MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Alter goes back to the well for a new Fate Testarossa
Man, remember when Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha was the hottest thing in the figure world? A few years back it seemed like we'd get a new Nanoha or Fate figure every week. A lot of those figures were made by Alter (I own myself own three Nanohas and three Fates by the company) and even though the fire has died down since then, it seems the big A still sees something in the franchise. That's presumably why they've shown off a brand new Fate, in a generous 1/7 scale and this time inspired by her look in the latest Nanoha movie.
While overexposure dulled much of the characters' appeal, Nanoha figures always generally remained impressive through the use of enormous dresses and capes and honking great big weapons. That's definitely what Alter has gone for here, expanding Fate's cape to practicality-damning lengths and gifting her a colossal version of her Zanber form weapon. It's very reminiscent of their seminal Phantom Minds version of the character, for my money one of the best ever interpretations.
It all looks very impressive, but I have to wonder if people are sort of sick of nanoha figures by this point. It feels as if the collecting community has sort of moved on, but if anyone can bring them back it's Alter. I'm eager to see Fate in colour and decide if I'll get back on this train.

MegaHobby Expo Spring 2014: Time to take over the world with School Uniforms!
In a bit of a surprise twist, Megahouse announced a new line of figures at Megahobby Expo in the shape of the World Uniform Operation. Essentially, they plan on releasing figures of characters in their respective school uniform designs. Let's hope that they're just more interesting than the beach queen figures!!
First up are characters from Saki, Nisekoi, Mahouka Koukou no Retousei, BiriBiri and... Sailor moon? Well, I guess Usagi has the most traditional of the lot thus far and, to be honest, I'm surprised that it's taken this long for something like this to happen!
How about you, readers? Are there any school uniform designs you want to see released?

S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 2014 Figure Stomps into Action
Tamashii Nations has just unveiled their S.H. MonsterArts Godzilla 2014 figure in celebration of the character’s 60th birthday. This comes shortly after the release of the Godzilla 2014 movie by Gareth Edwards. I’ve not seen the film and the only Godzilla film I’ve seen is the Roland Emmerich one, so I can’t really say how […]

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: Alter didn't make Neptunia's Black Heart just for you, you know
We've seen Hyperdimension Neptunia figures and merchandise for the game and anime series from a number of figure companies like Wing and quesQ, now Alter is ready to make their first jump into the franchise. They're finally revealing their take on the HDD mode of Lastation's resident tsundere CPU Noire after announcing her some three months ago.
Though unpainted, they've clearly made the most dynamic looking Neptunia figure yet. Black Heart is shown dashing into battle with sword in hand. I love the off-kiltered angle of the figure even though that might lead to a bit of leaning over time. Well, it's Alter, I'm sure they know what they're doing. No release info yet, but with the summer convention season fast approaching I'm sure we'll be seeing her in color soon.

MegaHobby Expo 2014 Spring: MegaHouse's Yato will certainly cost more than ¥5
I have to admit I'm a little surprised that the first figure released for the anime series Noragami is the main character Yato. I know that seems a little strange to say, but come on, it's a guy. I was really sure the first would be the not-a-cat tailed Hiyori because, you know, she's a girl and this is Japan. Not that I'm disappointed, I'm always happy to see companies, in this case MegaHouse, buck the trend every now and then. Well, he will be part of the G.E.M. series which is dominated by male characters...
Sculpting looks pretty good, but the obvious draw, besides being a decreasingly rare male figure, is the appearance of him floating in mid air. I'm a sucker for non-typical posing like this. He's shown with a bottle which could be sake or it could be miracle cure he got from some huckster, it's hard to tell when it comes to the former war god that will do any job from finding cats to cleaning bathrooms for ¥5.
No real info on prize and release date just yet. I really hope they announce Hiyori and Yukine, if they did that I'd order for sure!
