[UPDATE: Pre-orders have opened]
Is it possible for a figure to look too much like its movie counterpart? Hot Toys just now released a photo gallery for its upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron Ultron Prime (not to be confused with cousin Optimus) and, well, the figure almost looks like it's CGI.
Some of the close-up shots of the body confirm that this is indeed a figure (and not some computer representation of a character or figure), but that head-sculpt is absolutely uncanny. It almost looks like it was ripped from the film (or trailer, as the case may be... or stills from the trailer. The important thing is that the detail is crazy).
Aiding in this effect, of course, is a LED light-up head and upper torso which makes the silver pop even more. Ultron is listed as being 41-cm tall (that's roughly 16-inches) and he features FULLY ARTICULATED HANDS! That's right, no hand-swapping here: Ultron is individually jointed at the knuckles and middle-segment of the finger (and possibly also right before the finger tip?). It's a cool touch that we don't always see in the Hot Toys line.
Given the listed size and lighting effects, I expect that Ultron will probably go for around the same price as that awesome Hot Toys Thanos.
UPDATE: Pre-orders are now open. Hot Toys' Ultron Prime will run you a sizable US$375 which is US$40 cheaper than Thanos (probably due to Thanos' bulk and the fact he comes with a throne). He's scheduled to ship between January and March of 2016.
