DAMTOYS makes an incredible figure that looks like Danny Trejo

DAMTOYS has a line of detailed fighters called Gangster’s Kingdom. They all have aliases like Spade 3 and Spade J, and Diamond 2. Their latest figure is Diamond 3. What makes this figure remarkable is how much he looks like the actor, Danny Trejo.

Looking like he came right out of Machete or Machete Kills, this figure is dressed in leather and comes with a full arsenal of knives. I can’t get over how pronounced they’ve made his forehead. I love it! Danny Trejo is definitely worthy of having his own action figure, especially one of this quality.

There’s even going to be a limited edition version where Trejo is bloodied and has his hair tied up. Availability and prices aren’t known yet, so we’ll just have to keep a watch on it until its known.

Boon Hosts Social Media-Based Contest in Four Cities

Got plans this weekend? This past April 1, it appeared that toddlers had taken over Boon’s social media pages, and while that turned out to be an April Fool’s joke, many of the random photos posted by Boon are part of a larger social media game. Indeed, photos found at Boon’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and [...]

Clayz's new Saber looks sick... like literally sick

My first thoughts upon seeing Clayz's photos of a prototype for an armored Saber were is she going to throw up? While the character has been awkwardly posed in the past, never has she looked this nauseous.

The 25-cm tall figure features everybody's favorite anime knight hunched over clutching her stomach while presumably balancing on her sword. Either she's injured or she's ill, but either way the figure thus far makes it look like Saber isn't feeling well. I hope she gets better when painted.

30 years have passed since Bruce Wayne survived Skynet's nuclear blasts in August of '97. Iron demons now roam the planet, and without the requirement to defend the innocent against crime and injustice, Wayne has sought refuge in the bomb shelter that saved his life; the Batcave.

"Having scavenged the wasteland for resources, he discovers the radio of a dead soldier. There is static over a frequency. Flesh and blood is rising up to the west. With The Stinger; a riot control vehicular unit built before the apocalypse along with a refitted bomb blast vest, Batman makes his way across what remains of the United States to join forces with the man determined to neutralize the electronic menace" - John Connor.

6 x "X-Men: Days of Future Past" Character One-Sheets posted on both XMENonFILM and PopcornX, along with the 1st TV Spot for this Bryan Singer-directed outing.

The live-action Godzilla promo rolls on with a and a "viral" poster with the tag #DemandToKnow.

The "Roll Call" video promo for "The Expendables 3" came after the reveal of a whopping 16 x Character Poster reveals, which showed a line-up of actors not necessarily "in character", and most importantly for folks reading TOYSREVIL and 1/6th-scaled hobbyists: Front images of each character with their weapons and gear = great reference in case you'd watt to kitbash action figures of them :)

Speaking of "gear reference", 6 x character posters have also been released for "Sabotage" … and I realize Arnold Schwarzenegger is in two slices of celluloid news last week! LOL

Click on above-left image to peep the new TV Spot for "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" (for sum "damn dirty apes on horseback"-action), and above-right for the new "Transformers: Age of Extinction" One-sheet

Want to have a peep at Captain America's New Costume for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" (currently filming in South Korea)? Or even to have a look at Quicksilver and The Scarlet Witch? There's even a metal robot head folks are calling "Ultron", but I'm not totally convinced to be tho …

"So her role as "The Black Widow" was just in training for this? Sorry if this makes me read ignorant, but hey, it was fulfilling while it lasted … meanwhile Luc Besson is back, and with him comes "high concept" films, and plenty of spectacle - which I thoroughly enjoy, brainy or brainless - so I am IN!" -What I had blogged about "LUCY", which starred actress Scarlett Johansson and her super-powered hijinks in Taiwan, 2069 AD.
MOVIE REVIEWS:

I rave on about Captain America: The Winter Soldier, while Eva Green's bare breasts stop me from remembering the rest of 300: Rise of An Empire (Warning: Plenty of Eva Green imagery ;p)

For the past couple of weeks, I've begun to post more "film news" on my (genre specific) film blogs, rather than populate the TOYSREVIL-blog, in an attempt to keep this blog focused more on "toys", although there have been a smattering of selected celluloid news still. In the last few years, I am unsure if even folks like reading about them here, actually.

