At last, the KanColle girls actually get in the water
Doesn't it bother you that the current range of Kantai Collection figures is a bit... land-based? Luckily, Good Smile Company has taken the initiative and devised a series of KanColle toys for use in the bathtub!
In case you missed it, Kahotan wrote a blog post giving some info about Akagi and Shimakaze. They both have wind-up motors that propel them in water. Shimakaze can float around in her repair bucket, or be taken out to use the paddling feature. Combined with their CHANxCO designs, they're pretty adorable. Expect them to be around Nendroroid-size too. These toys feature ABS construction, making them light and buoyant but also a little more fragile than PVC (and much shinier).
Both Akagi and Shimakaze will be out in June. Akagi will retail for ¥1,852 while Shimakaze will go for ¥2,315.

Happy Chinese Lunar New Year 2014
It's all about the RED, and GOLD, of course! Celebrating the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year here in Singapore, featured today are a grip of celebratory images from folks and friends, focusing on the Year of the Horse! (Click on images to view URLs of the artists)
The above "last" image might not necessarily be a "New Year Greeting" per se, but the line-up of glossy"bronzed" Star Wars Chubbys from Unbox Industries is too irresistible not to post! *WANT*
Who Needs New Dolls?
First was Heart on My Sleeve, a Tonner reinterpreted Tin Man from Oz. She's been dressed in her adorable, original fashion since I got her. I thought she was so perfect.
She's even more perfect now dressed in the Theatre de la Mode Noir #99 gown sans shrug. This doll uses the Duchess head sculpt on the Antoinette body.
Quite the transformation, right?
I never paid much attention to Hearts Aflame after I got her because the collector that sold her to me under-described the defects on this doll's face. She's got part of an eyebrow sanded off and there are three tiny green spots happening. She has the Queen of Hearts head sculpt, Tyler body. (2006)
But I needed a full busted Tonner doll to wear Forbidden Forest Winter Stroll and she was it. This is one of those fashions that I had when it first came out, sold it and then bought another one. It's truly one of Tonner's most magnificent creations.
Here it is on Elphaba for whom it was designed way back in 2005.
Going back through my own collection and comparing photographs is so interesting. It's a history of what I've been doing for the past 12 or so years.
Follow your own Yellow Brick Road right into your doll room. Step back from the computer and put that credit card away. Take out a doll and redress it in something wonderful and admire your 'newest' toy. One day at a time.

Stand up and pre-order Pulchra's Levi
Man, given that he's not the protagonist of Attack on Titan, Levi sure does seem to be getting a lot of figure love. Is it because of his deep and complex character? His interesting design which doesn't look at all like all the other Attack On Titan characters? Or is it because fangirls and fanboys love dour, misanthropic jerks? Your guess is as good as mine.
OK, sarcasm aside, Levi really has had some cool figures, and this new Pulchra version (first seen last November) is no exception. As ever, all the 3D Maneuver gear makes for a really nice, complex set of accessories to drape across the figure, and Pulchra look to have done their homework on the fine detailing. There's something I really dig about the relaxed pose too, like the slightly cocked leg or the swords in the ground. It's a less dynamic look that one might expect from a figure from the series, but all the better for it. That base is fantastic too.
I'm not too familiar with Pulchra, but based on these shots their quality certainly seems up to snuff. That's just as well, because Levi will cost a hefty 11,112 if you want to add him to your collection. Pre-orders are open now and you can expect to see him arrive in August.

Lil' Jammies Artist Series 1 released
Fuller's Lil' Jammies Artist Series 1 goes on sale today, and to mark the occasion, we've gotten photos of the remaining custom Lil' Jammies, as well as the identities of the remaining artists in the custom figure collaboration. The final batch revealed include works from Tasha Zimich, Gomi, Evilos, PJ Constable, RunDMB, Scott Kinnebrew and Fuller Designs, ranging from Gomi's surfer-eating Lil' Sharky to Fuller's hell-blazing Lil' Rider.
If you want to pick one up, they're in the Lil' Jammies shop right now. Don't expect all of them to be there forever, though; these are all one-off customs, so once they're gone, they're gone!

round about: the aftermath
Whoa Nelly! You’d think after several days back from the big event (that would be Alt Summit) that I would be back to normal, coasting along on some good memories. Nope. Instead, I think I’m going through withdrawal. I’m checking Facebook every 30 minutes to try and stay in contact with the blogging pals I […]
