figma blog shows off Cardcaptor Sakura prototype
As I've noted several times before, I'm a huge Cardcaptor Sakura fan and the series's recent return to the front lines of the anime toy world has filled me with unmitigated glee. We've known for a while now that Max Factory would be producing a figma version of heroine Sakura Kinomoto, but a new post on the official company blog gives us a first chance to get a good look at her.
Still in unpainted prototype form, Sakura is nonetheless already looking extremely sharp. Like her Nendoroid and trading figure counterparts, she's portrayed in probably the most iconic of her many outfits, an ultra frilly pink number from the first opening. It's pretty challenging to reproduce in small scale, but Max Factory look to have done a fine job, and they promise an innovative new bit of design will make sure she retains maximum posability despite all those ruffles. There's also a glimpse of the included accessories, which seem to pretty much match the Nendoroid. We get miniature Kero and Sakura's sealing wand in both regular and 'Fly' broomstick-style forms.
I can't lie, I'm very excited. I swore off of figmas quite a while ago, but I doubt I'll be able to resist this one. Here's hoping we get more details, and some coloured shots, very soon.

Ponder no more: figma The Thinker is up for pre-order
Rodin's "The Thinker" being made into a figma can be described as "interesting," "a bizarre decision" or "literally figures as art." It can also now be described as up for pre-order! The first entry in Max Factory's Table Museum line, figma The Thinker comes with full poseability, his rocky base, and extra hand, chest and head parts.
I imagine this will be a fairly popular figma for customizers, as there's a lack of large male bodies for figmas, much less ones with no clothing. You can pick him up for ¥3,980, but don't expect to start pondering (or customizing) until May 2015.

CinemaSins' Everything Wrong With Transformers: Age of Extinction Is Two Parts & 32 Minutes Long
CinemaSins has posted the latest installment in their "Everything Wrong With) series, covering Transformers: Age of Extinction... and it's a two-part video clocking in at a total of 32 minutes. This Year's Chinese New Year Platinum Edition Figures Year Of The Goat Masterpiece Soundwave And... Laser Optimus Prime?
The Year of the Goat is nearly here, and courtesy of Robotkingdom we know that Hasbro as always is readying a pair of commemorative Platinum Edition figures for Asian markets and US ToysRus stores. This year it's Masterpiece Soundwave and the Laser Optimus Prime mold from late G2. Huh? Agnes Von Weiss Gift Set Saga and Amazing Deja Vu Repaint
It's been pretty quiet doll-wise around here which is not actually a bad thing.
Here's long version of what happened with my pre-ordered High Visibility Agnes Von Weiss Doll Mini Gift Set:
1. The first shipment to me of my two sets were shipped to some location in Delaware. By that time I had heard about the mold and other defective issues people were reporting and I was very wary. I wanted to cancel my order but they would not refund my deposit so I agreed to accept a new delivery.
2. The two new dolls arrived, both with glaring defects. Customer service agreed to replace both giftsets and sent me a return postage label.
3. The third shipment of dolls was worse even though, according to Alain, Percy himself inspected both dolls. One doll had mold down her dress and heaven knows where else. I was afraid to touch the doll. The other doll had a large patch of unrooted hair.
The shipment back to them contained four sets of dolls and I received a full refund.
What a waste of time for me and a sorry state of affairs for them.
Here's hoping that the Fifth Anniversary Poppy Parker Joyous Celebration dolls do not have any issues. They should be arriving any minute.

This is the work of Leslie at Sands of Fire. She has achieved major realism and depth. The open mouth looks appropriate on this face. She could be Cinderella before being turned into a princess. Beautiful!
