SDCC 2015: Sideshow Collectibles
Sideshow Collectibles never disappoints at San Diego Comic Con, and this year's booth was no different. Once again an impressive showing of all their licensed merchandise, the booth this year had something for just about any comic book or movie fan out there.
Some of the highlights:
- Yep, there's a Premium Format Red Son Superman and Wonder Woman, both due out in 2016. They're US$469.99 each and make me wish I were filthy rich so I could afford them both.
- Tons of other DC characters in the Premium Format series as well, including Power Girl, Aquaman and Lobo. Yes, Lobo, along with Dawg, who I believe are more recent releases.
- Don't worry, Marvel's there, too. The Sixth Scale Figure line has Punisher and Deadpool in the mix, along with Wolverine.
- An unpainted Voltron maquette looks fairly impressive, though it's a much sleeker design than the toys you used to play with.
- Speaking of 1980s toys, He-Man and Skeletor's Premium Format figures were at the booth in prototype form ... and wow. That's all I have to say about them.
- Rounding out the list -- at least for me -- are the two Ralph McQuarrie Premium Format figures of Boba Fett and the Stormtrooper, alongside a pretty cool-looking Sixth Scale Beetlejuice. Seriously, we could use more Beetlejuice.
