DAY 2 for San Diego Comic-Con #SDCC2014
SDCC 2014: Mondo
Last week brought the surprise announcement that Mondo, mostly known for their T-shirts and posters, were entering the collectibles realm, and at SDCC, we got to see exactly what they have in store. A lot of you were really, REALLY excited about the Iron Giant figure, and having seen him in person, I can say the hype is justified. He's a massive 16 inches tall, and yes, DamonDaSaru, that Iron Giant is articulated and comes with two different heads so you can swap them out. Also at the booth is a replica of one of the Iron Giant's bolts, which will be up for pre-order in August or September.
Mondo's Alfred Hitchcock 1/6-scale figure did seem to be getting a bit of buzz from those who stopped by the booth. The head sculpt is pretty darn good, and the accessories (like the pair of birds) feel fitting for the cinema legend. Pre-orders are expected sometime in the fall.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans should . The black-and-white First Turtle vinyl figure was joined by both the adorable Lil' Mikey collectible (which is actually huge; it's at least 8 inches tall) and a little surprise in the form of a Mouser two-pack. The Mousers will be 1/6 scale and will have articulation, too, so you can have them chase down your other figures and/or family pet, if you'd like.

SDCC 2014: Tamashii Nations - Sailor Moon
It wasn't too hard to spot the Sailor Moon merchandise in Bluefin/Tamashii Nations' booth this year, with plenty of folks gathered around the cases, snapping photos of the figures inside. All eight currently announced S.H. Figuarts Sailor Moon pieces were all there, including Sailors Uranus, Neptune and Saturn.
If you've been following Tomopop, none of the figures there will be new announcements to you, but it's still nice to see them in person. They look to be pretty standard fare for the S.H. Figuarts Sailor Moon line, so if you liked (or disliked) the other Senshi they've done, you'll probably feel the same about these three. And since Neptune and Uranus are Tamashii Web Shop exclusives in Japan, they are apparently going to cost more here as well at US$50 each.
Figuarts Zero Sailor Venus and Mercury were also at the booth, joined by Figuarts Zero Sailor Moon. Of the two, Mercury is probably going to be the one to get your attention with the effects parts/base she'll be coming with. Venus looks alright as well, though she doesn't have as lively of a feel as Mercury does. Some of you guys and gals weren't so hot on Figuarts Zero Sailor Moon for various sculpting reasons, but are Mercury and Venus something you're more excited about?
