Masterpiece Star Saber Top Selling Toy In Japan Last Week?

Toynes.jp has posted its weekly toy sales rankings, and it pegs an interesting item in the top position. Leading its "comprehensive" Top 5 is Masterpiece Star Saber which with its 3/21 release date just barely made the reporting period from March 16th to 22nd. Following it in the list are two items from the current Super Sentai series, and two Yokai Watch items. While we can't be sure if this counts delivered presales, on the spot purchases, or both, it's not hard to imagine Star Saber was a big seller on its release weekend and may have been the biggest of all!

Play Arts Kai Boba Fett and Stormtrooper, what could go wrong?
I'm still not sure what to make of the Play Arts Kai Variant Series. It's cool that they're willing to take risks with beloved characters, but I'm not exactly much of a fan of some of the results. I really don't know what to make of the two latest Star Wars pieces, Boba Fett and Stormtrooper.
On one hand, they're sleek, polished, and modern. They look like they were designed for your top AAA VG sci-fi shooter that goes on clearance a month later. It's not a bad thing, but this just isn't my thing. Then again, it's a decent update. For what it is, I can see the appeal. Considering all the effect pieces, it makes for an impressive display. Boba Fett is giving off a very Dredd vibe and the Stormtrooper actually looks menacing. Maybe I can grow to like these a bit more...
Then I look at the price: 12,000¥. Yeah, no thanks Square-Enix. There's no way in Dagobah that I'm paying that much for these. Find someone else come July when these are released.
