I have been looking forward to taking my 5th class at Artful Gathering for several months.  It's ART-S2-307 The Imaginarium: Anthologies of an Art Doll with Mary Jane Chadbourne and is a mixed media doll class.

My class started on Wednesday and I can already tell it's gong to be a fabulous class.  Fantastic teacher and wonderful group of students.  I just know I'm going to have a blast.

I've never created mixed media dolls before so this will be new for me.

Don't worry - I'll be sure to blog about my creations.

YIPPEE! My 5th Artful Gathering class started.

Capo Toys has finally provided some release details for its Street Fighter line and... (wait for it...) it's going through Kickstarter.

Ryu, the first figure in the line, now has an active Kickstarter campaign which, at the time of writing, is US$3,225 towards reaching its US$85,000 goal. There's currently no word whether the entire line will be run through Kickstarter. The figures will feature over 19 points of articulation (mostly ball-joints) with a limited use of micro-fiber (including Ryu's headband and belt, Sagat's shorts, etc). While the wording is a little confusing, it appears that (at least) several versions of Ryu will be exclusive to the Kickstarter campaign including both solid-color artist proof editions.

Back when we first saw the prototypes back in January, I thought that the line looked really promising. I had never heard of Capo Toys, but I figured the company had to be pretty legit to land licensing from Capcom. As such, I'm more than a little surprised to see the company launch a Kickstarter. Here's to hoping that it'll get funded (there's still plenty of time left and it's a popular franchise) so we can see the later entries in the line.

Always highly anticipated and never disappointing, Cholo Ayuyao has released the images of his new collection entitled Sheer Madness. The collection consists of 10 OOAK magnificent fashions which are now open for silent bidding.

Im so excited to announce that the Spring Summer '14 Collection "Sheer Madness" will be out this July 19, 2014, Saturday 9:00PM, Philippine Standard Time. There will be ten looks up for silent bidding after the online presentation via my Flickr account (just click my flickr account icon on your right side) and further information regarding how to bid will be posted here on my blog also. Since we all come from different parts of the world, hence different times, there will be a 24 hour bidding time, so everyone gets a chance.

Sheer Madness came from this idea while I was competing for the Couture Doll Design Challenge, CDDC, Years back during one challenge. A famous fashion forward actress was so into herself and her fashion to the point of being admitted to a mental institution from too much fabulosity. Even in her lockdown, she imagined herself in sheer embellished straight jackets and gowns, her mind twisting and turning with the ideas of grandeur and opulence. I thought this year will be a great opportunity to do that idea and actually expand it into 10 looks. I made one single pattern for every look, but different treatments in terms of embellishments. all looks are made of layered tulle, corset back for versatile fit. Five looks are fitted on Numina body, which could also fit Inamorata dolls, JS and Deva and similar size dolls, and the other five, fitted for sybs, which could also fit JS and RDG dolls. Embellishments are translation of the fashionista's crazy mind. its opulent, there's movement, intersecting, parallel lines of twinkling beads and finished off with textures of florets, tulles amd embossed fabric flowers. Instead of wigs, I opted for a lace headgear with a gag mask. The dolls are all barefoot this season though.

(You may click on the photos to bring them to full size.)

Cholo told me that "since darker colored dolls are close to my heart, I've added 3 looks specially for aa skin toned dolls."

These are his favorites of the collection.

See more photos on Cholo's Flickr:  https://www.flickr.com/photos/becholo/

The 2005 board has posted an image from the recent Las Vegas Licensing Expo of Bumblebee, Sideswipe and Mini-Con Fixit from the upcoming Robots In Disguise cartoon. More will presumably be revealed in the coming week at SDCC, but for now 2005 has assembled an overview of what we know from all available news sources, some dating back to late 2013. Keep reading for a mirrored sample image and a link to the article.

Max Factory's figma Motoko Kusanagi (Stand Alone Complex ver.) is currently available for pre-order.

figma Motoko was first unveiled at Winter WonFes earlier this year where it received the expected amount of excitement. While I was also really hyped at the time, I can't help but think that the timing is a little off. I mean, where was this figure five or more years ago when I really wanted a Motoko figure for my shelf? Sure, an articulate SAC version of Motoko has long been on my figure wish list (the CM's Corp one just didn't cut it), but my want level has gone from 11 down to a 5 over the years.

That's not to say that figma Motoko doesn't look great; on the contrary, Max Factor has done a wonderful job on the sculpting and paint (although the standard face is so-so). The official images feature some cool poses. She comes with three faces (standard, shouting, and smiling) and two weapons (Seburo A5 and Seburo C26A). However... it's just not as exciting now.

Given that the SAC design is probably my favorite Motoko design (as much as I enjoyed the original Ghost in the Shell I never liked its art and I wasn't a fan of the manga) and that the series was, at one point, among my favorite anime, I feel like I'll probably wind up buying a copy. I just wish that Max Factory had released it at a time when I both more into the show and more into the figma line (not to mention when the line was more affordable).

Max Factory's figma Motoko Kusanagi can be pre-ordered for ¥4,800 and is slated for a December release.
