IFDC 2016 Integrity Toys convention dolls: Agent 355 - Mission Lovejoy

$

The International Fashion Doll Convention 2016 - or IFDC as most people know it - took place this weekend in Las Vegas, with a spy/James Bond theme. Integrity Toys, which created the convention dolls once again, did an incredible job and brought to us some great dolls - one of which is almost perfection. Alain Trembley styled all three of these winners and boy, did he do an amazing job. I love the fact that instead of a male spy saving the woman scientist, it is  the other way around, plus the villain of the story is a woman too. These were all available for convention attendees but W Club members also get the privilege to enter a lottery for a limited number of them, so if you are a member, check your email right now!

Item # 75020
Anja™ as Agent 355
IFDC 2016 IT Direct Exclusive Dressed Doll
Approximate Ship Date: After Winners' Payments are Received
Limited Edition Size: 500 Dolls Worldwide
Suggested Retail Price: $150.00
IFDC / IT Direct Exclusive

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: FR2013
Head Sculpt: Anja™
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Brunette
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied

Anja™ is wearing a sequined tuxedo and high-heels, but her ensemble also includes a gun, a camera, a map, a picture of the mysterious Professor Young and a mission brief. Anja™ is a fully articulated 12.5-inch doll with fully rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included. The rope shown is just a prop and is not included with the doll.

Even though many collectors adore the micro-sequined suit, I cannot bring myself to like it. I do understand though that another simple one would be too much, since we have got one in almost every convention collection these past years. The doll's make up looks fantastic and I love that she's wearing a choker, a very of the moment detail. She could be starring in any 70s Bond film as an equal partner to Roger Moore. The camera and map in scale are amazing.

Item # 75019
Marius Lancaster™ as Professor Young
IFDC 2016 Exclusive Companion Fashion Figure
Approximate Ship Date: After Winners' Payments are Received
Limited Edition Size: 500 Dolls Worldwide
Suggested Retail Price: $150.00

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: FR: Homme
Head Sculpt: Marius Lancaster™ (Brand New Sculpt!)
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: FR White
Hair Color: Blond
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied

Marius Lancaster as Professor Young is a brand new character making his debut in the family of Integrity Toys male figures and comes dressed in a classical, slightly geeky look, complete with red silk tie, handkerchief, argyle socks and oxford shoes, black reading glasses and a watch. He comes with his half of the formula of the love potion that he invented and a set of colored test tubes in a rack, a never seen before accessory created just for this set. Marius Lancaster is a fully articulated 12.5-inch fashion figure with fully rooted hair. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included.

I can see that the huge wide head trend in Hommes is continuing and this worries me about the main line. If they decide to make new faces for the new Hommes to be unveiled in the near future, and they have this huge wide head, I will not be buying them other than for body replacements. Other than that, the rest of the doll is amazing - great outfit and lovely, detailed accessories. The shoes and socks are TDF.

Item # 75018
Dasha™ as Anika Luxottica
IFDC 2016 Exclusive Convention Dressed Doll
Approximate Ship Date: After Winners' Payments are Received
Limited Edition Size: 500 Dolls Worldwide
Suggested Retail Price: $175.00

Doll Tech Specs:
Body Type: FR2013™ (Includes two sets of limbs, transparent and solid).
Head Sculpt: Dasha™
Quick Switch Feature: No
Skin Tone: Cream
Hair Color: Silver
Eyelashes: Yes, Hand-Applied

Dasha™ is dressed in a futuristic lab gown and techno heels, and comes complete with two full sets of limbs that can be switched at will and her half of the mysterious love potion. One set of the limbs is semi-transparent and robotic, as she is supposedly an "enhanced" human in the spy scenario. Dasha™ is a fully articulated 12.5-inch doll with fully rooted hair and hand applied eyelashes. For adult collectors ages 15 and up only. This doll cannot stand alone; a doll stand is included. Test tube not included.

I love this doll. Everything is perfection about her, from the hair and make up to the dress and shoes to the transparent set of limbs. I am entering the lottery for her and hope I win - I have never won an IFDC doll in a lottery before. Keeping fingers crossed.

Bethnal, Liberty and Chaucer

Bethnal is a bit strange. She's got the most difficult to control legs of any Syb I've ever had. She's also got a bad case of the joint flap. So far, every vinyl Syb I've undressed has the problem.
See: http://terrigoldphoto.blogspot.com/2015/12/disappointing-sybarite-gen-x-body.html
I'm not surprised this one has it but I expected a bit more from the legs.
Still, I like her face and I'll probably keep her.

I've redressed her in "Glitter Tit" as I did not care for her original outfit except for the shoes and the bag.
The photo on the right was shot with my iPhone in natural light. The one on the left was shot with a digital SLR in my studio with a mix of natural and strobe.  I did adjust the color balance in the photo on the left using Photoshop.

Kingdom Doll Liberty ranks near the top of my list of loved dolls. She is beautiful.

In these photos, she is wearing a dress by Nigel Chia. Shoes are KD. Wig by Ilaria. I darkened the background in the photo on the right.

