BMOG adds stretch goal images to Kickstarter project

The BMOG Kickstarter project website updated recently with new CAD rendered images of their stretch goal sets. If the Kickstarter can reach an additional US$12,000 (for a total of US$31,000) then Featherblight and the Non-Dino team will be added to the campaign for an additional purchase.

Featherblight is a Paraxxoid eagle counterpart to the Augmentoid Ursenal figure that launched the Kickstarter. It can be disassembled into multiple weapons including swords, guns, and rocket launchers. The Non-Dino team consists of members ax Slashback the dimetrodon, ray gun Splashpoint the icthyosour, and "multi purpose" Pterattactyle the pterodactyl.

The project is down to 12 days with only US$6419 remaining before reaching its funding goal keeping it still well within sight of success.

Preview Kotobukiya's Kuroneko, Sweet Lolita version

Kuroneko has been getting a lot of love in the figurine world lately. It's about darn time that someone cared for her too! Next month Kotobukiya is releasing this sweet lolita dressed kitten girl to the masses. However if you ordered her and want to check her out ahead of time, or if you are on the fence then you should check out Akibahobby's gallery of her.

Kotobukiya did a great job on the overall sculpt and color scheme of this figure. The ruffles and fine details approach Alter levels of quality. The white and red checkered base with brown rim adds an additional level of class to the appearance which I did not expect. Really, there are lots of cool details all over from the shiny slippers on her feet to the tips of her ear which are practically begging to be examined.

While I am not a big enough fan to buy this version of Kuroneko at her full price, I definitely will be keeping an eye out for sales to perhaps snag her later. What do you think tomopeeps? Have any of you ordered this sweet lolita?

Classic Atari characters get the custom figure treatment

Artist, Dan Polydoris, has created this series of custom figures from Activision video games. These Activision video game characters all come from classic games for Atari. Made using old G.I. Joe parts, Polydoris made five figures; Short-Order Sam, Officer Kelly, Pitfall Harry, Roderick Hero and Frostbite Bailey.

On his website he details how he made each figure and what parts he used from each G.I. Joe figure. These figures are sadly not for sale, they were a personal project, but it’s still great to look at.

This Ikkitousen harem does Pandora System right

Recently we've been treated to another creepy usage of the poseable Pandora System, in the form of Ro-Kyu-Bu's Hinata. Chara-Ani appears to have come to their senses though, preparing to let loose a blind boxed set of characters that are a much better use of the system--the Ikkitousen girls! Featuring six of everyone's favorite fighting femme fatales, there's sure to be something for every fan.

Like the previous figures, the Pandora System lets you swap the figures' positions and the like. In this case, that means you can have some modestly posed ladies, or you can make sure the requisite Ikkitousen pantyshots are in full display--often from multiple options, no less. I have to admit I find it odd that for the most part, a lot of the poses are at least quite natural seeming, with only a few looking as if their legs don't quite work right. Despite this attention, their faces do leave a bit to be desired. They're a very tiny bunch, and it seems there's not much room to allow for carefully detailed painting.

Nonetheless, it's an interesting little set, and with a box of six running around ¥5,604, you could probably do worse things with your money. Just remember it'll be a gamble, and you're not necessarily guaranteed Best Girl Kanu. Or, you know, whoever you prefer.

Knockoff MP-10 Prime to be better than the real thing

Usually when you think of knockoffs you think of cheap plastic, messy paint, and broken parts. Certainly you wouldn't expect to hear 'better than the original', but that's exactly what Collection Kingdom says they have planned for Transformers Masterpiece MP-10 Optimus Prime.

Numerous changes and adjustments are being planned to make a better bot and it's a pretty lengthy list of adjustments.

  • adjust eye opacity
  • fix rubbing from the chest screws
  • fix loose fuel tanks
  • fix index fingers falling off
  • realign the chest doors
  • make the Matrix door easier to open
  • fix the way the legs close
  • fix rubbing from the windshield wipers
  • prevent stress marks on the legs
  • remove the black hole behind the translucent yellow on his pelvis
  • prevent sprue marks

They're planning a very no-thrills release of the figure with no box (likely just a cardboard mailer box), no trailer, and just his gun, ax, and Matrix for accessories. He'll be in Japanese colors (photos are of an early prototype) and is expected to be released in December, but nobody seems to know where to order or what the price will be.

I'm not really crazy over knockoffs being done in this manner, but it is interesting that someone found so many flaws in the original that they felt the need to release their own.

New changes to American classroom curriculum with Common Core is to increase nonfiction text in Language Arts classes. Many teachers assign daily reading in addition to homework. One great habit to get started for your child is evening reading of 20 minutes per night before bed.  Sleep experts will agree that this will not only help your student get a great night of sleep but it will also prepare him/her for higher learning. Educators and scientific research prove that continued daily reading boosts analytical thinking, expands vocabulary, enhances memory and academic skill and also teaches something new.

Here are 5 new TOY TIPS reviewed book titles for elementary school age students that are great reads for bedtime.
