A Call to Action (Figures): Horror Figures
It’s October, which means I’m filling my DVR with TV edits of classic and not-so-classic (Leprechaun: In the Hood, anyone?) scary movies. I’ve heard lots of theories for why humans watch horror: it gives us an adrenaline rush, it puts a corporeal form to our anxieties, it helps us to make sense of some of […]

DC Comics joins Funko's Mystery Minis line
Funko has officially unveiled its DC Comics Super Heroes Mystery Minis line which includes heavy-hitting heroes like Powergirl, Superman, and Batman, along with popular villains like Harley Quinn, Deathstroke, Lex Luthor, and Black Manta. Plus the sculpting is pretty cool in most cases.
Although the set includes many of the expected characters -- Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, etc -- I was pleasantly surprised to see the series include a few lesser-used characters like Powergirl, Martian Manhunter, and Professor Zoom (albeit Zoom is a pretty easy redeco).
The full line-up consists of Superman, Black Manta, Batman (black & gray), Green Lantern (Hal Jordan), Wonder Woman, Powergirl, a super rare White Lantern Batman, Harley Quinn, Professor Zoom, Aquaman, "television series" Batman (classic blue & gray), powersuit Lex Luthor, metallic Harley Quinn, Flash, Deathstroke, Martian Manhunter, Professor Zoom, and a super rare White Lantern Hal Jordan. The rarity for most of these is a basic 1/12 but Black Manta, Martian Manhunter, Lex Luthor, and "television series" Batman are a higher 1/24 while a few others are 1/36 or 1/72.
Although I know that the style of the Mystery Minis line doesn't appeal to all fans, but I'm personally looking forward to these. Expect to see the series hit shelves in January.