I dressed KD Chaucer in "Enclosure Royal" a Sybarite fashion. I had to pin the top to make it smaller. Otherwise, everything fit including the shoes.  Black wig is Chaucers. Brown wig is by Cheryl Wood.

I can remember as a child playing with the Victorian fans, similar to the one shown in the picture above,  from my great, great Aunt Flossie and my Grandmother.  They were just beautiful and I loved opening and closing them.  Of course, I ended up breaking one and that was the last time I was allowed to play with them.  To pacify me my mother bought me a little plastic fan that wouldn't break as quickly.  However, over time break it did.  I still have that broken fan somewhere as well as a wooden fan from my grandmother.  I don't know what happened to my great, great Aunt Flossie's Victorian fans.

Beautiful fans have been a fashion accessory for awhile.  After all who can resist a woman wearing a beautiful Rococo, Edwardian, or Victorian dress holding a beautiful fan. I would love to see some of the beautiful fan pictures that I've pinned to my Beautiful Fans Through The Ages Pinterest board. They're just beautiful works of art all unto themselves - don't you think?  I have a few hundred pictures of these beautiful and historic fans from some of the museum websites I like to visit and am always looking for more.  If you'd like to see some of these beautiful works of art please click here.  Be sure to click through to the respective museum page to see more of the beautiful fans in their respective museum collection.

While I can't recreate such beautiful works of art perhaps these tutorials, video's and how-to's will show me how to make one.

The More The Merrier With Steiff's Scottie Terriers!

Great Scott!  Just what is it about little black dogs that makes Steiffgal go a little crazy?  Well, maybe its because she has two real life black pugs as her adored fur babies.  But since Steiff has not yet made a black pug (hint, hint...) Steiffgal has fallen almost as hard for the company's sweet black Scottish Terriers. Here are a few recent Scottie additions to her collection you might find quite interesting as well.

Go big or go home!  Or in this case, both!  Here we have an almost life-sized Scottie. He measures 28 cm tall and 36 cm long, not counting his pert tail. That adds another 9 cm to his presentation. He is standing on all fours, head jointed, and made from long black mohair. He has tan embroidered claws. His ears are lined in black felt.  His face comes to life with large white, brown, and black almond shaped glass eyes, a long shaggy mohair beard, and a black hand embroidered nose and mouth.  His IDs include a raised script style button and a US Zone tag.  This model was produced in 10, 14, 17, 22, 25, 28, and 35 cm from 1949 through 1957.  So this version is the second to largest size (as they are "measured" vertically from head to toe) and most likely made in around 1952, give or take a year or two.  Here in the picture on the left you can see Scottie modeling with the beautiful and perfect real-life black pug Booboo.

The biggest Steiff Scottie produced ever, as far as Steiffgal can tell, is a 43 cm version produced as a ride-on animal from 1950 through 1961.  His design appears to be the same as Steiffgal's big boy,  (pictured here on the left) just blown up in scale to almost twice the size.  It is interesting to note that Steiff never produced a Studio Scottie, at least on a commercial scale.

This second Scottie
highlight is the wheel-deal indeed. Here we have Steiff's early postwar Scottie on eccentric wheels.  He measures 13 cm tall and 21 cm long; 24 cm including his tail. He is standing on all fours, head jointed, and made from short mohair. His beard is made from longer black mohair. His ears are lined in black felt. His face comes to life with proportional white, brown, and black almond shaped glass eyes and a black embroidered nose and mouth. Scottie is mounted to a metal chassis and glides along on four red wooden eccentric wheels. He retains his raised script style button as his ID. This model was produced in 14 and 17 cm from 1949 through 1957 overall. This pup on the go is the smaller version of this model, and probably made towards the tail end of the production period.

Scottie on wheels is a legacy design for Steiff - one produced both pre- and post World War II.  The photo here on the left is a close up beauty shot of him; his collar is not original to him but was indeed made by Steiff.  Three versions of Scottie dogs on wheels were produced prewar. The first was a Scottie on eccentric wheels which was made in 14, 17, and 22 cm from 1932 to 1943 overall. The second was a Scottie on regular wheels which was made in 28 and 35 cm from 1932 to 1943 overall; those from 1932 through 1936 came with a squeaker. And the third was a version that squeaked automatically when he was pulled along; he was produced in 17 cm from 1939 through 1942. This was called the "barking dog" version.

And the third's the charm with this last interesting Scottie.  Well, actually pair of Scotties, they've been inseparable since meeting up in the collection. Here we have two silk plush Scotties.  The smaller one measures 14 cm tall and 19 cm long; 22 cm including his tail. The larger one measures 16 cm tall and 22 cm long; 26 cm including his tail. Both are standing on all fours, head jointed, and have round brown and black glass pupil eyes. As mentioned above, both are made from artificial silk plush. This material started out soft and shiny, but over time tends to lose its sheen and get a little dull and matted down, especially the longer versions. This is the case here. Unlike wool plush, longer artificial silk plush does not have a slightly "coarse" touch to it.

