? Why, it's both! Thanks to the magic of interchangeable parts you can display Vader as either young or old. But wait, there's more! If pasty bald Anakin isn't your thing there's also a completely helmeted head with optional arms and lightsaber to make what might just be the most intimidating Darth Vader anything ever made! I'm also digging the other optional arm allowing him to hold up a clenched fist kinda like the one he makes (with the other hand) when trying to entice Luke to the Dark Side in Empire Strikes Back.
It's a statue that allows for a lot of configuring, but all that comes at a price. US$349.99 will score you a 24 inch tall and 12 inch wide polystone statue with a heft of 14 pounds complete with a total of three different heads and two additional right arms. That's a lot of statue! He'll be released in September with pre-orders up now at Sideshow.com, but they haven't announced just how many they'll be limiting it to just yet. So who's going to take the lava plunge and buy this?

Yokohama in the Winter
The freezing Winter has pretty much come to a close but still have a few photo walk posts from the Japan in the Winter series.
Today we take a gander around the Yokohama area which is only 30 mins or so from Tokyo by train.
Yokohama is the capital city of the Kanagawa Prefecture and is located next to Tokyo. The population is about 3.6 million and the amount of registered gaijin-san is about 75,000.
For more than 200 years, Japan went through a period of seclusion [鎖国] where it was forbidden for any Japanese to leave Japan. Trading and communications with the outside world was also forbidden.
In 1853, Commodore Matthew Perry arrived at Yokohama with a fleet of American warships requesting that Japan open up its ports for trading. The Tokugawa shogunate agreed by signing the Treaty of Peace and Amity. Since then, Yokohama has developed to be one of Japan's major ports.
The easiest way to get to Yokohama would be on the Toyoko-line [東横線] from Shibuya station.
"Taking up skirt photos is a crime"
Posters like these can be seen all over train stations in Japan. Is this a problem where you are too?
This is where you buy your train tickets. Check the destination on the huge map and then buy the ticket that corresponds to the price shown under the destination.
While signs on the trains and in the train stations are also in English, many of these maps are only in Japanese. In this case all you need to do is buy the cheapest fare and pay the difference when you reach your destination.
Naruto teams up with the Red Cross Society and asks us to donate blood.
West side of Yokohama station.
Yodobashi Yokohama - a one stop for all your electronic needs.
WiMAX - one of the broadband WiFi solution providers. You can get very high speeds of broadband Internets through mobile devices in Japan - so much so that many people dont bother in getting their house wired up anymore.
The WiMAX speeds are about 40Mbps down which is not as fast as the Optic fiber but still good enough for most needs.
Have seen these on the market but have wondered about them - they enable you to use your smart phone with gloves on. My leather gloves seem to work fine when using my mobile touch devices though.
iPad mini looks great - but I went for the Nexus 7 instead. Photos taken just need to upload ><
Yodobashi also has a hobby section so you can fill some of your otaku needs too. Here we have Mirai Nendoroid - thanks to all who bought one!
Mirai Nendoroid (271) gets added to the history of Nendoroid list for eternity ^o^
The huge Gacha section at yodobashi. Very dangerous place for doll owners as there are a load of 1/3 scale goodies - and then some which kinda look 1/3 scale but you dont know until you buy ^^;
For folks who like old men in young girls clothes.
Underground shopping area which connects Yokohama station with Yodobashi Camera.
Volks Yokohama - for your doll and figure needs.

Taito Station have a whole floor dedicated to otaku and anime goodies.
K-ON! still going strong.
Yamada!
Figures for you - but only if your UFO Catcher skills are up to scratch.
Should have picked one up - just the right size for dolls ^^;
Sayonara Santa.
A makeshift blood donation van asking you for your juices.
Animate Yokohama can be found on the Eastern side of Yokohama.
Tokyu Hands Yokohama - another place you need to stop off at that covers a wide variety of lifestyle goods.
The huge department store Sogo.
Soon.
Fresh Sashimi. Many are discounted near store closing time.
Heading to the "Landmark Tower" located near Sakuragicho station [桜木町駅] which is 1 station away from Yokohama. You can walk it from Yokohama though.
Time to head up to the observation deck of the Landmark Tower.
Entrance fee for the observation deck (Sky Garden) is 1,000 yen.
You may want to go on a weekday - not a lot of people to queue behind.
Lovely views of Yokohama all round.
And thats it for today! A list of the Japan in the Winter photo posts below.
And a list of Japan in the Summer posts listed up below.
And if you are looking for a list of places to visit...

Mikatan plays ball with Nendoroid Rin Natsume
Little Busters! was already huge in the visual novel world, but the currently airing anime series was always going to unleash a new torrent of merchandise on us, and now Mikatan is along with a preview of one of the most anticipated figures, a Nendoroid of heroine Rin Natsume. She was announced a while back but this is our first glimpse of her up close.
It's a seriously fantastic looking one too, with the game's distinctive black and red blazer looking very sharp. Rin also comes packed in with a hefty assortment of accessories. We've got normal, embarrassed and angry faces to start with. And we've got not one, but two cats included, the small white Lennon and the huge ginger Dorj, along with a special cat toy hand. Perhaps my favourite though are the custom baseball and glove hands, perfect for a quick session of catch.
Pre-orders will open this Friday, March 22, and given the popularity of the series, she's bound to be a big seller. Make sure you get your orders in early if you want to take her home with you!

Medicom unveils a stunning Real Action Heroes Link
OK, I don't think anybody saw this one coming. Medicom have just unveiled the latest in their Real Action Heroes series, and it's The Legend of Zelda's Link! While the Nintendo legend got a figma last year, few were anticipating him making the jump to the larger scaled line.
Standing approximately 30 cm tall, Link is portrayed as he appeared in the latest game The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. Like all RAH figures, he features real cloth clothing, in this case an absolutely fantastic rendition of his iconic green tunic, with undershirt and chainmail layers perfectly recreating his in-game look. There's no skimping on accessories either as alongside the obligatory Master Sword and Hylian Shield he also comes packed in with his beautiful bow and arrow and the game's unique gripping beetle item. There's also a swappable angry face for those dynamic action scenes.
It all adds up to one seriously tempting package. RAH Link is aiming for a November release and goes on pre-order this Sunday, March 24, at the hefty price of ¥20,790. That's not a small amount of money and yet I have to imagine there's plenty of readers who won't be able to click that button fast enough.
