[Update: Hey, look, pre-orders are up. Find them down below.]
Coming into the Sword Art Online 2 anime I wasn't really sure what to expect from series newcomer Sinon. The early previews made her look like the cold, emotionless type, and she certainly does try her best to give off that air. Thankfully she turned out to be much more multidimensional, even more so than much of the existing supporting cast. Let's face it, Kirito and Asuna were pretty boring people before Aincrad. But not Sinon, oh no, she's got a background story and everything.
But that's really neither here nor there, let's take a moment to admire all the effort that went into her new Nendoroid figure. First things first, I really love how crisp and clean her lines are. The contrast between the white and green with the thin lines in between are quite nicely done, very sharp. The second thing I'm drawn to is the eyes. Nendoroids are known for having colorful eyes, but the combination of colors, shading, reflections, and shape give them so much depth you forget they're painted onto a flat surface.
Outside of aesthetics she has quite a few nice little features. For one you'll notice she has elbow joints, a real rarity among Nendoroids. She also had the back of her head sculpted in such a way that she can lift her head up, but you can't tell from looking at it. Combine the two and you've got a Nendoroid that's even capable of an army crawling pose perfect for sniping. Add to that the extra scarf made for when she's laying prone on her stomach and you've got a Nendo that can be displayed like none other in your collection. Also notice that she has her backup pistol secured to the back of her shorts. As far as expressions go she's got her normal stoic expression and a cute blushing face. That's one less face than a lot of Nendos get, but you have to figure you're making up for it with the elbows plus there's an extra bent right leg and muzzle flash effect as well.
No word on price yet, but we do know she'll be out in December. Pre-orders should be starting at the usual suspects tonight so don't forget to get your order in and get ready for some Gun Gale action!
