DesignerCon 2012: Flat Bonnie

DesignerCon 2012: Flat Bonnie screenshot

Flat Bonnie is not only an artist with talent for making adorable plushes but they also have a charitable heart, with a portion of their sales going towards organizations that rescue real bunnies. Their DCon exclusive, YetiBun, caught my attention when it was previewed prior to the event. Joining YetiBun at Flat Bonnie's DesginerCon booth were plush bunnies of many sizes and patterns (one was even made to look as if he was made of wood) as well as hedgehogs, chinchillas, and other woodland critters. There were also amusing shirts featuring Flat Bonnie bunnies (the "Bunzinga" shirt made me laugh out loud).

For those unable to make it to DesignerCon, Flat Bonnie has tons of adorable handmade plushes available on their online store. In the meantime, check out the gallery to see more of Flat Bonnie's booth at DesignerCon 2012!

Walking Dead gelatin molds may be of questionable taste

Walking Dead gelatin molds may be of questionable taste screenshot

If the words, "dismembered zombie body parts", makes your mouth water then Diamond Select Toys has just the thing for you with their Walking Dead gelatin/ice cube/chocolate silicone molds.

There are two molds currently available to fans of this zombie franchise. The first is a large zombie head which measures nine by five inches and is intended more as a gelatin mold although I imagine it works for other substances as well. The second mold can generate many smaller items including arms, legs, heads, a torso, and the walking dead logo. Its size adds a good deal of versatility since it'd be good for anything from making ice cubes to small candies (chocolate is recommended) to little gelatin jigglers.

Both molds can be pre-ordered for around US$14 and are slated for an April. They'll likely make the perfect treat for anybody into ghoulish, gruesome goodies.

Brandishing a walking cane and totting a blade, beware THE RIPPER! This is a custom 3" Dunny by Jon-Paul Kaiser, and completed as a commissioned piece. Jon-Paul mentions on his Facebook that he might make a "small run" of this piece, and I would heartily agree! Hell this would murder the scene! (Apologies for the pun, tis been THAT sorta weekend thus far…)

Kotobukiya finally unveils its New 52 Batman screenshot

Kotobukiya has revealed the latest addition to their New 52 ArtFX+ line, and it's the long-awaited New 52 Batman that we're getting a glimpse at. Based on Jim Lee's design, Kotobukiya has posted nine pictures of the 1/10-scale Batman on their Facebook page. It's about as metallic-painted and detailed as you might expect from the other entries in the New 52 line so far. I'm just not a big fan of the overall design, I guess, and I thought it was the one New 52 costume that I'd like.

New 52 Batman is coming all the way in May 2013. Anyone going to be picking him up for their collection?

Custom Delights: Jfayala's Milk Tea with Boba

Custom Delights: Jfayala's Milk Tea with Boba screenshot

Jfayala (a.k.a. Joseph Ayala) has tweeted about his newest completed custom. He's chosen one of Lunartik's Tea in a Cup figures, given it a bit of a makeover, and turned it into Milk Tea with Boba. Yep, it's Tea in a Cup turned into Boba Fett, complete with the little antenna on his Mandalorian helmet.

It is a big rough looking in some spots, which might be attributable to either the photo quality or the fact that Jfayala is still new to designer vinyl. But let's also be a bit honest here: if you're new to designer vinyl, it takes a bit of time to get everything down right. The one custom I did for the Omi show looks a bit rougher than this piece, for example. So here's hoping we'll see more from Jfayala in the future, because I think he's off to a decent start. At the very least, he's making customs of characters I really like!

Today we went and took family photos. We needed a real family photo with Mia in it, all of us as a family of 5. Brooklin’s favorite part today was everything, she came in and asked me to do her hair. Her gentle curls pulled to the side with a simple bow in the back.... [Continue Reading]

More Battle Beast sketches show what could appear in line screenshot

The Battle Beasts Facebook page has been updated with more Battle Beasts art, this time for the Zik the Dragonfly and Samurai Lizard.

Fans will recall that Zik was among the first Battle Beast Minimates to be released, as he appeared alongside Vorin in a 2-pack sold during SDCC 2012. I can't say that I liked the look of that Minimate nearly as much as I do the character art but a lot of that simply comes down how they handled the head. Plus, given the thinner body type, I suppose it's not something that might necessarily translate well.

Samurai Lizard (which sounds awesome) hasn't been fortunate enough to receive a figure yet, but he will be a solid addition when (or if) he does join the line. That oversized frill would certainly look cool, even if it ended up obscuring some of his armor. If you like the look of Samurai Lizard (or Zulu Cheetah or Hoplite Albatross, for that matter), I'd encourage you to make that opinion known on the Battle Beasts Facebook page.
