From Painting, to print, to prototype? Luke Chueh has just unveiled an upcoming figure, which looks to be based on his recent print release with 1xRun, “Boba Fett”. With the quick sell out of the print, this will probably even more hot! Stay tuned on more information on this figure.

Disney Pixar CARSLand: Sarge’s Hut or My House?

Sarge’s Hut or My Display? Okay, it’s Sarge’s Hut at CARSLAND – my display is not quite as nice (plywood and dirt is almost the same) – though I would never mistakenly put two of the above CARS in a Wheel Well display. Thanks for the great pics, “Nikko.” The little piazza looks great – […]

C2E2 2014: Little Brass Bird

Little Brass Bird peddles all manner of plush creations. They're based on animals, foods, and even internal organs. This year they're creating an animated web series alongside their newest plush line: Dr. Franklin Meow Meow.

Dr. Frankling Meow Meow is clearly a respected cat and gentleman (you can tell by the monocle). The display has him among his collection of natural curiosities, which are other plush items in glass jars. I rather enjoyed the display.

Check out the gallery to get an idea of the plush madness going on. You want a plush block of feta cheese? A plush stomach? Little Brass Bird has all the plush you could ever want!

C2E2 2014: Nerd City

I'm not sure why bat excrement is commonly associated with craziness, but I suppose it wouldn't do to have a metaphor that made sense. I bring this up because, wow, Nerd City's booth was pretty crazy.

They have some fairly normal figures too, which I'd encourage you to check out. But what caught my eye at C2E2 was their Battle Babies line of customs. The poster says "kitbashed army figure" but they're way crazier than that. I'm talking about a poster that features a gorilla helicopter. Just check out the gallery and try to appreciate the wackiness.

Good Smile Company Lab reminds us Nendoroid play sets are still a thing

It's been a while since a proper Nendoroid play set blipped my radar. Play Future just put one up for pre-order under the Nendoroid More label developed by GSC Lab, and though the design isn't too crazy or inventive, with so many Nendo-sized figures out there wearing school uniforms, a classroom play set is sensible. This is the first in a new series called CUBE, which makes me feel optimistic we'll get more varied backdrops for our little deformed friends.

I do have my misgivings, though. The old play sets were actual sturdy structures that you can snap together, and this new one appears to be made of paper, though the accessories are plastic and 3D. I'm not sure how I feel about that, and the finish of the paper could make or break a photo shoot depending on your set up and know-how (notice in the header image how the "floor" is shiny/reflective). Of course, I don't have it in front of me, and I can't really judge it too harshly, so I'll just be cautious for now.

At the very least, it does come with some sweet accessories (two desks, a lectern, a computer, lockers, a bookshelf, books, and stickers for decorating the paper). Images in the gallery are from Good Smile's retail listing.

Release is in July, 2014, and retail price is ¥1,400. And if you're interested in some speculation, feel free to drop in your hopes for future CUBEs. In my case, I like a good beach backdrop.

Nothing says 'Happy Mother's Day' like an embryo plush

GIANTmicrobes has just revealed its brand-new Spring plush release: a tiny human! Mother's Day is just around the corner, and we're reminded of the fact that at one point in our lives, we were really, really tiny.

The plush Human Being, apart from being oddly adorable, makes a "heartbeat" sound as well if you squeeze it. If you want to get one for your momma, or a friend, or just yourself, it'll run you US$12.95 at GIANTmicrobes' online shop. Since it's them, the plush will probably also come with a little brain food, because education is a big part of what these plushies are all about. I've always liked that about GIANTmicrobes.

My Dancing Story

Being at a dance performance brought tears to my eyes and goose bumps, made me feel more than I would, being anywhere else. Something deep within me kept telling me to plunge into the world of dance. Already a mother of two, I thought it was too late to take up dance professionally.

By qualification an MBA, I had worked at a few places, but kept making excuses to not give it my all. Then one day I just took that plunge and went through an intense training in dance for two years.

While I was training, I found that there was a big lacuna for a good dance class for children. None of the dance institutes I had looked into offered the right environment, music or learning.

That’s when I started doing my own study and research and found enormous resources which could bring in the kind of dance education that I wanted for my own children.

02

A Shared Vision

At this point I found someone on the same page as me, someone who believed in this dream and was willing to take it forward with me – Deepika Gopinath had reinvented herself from a shy child to who she is today, through dance and this lead to her firm conviction in dance being a factor to aid in the growth and development of a child.

Our Belief

Rhythmus HappyFeet, therefore was born with the belief that " Every child deserves to `dance through life' - we call what we impart, a dance education which is as much about learning to dance as it is about learning life skills. Therefore along with dance technique and while making it fun, we focus on all round child development so that lessons learned are crucial for any path pursued in the future. "

03

Journey So Far

Today Rhythmus Happy Feet is known for its unique approach of age appropriate music and syllabus, operates at 4 centers (Khar- Kidsclub and Beacon High School, Juhu - Jamnabai Narsee School, Andheri - World Dance Centre, Worli- Beetroot Activity Center) and has grown from 90 to 900 happy students in a span of just 3 years with the students and company having performed at Kalaghoda Art Festival, Car Free Day, Beacon Blaze, and at our own annual Dancing Dreams show.

What We Offer

The classes offered for various age groups are in : Creative Movement, Street jazz, Pre-Ballet, Beginner Ballet, Zumba and Hip-hop. Rhythmus Happy Feet has also successfully reached the milestone of introducing a Certified Ballet Curriculum, the first of its kind in Mumbai. Rhythmus Happy Feet is therefore a growing name in children’s dance education.

04

Our Team

Team Rhythmus Happy Feet is a group of dedicated teachers trained to understand the needs of the age group they work with. Passion and a strong purpose of spreading the love of dance is what keeps us constantly working to be the best we can be and in turn giving the best to our students and we won't stop....because dancing through life is way more fun than walking through it!

Swara

Swara Patel, started Rhythmus HappyFeet Dance Academy in 2011 and has reached the milestone of introducing a Certified Ballet Curriculum, only the second of its kind in Mumbai.

An MBA from MET Bandra, she decided to follow her dream of dancing, undergoing an intense training in dance. She strongly believes that doing what you are passionate about can renew lives just as dance has transformed hers.

'What's your favorite scary movie?', NECA to release Retro Style Ghostface

$

There are rules for surviving a horror movie (for instance, never say "I'll be right back"), but none of the rules involve horror collectibles like NECA's newly revealed Mego-inspired Ghostface retro-style doll.

Horror hounds will instantly recognize the iconic antagonist of the Scream films (where, unlike some other franchises, the identity behind the mask changes each movie), whose ghost mask (and film name) is based on the "subject" of a famous painting. Although I've never been a fan of the franchise, NECA has certainly made Ghostface's design look appealing.

NECA seems to be enjoying some success with this line, as the company has already released similar figures based on Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger in addition to an upcoming Ash Williams (and a Deadite version of Ash) and, well, even MORE versions of Jason Voorhees. While I haven't grabbed anything from the series myself, I imagine that one of these figures will eventually grace my shelves.
