Peter Kato previews a new original sculpt figure for February 2014, with a scheduled release "next week". Seen here is a test shot of the first piece printed, then sanded and primed.
"The largest, chunkiest figure I have made to date at 3 inches high and 1& 3/4 wide this fella has some weight to it. "-added Peter.
"Printed", he mentioned. Interesting. And not necessarily a design form I would associate Peter with tho … Interesting indeed! :)

It looks like the Disney Store diecasts have switched to the paper & plastic (not acrylic) mini carrying case format. Thanks for the nice photos, “Infiniti McQueen!” The new Police Lightning has color lights and metallic paint. The monochrome matte version was the previous release. And if CHASE’s are CHASERS, does that mean there is […]

It’s officially February, so that means Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. Can’t you just feel the love in the air? Ok, well I just smell chocolate and that’s good enough for me.

My favorite part about this day is giving out valentine cards to all the people I care about. It’s even better when you make the valentine yourself, and that brings us to the contest! Here at Tomopop we love toys, and if you’re here, so do you.

So we want you to show that love by making a valentine for your favorite figure or fictional character. You can make your valentine any way you want. You can write it, draw it, bake it, knit it, etc.

Whatever you choose to do, make sure you take a picture and submit it in the comments here. Your valentine can be cute, sweet, creepy, funny, any way you want. Just be creative!

For example, one of my favorite figures is my Rick Grimes Pop! so I crocheted him a little heart he can hold. Hopefully you’ll be much more creative than me. The best submission we get will win an exclusive Funko Supernatural Castiel Pop! figure. I know what you're thinking, and the answer is yes, you can make a valentine for Castiel!

You’ll have until February 15 to submit your entries.

There's so much positioning in the media these days, it can be hard to know what a special surprise is anymore. As everyone knows the first Transformers 4: Age of Extinction movie trailer / will be shown at Super Bowl XLVII on Sunday February 2nd. So we're not sure what Michael Bay's going to be posting on his Instagram account where he's posted an image letting us know: "Be sure to check back during the #Super Bowl. We have a nice surprise. #michaelbay" Stay tuned for the details when it happen.

One of my critiques with male figures are their boring poses. Like it or not, female figures tend to be posed in a variety of ways to direct attention toward their copious assets. Dudes just kind of stand there, usually with their legs slightly apart and with their hips jutting out. While that works for keeping a figure properly balanced, it doesn't do much to impress. As most One Piece figures are men, I have dozen's of figures that are well sculpted, if not impressive to look at.

One of the characters that deserves better is Sanji. The Straw Hats's chef only fights with his legs, leading to some impressive fights where he's flipping around and doing hand stands to deliver feet into his opponents' face. However, we usually get Sanji just standing around and looking either cocky or pervy. BORING.

Seemingly in response to such complaints, Bandai has released several battler versions of popular One Piece characters. This version of Sanji that I'm reviewing is from that line and boy, am I happy that somebody listened to my complaints. Hit the jump to see why you need this figure in your collection!

Once in a while we have the pleasure of meeting a Transformers collector who goes beyond the norm, beyond just amassing plastic for personal amusement and satisfaction. Someone whose roots run deep into the Transformers community and even a little of the industry itself. A person who gives back as much as he takes, providing great service for collector friends, helping make the hobby a better place through creativity, talent and hard work.

Akiba Hobby has released a photo gallery for AlphaMax's recently released Shining Ark Velvet which shows off Velvet's ample treasure chest. Sure, her pirate booty is nice as well but I've been more into pirate boobies.

If that wasn't enough, Velvet also features some cast-off parts in the form of an optional hat and skirt. While I can't imagine anybody would want to take off the hat (which would turn her from a hot pirate to just a hot girl with an interesting bikini top), it's always nice to have the option. I love Velvet's pose and the attention paid to her curves. She definitely looks good enough to launch a few ships.

Those planning on looting this treasure should consider doing so quickly before that ship sails, as the figure is already sold out at a few places despite Velvet's hearty price tag. Be sure to check out the additional photos in the gallery or the full set over at Akiba Hobby.
