Gunbuster Chogokin Figure Revoltech released a Gunbuster figure...
Gunbuster Chogokin Figure
Revoltech released a Gunbuster figure last year. And it was about time. After nearly 25 years since the anime premiered, there still weren’t many quality figures based on the series’ giant robot. Now Bandai are adding Gunbuster to their Super Robot Chogokin line. The 6” figure will be released in March for $74.

TokyoFlash Kisai Maru One of the only things I don’t like...
TokyoFlash Kisai Maru
One of the only things I don’t like about TokyoFlash watches is that they’re pretty in-your-face. The Kisai Maru fixes that with some subtle style though. The inner hand points to the hour and the outer hand points to the minute. And the anodized aluminum casing looks like it could take a beating. It comes in black, silver, and sienna for $150.
Albotip: “Maru” means “circle” in Japanese.

A Steiff Love Story In Three Chapters
Sweetheart #1:
All panda-monium broke out when this huge black and white buddy arrived at Steiffgal's home. Here we have Steiff's largest sized post war panda, affectionately called "King Panda." Panda is 50 cm, five ways jointed, and made from really thick and long black and white mohair. The tops of his flat feet are made from shorter black mohair. Panda's face is detailed with large black and brown pupil eyes, a black hand embroidered nose, and an open, peach colored felt lined mouth. He truly appears to be smiling! His foot and hand paw pads are made from taupe colored felt. This pattern was produced in 15, 22, 28, 35, 43, and 50 cm from 1951 thorough 1961; the company used a suede-like grey rubber material instead of felt on this panda’s paws and soles from 1956 onward. This particular example, with a US Zone tag and felt feet, dates from the very early 1950's. His crown is a gift from a friend from England, who purchased it at the gift shop at Buckingham Palace in London.
King Panda was discovered on eBay with a very reasonable "buy it now" price. And Steiffgal did... with no regrets whatsoever!
Sweetheart #2:
No clowning around... nothing wins a woman over more than a sense of humor! Here we have Steiff's most unusual Larifari Kasperl (clown-like) doll. Larifari is standing and five ways jointed. His head and arms are made from rubber while his body and legs are made from felt. He is handsomely dressed in brown felt boots, tan cotton pants, a white frilly collared shirt, red felt jacket, and green felt hat. He wears brown leather suspenders and a belt. Larifari's hair is made from very short grey mohair. His face is simply adorable, and highlighted by big blue eyes and a sheepish smile. Swoon! Larifari is based on a German book and movie character created by Ferdinand Diehl, the same creative genius who designed the beloved Micki and Mecki hedgehog characters. Larifari only appeared in the line from 1955 through 1957 and is seldom seen on the secondary market - especially in North America.
Steiffgal found Larifari at a Boston area doll event. He was on display with a number of other non-Steiff dolls in the very last booth Steiffgal visited on her way out of the show. The dealer, who had owned Larifari for close to 50 years, was delighted to learn that he was going to a Steiff loving home.
Sweethearts #3 and 4:
Oh baby... check out these very early 1950's era Steiff Teddy babies. Little brother is 22 cm and blonde. Big brother is 28 cm and brown. Both are five ways jointed and have distinctive, well defined muzzles; flat, broad, clawed feet made for standing; and sweet, toddler-like features including open, smiling, peach colored felt lined mouths. Post war, Steiff produced their beloved Teddy baby pattern in blonde or brown mohair in 9, 22, 28, 30, and 40 cm in the identical pattern made before the war. All sizes over 9 cm came with a leather collar with a bell. Teddy Baby remained in the Steiff line until 1957, although due to his popularity with collectors, has been replicated many times in numerous limited edition series.
Steiffgal purchased these brothers from a collector who was moving and downsizing her collection. Steiffgal was delighted to make it a family affair and adopt the duo.
Steiffgal hopes this love story helps to fan your flames of passion for this delightful brand!

