Discovery Takes Control of Hub Network, Will Rebrand
[at Bloomberg] - Discovery Communications Inc. (DISCA) acquired control of The Hub from partner Hasbro Inc. (HAS) and will rename the children’s TV network Discovery Family Channel as it looks to broaden its family and children’s programming. Hasbro received a $64.4 million cash payment from Discovery under the reorganization. Discovery Family Channel, which will debut on Oct. 13, will offer kids shows including “My Little Pony” and “Transformers” during the day. The cable operator of networks such as Discovery Channel and Animal Planet sold a 50 percent interest in its Discovery Kids network to toymaker Pawtucket, Rhode Island-based Hasbro for $300 million in 2009, renaming it The Hub.

Play With This Too Reveal Designs for Astroblast Figure
A new company called Play With This Too was formed recently, made up of several former Hasbro exployees. They plan a startup in February with a crowd sourced figure. The PWTT figure design, while not an homage to any existing Hasbro products, is made along similar ideas. There will be heroes and monsters. It will feature a 6 inch tall figures with reconfigurable armor and lots of 5mm ports. Released already is concept art for one of their heroic designs called Astroblast.

The Hub No More - Channel Transforms To Discovery Family on 10/13, But Hasbro Programming Remains
Variety reports that the Hub will, as previously rumored, become the Discovery Family Channel on October 13th.
