Hot Toys brings out another Loki, fans everywhere cheer!

Alright guys and gals, if you didn't get enough of my fangirling over Loki the last time, here he comes again! Hot Toys is releasing a new figure of Loki based on the look from Thor: The Dark World. Cheeky Loki looks a bit more devious and upset this time around. He has over 30 points of articulation in this body as well!

He has 6 interchangeable hands, including: 1 pair of partially clenched palms, 1 pair of relaxed palms, 1 right palm for holding the dagger, and 1 left open palm. He, of course, comes with his full costume, as well as the previously mentioned dagger. He also comes with a pair of handcuffs with chains, legcuffs with chains, and a neck collar with chains. Looks like I'm not the only one who likes herself some Loki in devious ways. There is also the stand and nameplate that have the movie logo. Now, there is a special edition, only available in certain markets, that comes with a bonus accessory of a 1/6th scale Aether. It hasn't been listed as of yet as to where those markets are, but I'm sure we'll see.

He's set to come out somewhere in the later half of 2014, so get those pocketbooks ready and start saving. I personally like the first Loki figure better, and he's standing sexily among my figure collection. However, if you didn't get him the first time around, he'll be coming back to see you!

The last character in NECA’s second wave of 1:18 scale Gears of War action figures is Augustus Cole. Again, not having played the GoW videogames, I have no real personal connection to the character, but I will concede that he is possibly the best looking in his wave.

Funko rings in the new year with cool Marvel collectibles

Thought Funko's DC Mystery Minis were awesome? Check out the upcoming Marvel Mystery Minis which are... well, also extremely cool. Marvel.com recently put together a feature highlighting this new blind-boxed series as well as Funko's upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier Pop! figures.

Obviously my care cup runneth over for this new Mystery Minis set which looks to be almost as good as Funko's DC Mystery Minis series. The big advantage over that other comic-themed blind-boxed series is actual variety, as it incorporates a slew of Marvel's superheroes and supervillains --- 14 characters across 16 designs --- in varied poses. My favorite from this series is definitely the Galactus although Doc Doom comes in a close second with the Green Goblin following not far behind.

The bulk of the selections in the Marvel Mystery Minis look great, though, and include the Phoenix (Jean Grey), Thanos, two versions of Loki, two versions of Deadpool, Hulk, Silver Surfer, Scarlet Witch, Thor, Spider-Man, the Punisher, and Ultron. Thankfully Galactus, Doc Doom, and the Green Goblin are on the light end of the rarity chart (2/24) so I stand a reasonable chance of nabbing them. Thanos and Ultron fans will have a harder time finding those figures since they're packed 1/72 (or one figure per three cases).

Funko's Marvel Mystery Minis are currently available for pre-order and will be on sale at places like Hot Topic, Barnes & Noble, and the such.

The other items shown were Funko's upcoming Pop! offerings for Captain America: The Winter Soldier which include two versions of the titular Winter Soldier (fully masked and partially masked), Captain America, and a Black Widow. These are also available for pre-order and are slated to release in March.

Magen Carrar is an interesting release. Thanks for the great photos, “John H.” Of course, it’s always nice to get another Porsche 911 diecast, even if it’s the bulbous 996. It is odd that it’s a CHASE – though I suppose the only reason it’s a CHASE is the accessory. It is a nice accessory. […]

Nendoroid Kanbaru stays clothed for once in this gallery

In a show full of memorable characters, Suruga Kanbaru always stood out as one of the most memorable. Maybe it's because she's a nod and a wink toward what some viewers would rather not admit they like.

None of that really plays in to this Nendoroid, which is definitely more about being adorable. Except for the boys' love, that is. She'll always have that.

Kanbaru's still a few months away from release. If you want to see what she comes with, check out this huge gallery from Akiba Hobby. She has parts to make running and standing poses, but I like her reading pose the best. Head over to the pre-order post if you want to get a reservation!

Be blinded by the prettiness of Max Factory's Benten

It seems like it's the season for Max Factory to be unveiling some incredible figures. We saw Cerberus just a few days ago and this time Kahotan is back with their possibly even more stunning 1/7 rendition of Zone-OO's Benten.

We first saw Benten back at Summer Wonder Festival, where he (yes, he!) already looked amazing. But this is another case where colour adds an immeasurable amount to a sculpt. I think my favourite part is the green and yellow wings, a combination which sounds like it should be hideous but somehow works incredibly well. I love the way the air, feathers and cloth wraps around him as well, making it look like he's always in motion. There's also the usual insane level of detail - take a look at the leg chains or the lovely mandolin (?) that serves as his base.

Basically it looks like an outstanding figure all round, and Kahotan also sweetens the deal by teasing an as yet unannounced bonus to be bundled in. Pre-orders begin on the 29th for a not announced (but presumably extremely high) price. Nevertheless, I think there'll be plenty of collectors who will pay whatever it takes to bring him home.

Katheleen Kennedy On Upcoming "Star Wars" Movies

With yesterday's blog-feature of the visit by George Lucas and Lucasfilm president Katheleen Kennedy to Singapore, to grace the launch of the Sandcrawler Building, Singapore witnessed the glamor of Hollywood and the presence of legendary creator of "Star Wars"!

An irresistible line of questioning would no doubt revolve around the upcoming Star Wars movies, and thanks to the reporting of The Straits Time's John Lui, we have a transcript to share of what Ms Kennedy mentions of the highly anticipated sci-fi flicks!

First, a context from John Lui; "It has been reported that here will be a new Star Wars film every year, starting from next year, with the seventh film being the first of a trilogy. Origin stories will dominate the slate.

These will sit alongside a series of standalone, spinoff movies, focused on individual characters. Names mentioned in previous reports for possible spin-offs include Yoda, Han Solo and Boba Fett.

Asked if she was concerned about the possibility of the spin-offs distorting the story threads laid down in the original saga, she says the universe ceased by series creator George Lucas was large enough to contain "endless opportunities" for new content:"
"George was so clear as to how that works. The canon that he created was the Star Wars saga. Right now, episode seven falls within that canon. The spin-off movies, or we may come up with some other way to call those films, they exist within that vast universe that he created," she says.

"There is no attempt being made to carry characters (from the standalone films) in and out of the saga episodes. Consequently, from the creative standpoint, it's a roadmap that George made pretty clear," she adds.
The above is a transcript from the LIFE! Section of The Straits Times, as reported by Film Correspondent John Lui. Attached photograph by Kevin Lim.

Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention 2014 from 6-7 September @ Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center

Happening 6th to 7th September, is this year's annual Singapore Toy Games & Comic Convention (STGCC 2014). To be held at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center (similar locale for the last 2 years), there was initial chatter of raised booth rental prices, and a three-day event, instead of the usual 2, so this debunks the speculation of the number of days.Unsure about the pricing tho.

Meanwhile, as I ponder my resources to rent an artist alley booth this year, you folks can readup on what I have blogged about STGCC 2013, including on-spot reportage and a post-event wrap up HERE. Looking forward to meeting friends and hopefully not burn too big a hole in my wallet! LOL