DesignerCon 2012: doubleparlour
The creations of doubleparlour are really ones you'll love ... or hate. They aren't the cuddliest sculptures in the world, and for some, they might be the stuff of nightmares. But to me, there's something interesting about seeing what doubleparlour comes up with, in the same way Guillermo del Toro's work can fascinate folks. With names like Bogruffians or Harvestmaw or Bashlu, these things look and sound like wild beasts from a far-off land.
If you've never seen doubleparlour's work before, now's a good time to get acquainted with it. Check through our gallery for some DesignerCon booth photos of the sculptures on display and let us know what you think!
DesignerCon 2012: Beary Happy
Beary Happy is an upcoming line of plush toys. Yes, they're mostly bear-themed, but that doesn't necessarily mean they'll all be bears. There's even one that's a flying monkey, it seems! And a little girl dressed up in a bear suit, to boot.
Check out some of the photos we snapped up from the Beary Happy booth, and stay tuned for any news we've got on the line!
[UPDATE] Prepare your wallet for these Bandai pre-orders
Bandai recently updated their web page with a slew of products that will soon be up for pre-order, some of which I'm sure you're interested in getting your hands on.
The ones that are sure to go quick are the newest Figuarts ZERO figures from One Piece. Continuing the expansive line up from not only this series of figures but also this title will be X-Drake and Basil Hawkins. If you prefer to have something a little more cute, then look out for chibi-arts Boa Hancock who will be riding along with Salome. You can choose to have her stand alone, coiled by Salome, or have her sitting on top. Various expressions and arms will be included. Also, chibi boobs.
For those who like robots, Bandai has a pair of poseable ones coming. The first is the <SIDE KMF> Guren Mk-II, the Knightmare Frame prototype from Code Geass. This Crimson Lotus features the Radiation Wave Unit painted in a metallic gray as well as the ability to extend. For accessories there's the Slash Harken as a separate piece and the Fork Knife painted in a metallic bronze color. Gundam 00 will put you to work with the Gundam METAL BUILD Gundam Exia & Exia Repair III. This Gundam is loaded for battle with quite the number accessories available including its shield, vulcan, and assortment of blades to cut you. Heck of a one-Gundam army.
The figure that catches my attention the most out of the upcoming releases for pre-order is easily the lovely D-Arts Alisa from God Eater Burst. Bandai has done an amazing job of making an attractive poseable figure. Granted I'm smitten by her outfit what with the boots, stockings, and an swanky hat. The hair and face also look fantastic as does every other bit of this figure. Oh, and I guess the boobs, too, but whatever. There are better things about this figure to look at especially her assault gun and long blade combination God Arc. Unfortunately, it looks like that's the only accessory Alisa will include. You can also choose to remove her hat to get a better look at her pretty hair so that's something.
Each figure will be available in March, 2013 ranging from ¥3,360 to ¥4.725 except for the Gundam Exia which will cost you the a hefty ¥15,750. No word when these pre-orders go up but you can expect it to be very soon. We'll keep you posted as soon as we find out as I'm sure those One Piece figures will go fast.
Update: Now available for pre-order. Keep your eyes on the following outlets before most of these sell out.

DesignerCon 2012: Hyperactive Monkey
DesignerCon was invaded by some sinister ninja monkeys! Oh wait, no, that's just Hyperactive Monkey's booth at the event. They brought with them a new colorway of the Deluxe Ninja Monkey figure, now in a shiny silver paintjob, who comes with quite an arsenal of accessories.
Also at the booth were the plush monkey puppets we saw at SDCC, the 10-Doh!s that Jerome Lu designed and a plethora of other merch, including "The ABCs of Monkey Kung Fu!", a book for the littler ones in your life.
Christmas came early in Paris: Dior dolls for Printemps department store
Jean-Claude Dehix, the most famous of puppet masters, has been creating window displays for Paris department stores for over thirty years. He tells DiorMag about his work, and what it was like to collaborate with the house of Dior.
"In a setting of silk and tulle, sequins and ribbons, they're getting ready, making themselves up, impatient to go waltzing or ice-skating in a decor drawn straight from a fairytale. These distinctly Dior dolls are the stars of the Printemps department store's windows.
Under the Eiffel Tower's steel arches, they twirl and glide, beyond elegant in Bar jacket and full, flaring skirt. On the ice rink, they slice through the air, gracious skaters graced with the most Parisian of silhouettes. A little further on, under a band stand, they waltz and dance to the strains of a gramophone, bedecked in vaporous ball gowns. Look closely, for isn't that also them clutching to a huge bunch of balloons floating over the Opéra Garnier, Printemps and the Eiffel Tower, and again at the fairground, dancing between the carrousel and the big wheel? Yes, it's definitely them, no one else - the dolls!"
