Mel Odom: A New Doll?
If you want to be one of the first to see the doll and hear more about the future line (?), you will have to go to Orlando, Florida in April. Perhaps I'll see you there.
When:
Saturday April 13, 2013 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM EDTWhere:
DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel at Universal5780 Major Blvd.
Orlando, FL 32819
Lunch with Mel Odom
In 1995 Mel retired from illustration and focused on a three-dimensional project, a fashion doll for adults named Gene Marshall. Gene’s story of being a movie star during the 1940s and 50s was irresistible to collectors, and within a year of her 1995 launch at Toy Fair, Gene was in fact a star. Bits of her story came with each doll and costume and in 2000 her lavishly illustrated biography: “Gene Marshall, Girl Star” was published by Hyperion Press. Gene has been voted in Doll Reader the most influential doll since Barbie.

This one is quite an extravaganza! It reminds me of John Galliano's Dior gowns. It has lots of fabric, that is probably the reason for the pricing.

New RETRO BARBIE & KEN DOLLS as 1966 TV Series Catwoman and Batman
As reported here at the Bat-Blog awhile back, the Mattel Toy Company has plans to release a special set of RETRO BARBIE AND KEN DOLLS dressed as Catwoman (Julie Newmar) and Batman (Adam West) from the 1966 TV Series. Now, when they say "retro" what they mean is that the dolls look like the vintage-style that was made back in the 1960's. Here is a photo of the dolls that will be released later this year. We don't have an exact release date right now but stay tuned to the Bat-Blog and as soon as we know, you will know.
By the way, this image shown here is also a BATMAN TOYS Wallpaper background you can use to brighten your Desktop, click on it for a larger version & please enjoy.
Chip Kidd and Dave Taylor’s BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN To Be Published in Spain as “Arquitectura Mortal”
OK, This is pretty awesome bat-news! Over at the CHIPKIDD.COM website we just got the word that a book publishing company in Barcelona, Spain called “Ecc Ediciones” will be publishing Chip Kidd and Dave Taylor’s BATMAN: DEATH BY DESIGN (DC Comics) into a foreign language edition! The new title will be called, “Batman: Arquitectura Mortal”. They have even created a really nice Book Trailer Video which you can see down below. We’re not really sure of an exact release date but it is due in 2013 and I have seen some foreign reviews already.

She looks fantastic but why oh why don't we have a face pic without the sunglasses? How is someone supposed to buy a doll without seeing her face? This time though there is A BAG! Finally! And a cute one too! Fab shoes.

The second basic doll is Jon on the Antoinette™ body with the Honey skin tone. She has painted brown eyes and a chestnut saran wig. She wears black shorts with a white star decoration and red stitching, a red and white striped shirt with black stitching and black elastic strap shoes with a red platform. She comes with a stand.
I like the previous outfit better but this wig colour is way more beautiful. All the outfits of the basic dolls plus one of the separate outfits could really mix and match.

The first of four outfits is the one that I wrote above, that matches the ones from the basic dolls. It consists of a tan and black stripe skirt, a tan bodysuit with star decoration and black and red trim, a red faux leather belt, a red jacket with black trim and gold buttons and black elastic strap platform shoes.
Two things: it needed a bag (to really mean business and the shoes should have been different than the basci doll ones. Spectator pumps maybe.

The last outfit consists of a black jacket with faux fur cuffs and a black patent leather belt, cream and gold rib knit hooded sweater with black faux fur trim, black velveteen stirrup pants and black faux leather boots with faux fur trim.
This is the odd one out - a winter ensemble in a summer collection. But it looks really good and funky. I bet it will be a hit. This Cami & Jon collection is one of the best ever.

Chiptune Damage: Ro-Bear Covers Cher At 8Static
Here’s a clip from last night’s 8Static event in Philly featuring Ro-Bear doing an epic LSDJ rendition of Cher’s “Do You Believe In Love?”.
WARNING! A huge sing-along approaches around the 3:09 mark.
Ro-Bear was rad enough to let us film a short Q&A segment which I’ll try and have up later this week. In the meantime, just keep re-watching the clip above and bobbing your nugget.
