Australian Burger Kings Get Nicer Kid’s Meal Toys Than Us
While we’re getting licensed garbage shoved down our throats, the Australian version of Burger King, Hungry Jack’s, will be giving away these stylish little monsters with their Kid’s Meals in the coming months. Each “Monsters of the World” figure is based on a mythological creature from - you guessed it — a different part of the world, so kids will get to learn about culture AND have some sick toys!
America, you officially need to step up your fast food toy game, like, pronto.

Erick Scarecrow dropping one of a kind Drake tomorrow
I really like it when vinyl artists take a mold and just run with it. Assuming that the base mold looks good, you can change the colors around and make custom designs on the original piece and have it still look fantastic. Take Erick Scarecrow's take on Nathan Drake, the protagonist of the Uncharted games. While the base "OG" model of Drake looks great, Scarecrow has taken that mold and done some pretty nice colorways of the wise-cracking adventurer.
Come tomorrow morning, you have a chance to add another color of Drake to you collection, assuming you're fast enough. According to a post made on ESC-toy's twitter, the new "Desert Mirage" version of Drake will be made available at 11 a.m. tomorrow and he is one of a kind, so I hope you're ready and waiting over at Mirage Drake's page. No word on price, but I'd expect it to be up there, considering the rarity.
I picked up the OG Drake for a buddy of mine when he first came out, so I can attest to how great these figures look. Add a neat paint-job and that's enough to always get my attention. I shake my fist at the eventual owner, knowing that I'll never get a chance to see it. Oh well. If you had a blank Drake, what would you do with it?

I Can’t Tell If This Little Printer Is Awesome Or Just A Waste Of Paper
BERG unveiled their Little Printer to the world last year, and now it’s finally available for pre-order. This tiny gadget syncs up with RSS feds that you configure with your smartphone and then prints out a bite-sized newspaper. It all sounds cool in theory, but wouldn’t it be easier to just, you know… check out your RSS feed ON YOUR SMARTPHONE? The concept is clever and the design is cute, but think about the trees, man!
All that being said, I kind of want one. Now if only someone did something like this with a Game Boy Printer!

Old school gaming inspired art show announced
If you've got yourself a hankering for some art tinged with some old-school gaming values, you are in luck. Urban Vinyl Daily announced an online show called Blow Me: A Tribute to Cartridge Gaming. Running from September 8 - October 8, Blow Me will feature pieces from artists like Jeff Beck, JFury, Spanky Stokes, Carson Catlin and more. The pieces will be made available at the Urban Vinyl Daily webstore. Be sure to check out the flyer in the gallery and keep an eye out on the #blowme hashtag to see some early works in progress. Catlin has already posted a pic of his work and it's looking good thus far!
This seems like it's going to be an interesting show. I dig the theme, I dig the artists, there's no way that I won't like what comes out. Is there any artist on that list that you're particularly looking forward to? Any other artists you'd like to see on the list?

My Little Ponies: They DO Exist!
File under: whuddafuq!? i09 has an interesting write-up on these selectively bred horses with long luscious locks that would make this dude totally jelly. People would basically breed these things, then tour them around the U.S. and charge people to see them. This was way back before laws against false advertising, so it was perfectly okay to tell the kiddies that these were rare and mythical creatures captured by expert hunters.
Probably gonna’ grow my hair out and ride one of these beauties bare-chested through the countryside at some point in my life.
