Wonder Festival 2015 Summer: Anime Garage Kits (part 1)

$

Now that coverage of Wonder Festival has calmed down a little, we have some time to look at the dealer floor to see what garage kit makers have brought to the event. The good news is that there was no depressingly large domination by KanKolle this time around, which means a much wider spread.

Love Live increased quite a bit in prominence but the bigger surprise was the reveal of several kits of the ladies from ShiroBako! That was definitely something which I was not expecting! The God Ginrai/Powermaster Optimus Prime from Burivari System was also very cool, shame it didn't transform though.

We still have more to come from the dealer floor so don't go anywhere quite just yet!

Wonder Festival 2015 Summer: Kotobukiya

Kotobukiya was no slouch at WonFes, bringing a spate of ambitious-looking figures alongside their Cu-Poche and Bishoujo lineups. I like that Kotobukiya has produced more and more elaborate designs over the years across a wide variety of properties. Of course, you'll also see representatives of the trendier shows as well.

Here are some of my personal highlights:

  • Mikleo from Tales of Zestiria
  • Kirika Towa Alma from Shining Resonance
  • Mystery Warden Spinne, a beautiful design from Rage of Bahamut
  • Vania, another great one from Rage of Bahamut
  • Chino Kafuu from Is the Order a Rabbit?
  • Freesia, an original design from Tony Taka adding to his two other fairy designs
  • Kusuriuri from Mononoke, a rad looking male figure
  • Rinna Mayfield from Shining Resonance
  • Fuyuka Yukishiro from Swords & Wizards
  • An adorable new Shinobu from Monogatari Series Second Season
  • A Cu-Poche Hestia

There are plenty more intriguing figures, including more from Rage of Bahamut, more in the Bishoujo lineup, Girls und Panzer, KanColle, the list just goes on! Check out the coverage at Hobby Search, Akiba Hobby, and Moeyo to see it all.

[NSFW] Wonder Festival 2015 Summer: Alphamax/Skytube

Alphamax (especially with their Skytube brand) tends to be on the racier side of figure manufacturers. They also seem to really like Tony Taka, which can make identifying these figures a chore... Anyway, they brought some real lookers to WonFes.

I tried to grab some of the more worksafe images to share here, but be aware that many of these figures are ecchi in nature. There were quite a few original characters from Tony Taka, my favorite being the pair of frilly-dressed ladies who look suspiciously like the Valkyries from Odin Sphere. Other sculpts I like include Sonia Blanche from Shining Resonance, and a really cute Saber Extra.

You can see more from Alphamax and Skytube at Hobby Search, Akiba Hobby, and Moeyo but beware they are very NSFW! Especially Moeyo...

Thanks to Deruji for providing a translation, everyone can now hear some of designer Shogo Hasui's insights towards the development of Devastator, as detailed in the recent issue of Figure King magazine. Among the more interesting points is confirmation of fan theories that Devastator, at least to Hasui, is also effectively a stand-in for a Masterpiece version of the character. There's a lot of great material in here, so click through to read more!

Combiner Wars Devastator - Possible Breakage Issue To Watch Out For

Coming via Josue Cahua of the Transformers Colombia Facebook group, we've got a word of warning about Titan Class Devastator tonight. While we haven't been able to track the original source yet, an image was posted showing Mixmaster severely cracked, with an attached warning to not over extend the Devastator ankle tilt joint. We can't know how likely this is to happen in general, or if this resulted from pushing the toy beyond its clear limits. But we want to make sure everyone is aware to be on the lookout and take care with Devastator's left leg. Keep reading to see the full image!