Weekends will be my day(s) to do a weekly recap(S) of my main film-blog @ Popcorn-X, and current activity on XMENonFILM and Transformers, with some newsery exclusive to the film-blogs too - not to mention quick news-links and video posts on my Popcorn-X Facebook page! Do feel free to FOLLOW me on them there blogs+FB thank you!

FILMS remain a huge part of my life, so I will remain blogging about them, as far as I am able to, just not necessarily ALL on this blog :)

Cheers

Here's some great news! The "Batman Animated Series" Director/Writer, Bruce Timm, will be returning to the character for a special TV animation one-shot on the Cartoon Network's DC NATION.

The show will air on April 9th and will feature a lost tale from Batman’s past: The Dark Knight tracks a strange giant to the mysterious lair of Dr. Hugo Strange.

This brand-new short will be titled, "Strange Days" and it already looks like it has a retro 1940's style to it, AWESOME! This vision is perfect timing for the #Batman75 Anniversary! Love it.

My favorite part about working and writing the Bat-Blog is getting to meet people from all over the globe who love "Batman". Here's a great example, check out this series of photos from a good friend named Marcos who recently found a Vintage "ARGENTINA PLASTIRAMA" BATMAN Costume!

He said he bought it from a guy that lives in Argentina. It is a very nice piece, almost mint, the only thing missing is the clear plastic on the window of the top lid of the box. This item is extremely RARE in ANY county, especially the US! Marcos was kind enough to send these incredible reference photos showing all the amazing retro-style artwork (Thank you Marcos!).

Funko launches Pop! Game of Throne bundles, celebrates with giveaway

Funko will be releasing two Amazon-exclusive Pop! Game of Throne bundles to celebrate the upcoming fourth season of the show and, to celebrate this as well, has decided to hold a Facebook giveaway that started yesterday and runs until tomorrow.

The Jon Snow bundle features a black t-shirt that depicts an image of the character in Pop! form along with the caption, “Jon Snow wants you to join Night’s Watch. Defend the Wall. No experience necessary", as well as a "snowy" Jon Snow Pop! figure and an exclusive 1.5-inch Jon Snow Pop! keychain. The Daenerys-focused second bundle includes a black t-shirt with an image of the Pop! Daenerys and the caption, "Win or Die", as well as a newly revealed "Mother of Dragons" Daenerys Pop! figure and an exclusive 1.5-inch Daenerys Pop! keychain.

The Facebook contest will apparently have two winners (each winning one of the bundles?). Of course, if you don't win (which you probably won't because, well, probability and statistics) and still want one of the bundles, they can be pre-ordered for US$30 apiece. They're slated to release in late May/early June.

What's Does A Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle-Lips Say?

$

Ever since the release of the first trailer for the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (folks tend to gloss over who the film director is tho ;p), there has been an uneasy divide* between folks who look forward to seeing more, and folks who loathed the design of the turtles, specifically their "lips"!
"This is what happens when u give a non-fan of the show a movie to make.. Michael Bays turtles look like aged turtles going through a midlife crisis.." -commented Christian Rivera
"And why are the shells so high on their backs? And do we really need the coloured masks instead of classic red? It's not like it's difficult to tell them apart." -commented Vaughan James (read more commentary here on my FB)

A fan had even gone and photoshopped a mashup of the "new" turtle's body with their "noseless + lipless" facial of "earlier" classic TMNT folks remember, as reposted here (Spotted on Bad Ass Digest / Original images here on imgur.com), which reader Lisa Hansen mentioned as, "Looks so much better". - and I find it hard to disagree with her.

Alas, the show will go on, regardless, even without a "Cowabunga" … Hey, the toys seem to be done and nothing really could changed the course of the infamous turtles for now, can it? All I dare hope for now is to enjoy the ride, wherever it may take us … we still have the old(er) films and cartoons to sate our collective memories of ooze-irradiated turtles, no? Don't worry about the old skool designed toys tho, Kidrobot and The Loyal Subjects have our backs LOL

Funko easily ranks among the top makers of blind-boxed collectibles, and it's easy to see why with exciting entries such as the Marvel Mystery Minis series. This time around Funko has released a regular version of the series (which can be found at all the usual retailers) as well as a Hot Topic exclusive version.

Today we'll be taking a closer look at one of the figures you might find in a box (if you're REALLY lucky, that is!), the ultra-rare Loki with staff.
