The story of the folks in Ikebukuro, Japan from Durarara!! was something amazing. Not to mention the folks themselves were all amazing. Of course there are ones that stood out quite a bit, especially Shizuo and Izaya whom will be getting figures from ALTER. The company also has their eyes set on another stand out character, the cool, headless rider with a cute personality Celty Sturluson.
The ALTER Development Department Blog updated with a preview of this 1/8 scale figure and she is looking great. Though Celty does have the unzipped jacket thing going on, it doesn't show as much skin as the one released by Kaitendoh. Speaking of that version, ALTER's version makes everything that is unimpressive about Kaitendoh's version stand out much more. And now that I know about Durarara!! and now more critical about figures, I take back anything positive I said ever about the Kaitendoh release.
Seriously, ALTER made sure to include the zippers of her outfit as well as the many stretches and folds. It's really great looking. Speaking of which, one thing I like about the look of this figure is the body shape. It's... normal looking. Well, as compared to many other anime figures. And, of course, the head can be removed to show her headless form. The pose is a bit generic and for a character that wears such a basic outfit, it's still great looking. Though, I wouldn't expect anything less from ALTER.
Look for pre-orders to open for Celty on January 18, 2012 in Japan. So, um, ALTER. How about the other cast members? Our star characters have not received some love and, I admit, I would love to see Anri. Preferably in street clothes and not a school uniform. With Shizuo, Izaya, and Celty being covered, who would you like to see?
