Transformers Masterpiece Ratchet revealed to no surprise
When Takara Tomy announced Transformers Masterpiece MP-27 Ironhide everyone knew that the Autobot medic Ratchet wasn't far behind. So it came as no surprise to anyone when Nippon-Yassan started taking pre-orders on the unofficially announced figure designated as MP-30. Thankfully this means he's a full fledged mass retail release and not an exclusive as some had feared after what they did with Ramjet.
He also isn't a straight repaint. Ratchet features a new head with swapable expressions, some new body parts, and a bunch of new weapons. He still includes that sled thing for weapon storage so that's great. All of the new weapons appeared in the original cartoon, original animated movie, or the original figure. Honestly I think Ratchet looks much better than Ironhide and I'm looking forward to his release.
Ratchet is expected to come out around April which actually is a bit of a surprise. We've gone years with only a few MP releases a year, but now Takara Tomy has really opened the flood gates. Just in the upcoming releases we've got Tracks for November (out now), Road Rage for December, Ironhide for January, Hot Rod (and the Ultra Magnus rerelease) for February, Shockwave for March, and Ratchet for April. Phew, that's a lot in short time!
On a side note I really wish they would have held off on using the designation MP-30. You see, 2016 is the 30th anniversary of the animated Transformers movie so it would have been perfect to have a movie figure take the 30 spot. Too bad.

HOT TOPIC Goes #BATMAN BAT-MANGA Crazy!!
Here's a quick post to share some fun news about a few brand-new BATMAN products that have a Bat-Manga theme! Over at HOT TOPIC it seems like they have gone crazy with the Bat-Manga merchandise. There are 4 different T-Shirts and also a very cool Baseball Cap!
If you're unfamiliar with Bat-Manga then you need to read Chip Kidd's book, "Bat-Manga: The Secret History of Batman in Japan (Pantheon)" that came out in 2008. This book is what has inspired all the cool products you see here. It reprints some classic Japanese comics from the 1960's with amazing artwork by Jiro Kuwata and it also has a ton of photos of cool Vintage Batman Toys that are all super-rare.
R.I.P. GEORGE BARRIS - Creator of the Classic 1966 #BATMAN TV Series #Batmobile
It's with a heavy heart that I need to share some really sad "Batman News" that I'm sure many of you have already heard about but some of you might not know. George Barris, the Creator of the 1966 BATMAN TV Series Batmobile Car, passed away on November 5th, 2015.
George Barris was known as the "King of Kustomers" and he not only created the Batmobile but he customized a lot of cars for other Movies, TV Shows, and Celebrities. Two quick examples that I can think of are the TV Monkeemobile (The Monkees) and the Munster Koach (TV's Munsters).
Here's a video showing just a few of his other amazing cars. Wow, what a legacy!!
In the many years that I have been writing the BAT-BLOG I have come across a ton of people who have all said they met him, at his shop or at a convention, and every single person I talked too all had the same story, "He was extremely down to earth, very generous with his time, and had a great sense of humor". It sounds to me that he loved his fans and was a really great guy. That is so cool. Thank you Mr. Barris, Rest in Peace Sir.