The detailing and IDs on the larger and smaller silk plush versions are a bit different, which is interesting given that both were only produced in 1949 - according to Steiff records.  The smaller one has a shaggy black mohair beard and a raised script button as his ID.  The larger one has a sort of shaggy black artificial silk plush beard, and a blank button as his ID.  Based on these differences, it is Steiffgal's best guess that the larger one was indeed manufactured and distributed in the very late 1940's.  However, because the smaller one has mohair detailing, as well as a raised script button (which technically launched in the early 1950's) it is likely that the smaller one was produced and distributed at a later date than the larger one when mohair was more readily available for toy making purposes.

Steiffgal hopes this discussion of interesting post war Scottie dogs has added a pleasant paws to your day.

2016 IFDC Dolls

In addition to the sequined spy with a gun, there are two more dolls.
The convention souvenir is a unique combination of fashion doll and transformer toy. Dasha is the sculpt with an edition size of 500. Retail $175.
Here's her description directly from the promotional:

When Dasha™ was offered the role of super villain Anika Luxoticca in the latest Agent 355 movie, she just couldn't resist. How can anyone pass up the chance to become a half-woman, half-machine cyborg looking for a potion that will allow her to feel love again? With her exotic accent, Dasha immediately became a hit with fans of the spy genre!

Anika Luxottica is ready to fight for her right to love and has captured Professor Young, a hip and happening scientist who has invented a love potion so potent that no human on Earth, both male and female, can resist once it's been ingested! Transformed into a cyborg following a freak lab accident that left her "transformed" for life (as she sees it), Luxottica can hide her mechanical limbs by switching them for solid colored ones at will. Dressed in a futuristic lab gown and techno heels, Anika comes complete with two full sets of limbs that can be switched at will and her half of the mysterious love potion. Will she be able to pry the other half out of Professor Young's grasp? What will she do to get it and feel again? You decide!

She is intriguing and sexy in her long, slim "lab gown." The cyborg arms and legs are pretty funny. I don't know why they remind me of Monster High dolls. Did they also have dolls with clear limbs?  In any case, if I were collecting FR, I'd probably want this one because she's so different.
IT hasn't used the Dasha sculpt much and it's never been received warmly but it remains to be seen if this oddity will be liked.

The companion doll is "Marius Lancaster" as Professor  Young. He is a new sculpt.

When Hollywood pretty boy Marius Lancaster's agent called to tell him that he had landed a major role in Agent 355, he thought to himself: "Sweet, I've got it made, I'm a spy!"
He wasn't as thrilled though, when he found out that he would essentially be "the damsel in distress" and not the spy of this new epic adventure- he wasn't too sure what that would do for his macho "ladies' man" image. To his surprise, the experience on set was one of the best that he ever had and the chemistry with the movie's two lead actresses was pretty hot on film to say the least, especially in that famous scene when Agent 355 comes down from the ceiling to rescue him from Anika's laser cutting table at the last possible second, before the laser cuts him in half! His performance as a fashionably geeky professor in desperate need of rescuing did not go unnoticed by the movie-going public and since his appearance in Mission Lovejoy, the casting offers have been pouring in left and right! So, being a "mister in distress" is not that bad after all it seems, especially when you have two of the most beautiful leading ladies fighting over you... We'll definitely be seeing this guy again in the near future!

Marius Lancaster as Professor Young is a brand new character making his debut in the family of Integrity Toys male figures and comes dressed in a classical, slightly geeky look, complete with red silk tie, handkerchief, super cute argyle socks and oxford shoes, black reading glasses and a watch. Our leading man comes with his half of the formula of the love potion that he invented and a super fun set of colored test tubes in a rack, a never seen before accessory created just for this set! Marius Lancaster is a fully articulated 12.5-inch fashion figure with fully rooted hair.

Apparently "Anja" as Agent 355 has more tools than just a gun which is a good sign.

Parisian top model Anja was noticed in some of W Cosmetics' most notorious campaigns and was ready for new challenges, when her agent came up with the idea that she should give acting a shot. Soon after her very first audition, Anja immediately landed the role of Agent 355, a new kind of ultra-glamorous female spy set to save the world in the latest designer garb! Inspired by current runway looks (and OK, a lot of Las Vegas glitz!), Integrity Toys' Alain Tremblay styled Anja for the title role in Mission Lovejoy, a story he invented just for this year's IFDC convention!
Anja™ as Agent 355 is ready to solve the mystery of Professor Young's disappearance, as she travels abroad and uses every tool in her arsenal to rip him and his secret formula away from the clutches of the evil Anika Luxottica, a cyborg incapable of love and kindness.  In her own uniquely glamorous way, Anja jumps into action wearing her designer inspired sequined tuxedo and killer high-heels like every spy should, gun and camera in-hand! "M" and "Q" gave Anja a detailed mission pack that includes a map, a picture of the mysterious Professor Young and a mission brief. Now, it's up to her to prevent the cyborg from unleashing Young's lethal love potion on the world! Anja™ is a fully articulated 12.5-inch doll with fully rooted hair and hand-applied eyelashes.
These dolls are being offered via lottery to W Club members. Marius and Anja are $150. each. Anika is $175.
