Fans of the 80's cartoon, M.A.S.K, will have a pleasant surprise coming up this week. Bill Faries of Matt-Tracker.com, a M.A.S.K action figure fan site, has arraigned a special benefit to raise money to help people affected by heavy weather like Hurricane Sandy. For this event Faries has collected a number of M.A.S.K memorabilia that has been signed by voice actors from the original cartoon series.

As an additional bonus, all winning bidders will get a never-released special edition M.A.S.K figure. This special edition figure will be little known character, PNA agent, Duane Kennedy. This figure was created by The Angelforge and Star Wars Geek Customs, and is limited to 50 figures.

These limited figures will be available only through this auction, and will be polybagged in prototype colors. This special event will be June 19 at 6pm Eastern Standard Time, and will be live streamed at TheBigToyAuction.  All proceeds will go to The Red Cross

Make a wish for a closer look at Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi

Back in April, you could get your pre-orders in for the emotionlessly adorable Tsukiko of HenNeko fame. Now, I'm not really interested in kuudere girls, but the way Tsukiko still manages to clearly have emotions while being simply unable to express them sets her apart from the true kuuderes that are genuinely emotionless. I prefer the original Tsukiko of course, but between her cuteness and Kantoku's fantastic art, how could you not fall in love with any version of this kitten?

Kotobukiya's done a great job at replicating Kantoku's art style with their upcoming figure, and she looks like she got pulled straight off a page of official artwork. The soft coloring is perfect for her look, and the shadowy cat behind her is an especially nice touch. Of course, people who know where the Pervert Prince is coming from will certainly appreciate the naughtier look from behind, thanks in no small part to the subtlety of her tail pushing her skirt up slightly.

Yes, this is definitely a must have for series fans, or fans of kitties at all. Waiting until October is certainly difficult, but in the meantime you can sate your appetite a little with some new shots from Koto's Facebook.

Next TF MP is G2 Sideswipe, after that it's fans' choice

At the Tokyo Toy Show 2013 Takara Tomy made two big announcements regarding the Transformers Masterpiece line. The first is that Sideswipe will be getting his third repaint. This time around he'll be in G2 black and feature new tires and weapons that appear to be coming straight out of Marvel's Transformers Generation 2 comic book from the '90s. This isn't the first time Takara Tomy used a Marvel comic for Masterpiece repaint inspiration. Back in 2009 Takara Tomy released a comic version of King Grimlock, complete with crown, that was exclusive to their own online store. I'm thinking a similar fate is awaiting G2 Sideswipe.

The other big news is that the next Masterpiece figure is going to be decided by a fan vote in honor of the franchise's 30th anniversary next year. Takara Tomy has already picked their 11choices and the list is rather... interesting. I'm going to list everything by Japanese name since that's certainly how Takara Tomy will have them in the poll.

  1. Fortress Maximus [Headmasters]
  2. Ginrai (Powermaster Optimus Prime) [Super-God Masterforce]
  3. Star Saber [Victory]
  4. Dai Atlus [Zone]
  5. Convoy (Optimus Primal) [Beast Wars]
  6. Lio Convoy (Leo Prime) [Beast Wars II]
  7. Big Convoy [Beast Wars Neo]
  8. Fire Convoy (Optimus Prime) [Car Robots]
  9. Convoy (Optimus Prime) [Micron Legend/Armada]
  10. Grand Convoy (Optimus Prime) [Super Link/Energon]
  11. Galaxy Convoy (Optimus Prime) [Galaxy Force/Cybertron]

Yeah, so basically you only get to pick an Autobot/Maximal leader, most of which really don't need the Masterpiece treatment since they're new enough that they're original figures are still just fine. Sure it sounds like having a MP Fortress Maximus would be a good idea, but can it really top the original? And what good is Star Saber without Victory Leo, you know you need both? I do like the idea of a new Ginrai, but they have to go all the way with God Ginrai and nothing less. The poll itself doesn't seem to be open yet and it's not know who it will be open to, but we should be hearing something pretty soon.

They Don't Look Like Much Yet.........

If you've been wondering what I've been up to the last few days I'll give you a clue. I've had my hands covered with paper clay and I couldn't be happier. You see I'm having a blast.

Now I know that I'm dating myself with that baby boomer word but it's the truth. I am just loving my Artful Gathering "Briley The Birdie" class with Colleen Moody. The class is a blast. The group of ladies taking the class are a blast and Colleen is an amazing teacher. Her video's are so easy to follow and are so much fun.

And, well, how could you not have fun when making these guys - or should I say, these birdies:

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Wizard of Oz, Funko is adding more characters to their Pop! Movies toy line. Previously released Wizard of Oz Pop! figures were Dorothy and Toto, Wicked Witch, and Winged Monkey. Now added to the Pop! line is Scarecrow, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, and Glinda the Good Witch.

So now you can own the whole Wizard of Oz gang! The only characters missing, I think, are the munchkins. These Wizard of Oz Pop! vinyl figures will be available August 8th.

You'll believe a Superman statue can look spectacular

Kotobukiya has released a photo gallery for its upcoming DC Comics ARTFX "For Tomorrow" Superman statue, which is also available for pre-order.

This 1/6 scale statue recreates the Man of Steel's look as he appeared in the "For Tomorrow" comic book story arc (first published in Superman #204-215) where he investigates the disappearance of over a million people.

Before anybody snarks on the unbelievably incredible musculature, I will point out the statue was inspired by Jim Lee's artwork in the comic and, as we all know, Jim Lee tends to like his heroes buff. The sculpting detail here gives Superman an almost literal chiseled look, particularly evident in the face and upper torso where a lot of hard edges are visible. This sort of detail really sells the notion that the character is invulnerable.

The only immediate issue with this statue may be that Superman looks a little cross-eyed. Perhaps proper vision is its Kryptonite? However, that's probably a relatively minor gripe considering the wicked body sculpting and cool flowing cape.

Kotobukiya's ARTFX "For Tomorrow" Superman stands nearly 12-inches tall. He has a US$120 list price and is slated to release in December.
