Sometimes It Pays To Never Throw Anything Away

Sometimes it pays not to throw something away.

At least, that's the rule, for a crafter.

You just never know what you may need for some future creation.

At least, that's what I keep telling myself as I'm running out of craft space.

In any event, in a previous Linda's Blog post entitled "What Was Once A Beautiful Natural Arrangement Became A Beautiful Silk Floral Arrangement" I told you about a trip to Michaels and my buying more silk floral than I needed for a silk floral arrangement I wanted to re-create.

And, remember I told you I had more than one silk floral arrangement in mind...

Well, I had decided that I wanted to make another Christmas silk floral arrangement that we could take out year, after year, after year using an adorable red and green striped ceramic base that was part of a beautiful natural floral arrangement that was given to me by my son-in-law and grandchildren for Christmas many years ago.

The base was large and was actually something that could be used as a cookie jar as it even came with a red and green striped cover.

I had saved it all these years as I thought it would make a fabulous base for a Christmas silk floral arrangement. Remember, I said you just never know when something could be useful for a current creation.

Well, this was the right time to put that base to good use as I had more than enough silk floral to create the Christmas bulb arrangement I wanted to re-create and to create a fabulous arrangement using this base.

The base was rather large so I knew I needed a lot of silk floral sprigs. Plus, you know how I like my silk floral arrangements to be full.

Well, I ended up using all the silk floral I had bought at Michaels so everything had been put to good use - even though some of the floral sprigs were at full price.

I was pleased with the arrangement.

Hubby thought the arrangement was absolutely beautiful.

And, my son-in-law thought the arrangement looked beautiful.

And, a ceramic base from years ago became a sentimental keepsake.

See - it pays to never throw anything out.......

I need more craft space......

Wave lets you make your own lingerie Saber harem

Some ideas you could have sworn have been done before. Sure, there's plenty of Saber figures to go around. Someone has had to have made them in various states of sleeptime apparel, especially of Saber. Surprisingly, it does not exist until now. Wave, the company that brought you various anime girls in various swimsuits, will now bring you various versions of Saber in various sleeptime apparel, ahem, lingerie.

The collection features four versions of Saber: Fate/Stay, Extra, Lily, and Alter. The company will give you the Saber of your choice on a lush pillow, which will give your Saber of choice a pedestal higher than those of your other waifus. The figures themselves are 1/8 scale, so this is a step up from Wave's usual 1/10 offerings. While the pieces are rather bland, they make for an interesting presentation when they're all paired together. What that presentation is though, that's another take.

Looking at these though, they're rather uninspiring. Much like the Beach Queens line, the outfits just aren't that great. They're dull and feel slapped on. Saber Alter is only half done because she's just laid out without her top. The pillow is her top. I'm guessing this is what they call characterization. The others are just kind of there and all together, just feels like a really bad doujin fantasization. At the price tag it is, it might as well be just fantasy.

Each piece, along with a bonus edition collecting all of them, will be released in July. If you choose your Saber by the piece, you'll shell out 10,584¥ each. While this is high for a 1/8 scale piece, the price is boosted by the presence of a pillow and display base. If you buy the whole room, er Sabers, you'll pay 48,600¥ per retail price. As to why you'll be paying about 6,000¥ more for all of them, this version has a lit base and a case to go over it, protecting your Sabers from the elements of your bedroom and peering eyes of judgment.

I get the feeling that this is going to be a new line for Wave. Lingerie Style is the new Beach Queens. It's simple and appeals to the otaku market. Clearly, this is Wave's best work since the Beach Queens Palm Tree.

PSA: Nendoroid Pokemon Trainer Red available via US Pokecenter

Over the past week, we've received a number of tips (and reminders) that Good Smile Company's Nendoroid Pokemon Trainer Red is now available through the U.S. Pokemon Center. So, for the handful of people who didn't see the news on Facebook, Twitter, etc, yes, you can get Nendoroid Red for a lot cheaper than if you imported him

The figure was previously a Japanese Pokemon Store exclusive which meant higher prices for Western fans. The fact that he now has a Western release is one of those news stories that should have run sooner but, given that the announcement was over half a year later than the announcement for his original release, our enthusiasm was running dangerously low. True be told, at US$50 I might *still* probably going to give him a pass at this point (especially because I finally skipped Nendoroid Gilgamesh). However, if he ever goes on clearance, I have every intention of snapping him up.

Nendoroid Red includes a set of Kanto starting Pokemon (Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle), a Pokedex, a Pokeball, and a Master Ball. Speaking of, why is that we so often see Master Ball accessories? They're 1-per-game, after all (unless you clone them) and almost never actually used because you keep saving them for a rainy day. Oh well, I guess you can't complain about an extra accessory!

GSC's Nendoroid Pokemon Red can ordered for US$50. If he sells well here as well, perhaps GSC will produce other Nendoroid Pokemon Trainers in the future as well.

Nendoroid Tomoyo pre-orders aim to put girls on film

I've already spent my fair share of time raving over the adorable Nendoroid Cardcaptor Sakura, but as everyone knows a magical girl is nothing without her friends to back her up. That's why I'm delighted to pass on the news that Sakura's constant companion Tomoyo Daidouji has now joined the Nendoroid army.

We've known about her for a while of course, but today was the one two punch of a Kahotan preview and pre-orders going live, so there's plenty to get excited about. Tomoyo's pretty light on acessories given her relatively mundane nature, but she is blessed with three magnificent expressions. There's a really neat bit of attention to detail that allows Nendoroid Sakura to have her head swapped onto the body, complete with hat. Ther real killer for me though is the Good Smile Online Shop exclusive, which is a 'smug version' of Kero that's so painfully adorable I might need to stump up for it.

Overall, it's quite a simple figure but the charm of the character is enough to overcome all of my reservations. Tomoyo comes into the picture in June of next year for ¥4,800, so hit the links below if you feel like having a camera lady for your Nendoroid Sakura.
