My Linda's How-Do-I Series? How To Make My Nursery Baby Girl and Boy Wood Plaque Decorations Free E-Book

Who doesn't love adorable pink and blue decorations for a babies nursery? I know I do - especially when I can sponge paint them.

During my sponge painted shadowbox phase, several years ago, I thought bright pink and blue shadowbox plaque decorations would be pretty hanging on a nursery wall. So, I designed a pink one for girls and a blue one for boys.

The 9" by 11 1/2" plaques are sponge  painted with sponge painted 'Girl" and "Boy" letters.

I had so much fun making these I thought you might enjoy a free e-book on how to make some of your own.

Embrace Japan's Chun-Li figure is ready to hit the streets

Street Fighter is back in a big way, and Embrace Japan is celebrating that with the pre-order of their Chun-Li figure. I have to say, it's... weird. Although the header image isn't too bad, dig deeper through the product shots and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Her face looks a bit off, and her proportions are just odd. I know she's the archetypal thunder thighs girl, but her thighs are so exaggerated while the rest of her frame is super lanky. Add in those torpedo boobs and I'm not sure a human being - even a fictional one - should look like that.

This 1/8-scale piece is up for pre-order for ¥10,000. It's set for an October release; hopefully the exchange rate is still favorable then because I would not want to pay almost $100 for this one.

My Linda's How-Do-I Series? How To Make My Nursery Baby Girl and Boy Flower Basket Shadowbox Decorations Free E-Book

I love to create sponge painted shadowboxes and look for every opportunity to do so.

During my sponge painted shadowbox phase, several years ago, I thought bright pink and blue shadowbox decorations would be pretty hanging on a nursery wall. So, I designed a pink one for girls and a blue one for boys.

The 6" square shadowboxes are sponge and solid painted with handmade silk ribbon embroidery flowers in a half wicker basket and adorned with a large wired bow. Silk florals are used as fillers.

The e-book contains instructions for making wire ribbon gathered and petal flowers.

I had so much fun making these I thought you might enjoy a free e-book on how to make some of your own.

You rang, fans? ArtFX+ Alfred Pennyworth announced for SDCC

[UPDATE: Pre-orders are live]

Kotobukiya recently showed off images of a member of the Bat-family that few people expected we'd ever see: Alfred Pennyworth, Bruce Wayne's long-serving butler and surrogate father.

The ArtFX+ Alfred will be a SDCC exclusive although a small number will be sold on Kotobukiya's site at 10:00 AM PST on Friday, June 12 (ie, today). So hopefully you're reading this *BEFORE* the figures are sold out!

As far as convention exclusives go, it's hard to do better than this. Alfred is a key supporting figure in the Batman mythos but, at the same time, he's (probably) not popular enough to warrant a normal release. As crazy as it sounds, though, I find Alfred more appealing than the vast majority of ArtFX+ figures (Full editorial disclosure: So far my ArtFX+ collection consists of zero figures... although that'll probably change as the ArtFX+ Super Powers line sees release).

Part of this is no doubt due to the fact that there's something neat about a guy like Alfred even getting a statue in the line. There's a certain charm to a butler having his day and he'd certainly stand out on any shelf (maid figures, on the other hand, are quite common on collectors' shelves!). However, he's also a very nicely done figure and the tea tray is a nice touch.

Kotobukiya's ArtFX+ Alfred Pennyworth can be pre-ordered for US$35. Pre-order now, since he likely won't be available long given the limited quantity.

Kongou sisters assemble... for a relaxing tea time

It looks like Good Smile Company's planning/development team also has fans of the Kongou sisters as they've posted a neato gallery showing off all four of them. I only know them from the Kantai Collection anime, but that's good because they're my favorite characters of the show!

While all four come with pretty cool effects pieces to show off their firepower, the gallery focuses more on the tea time set. As Kongou herself was originally built in England, she has a fondness for tea (and a hilarious propensity to insert random English words into her speech). All four Nendoroids come with pieces to complete the set. I really wish I had ordered these now just for the extra Nendoroid parts!

Check out the entire gallery at Good Smile Company's development blog. And remember to stay away from Hiei's curry!
