Update: Tamashii has officially listed Sailor Mercury on their website.

After the excitement for Bandai's S.H. Figuarts Sailor Moon died down a bit, a new sailor scout was spotted joining her friend at the Sofmap shop in Akiba, Japan. That scout was Sailor Mercury, and she was seen unpainted with no other details revealed about her. Here in this month's hobby magazine scans, she appears again!

She's still unpainted, but now we can see more details about her. With the bold headline, "Sailor Mercury set for release!!", you can see Mercury in different poses. Just like Sailor Moon, you can see that Sailor Mercury will come with different facial expressions.

Only three are shown but I'm sure there will be more. Also shown is Mercury wearing her visor as she holds her trusty hand-held computer. What other accessories will she come with? What other facial expressions will she have? When exactly will she be released? We'll just have to wait some more. I just can't wait to see her when she's painted!

Last weekend, Davidkraig was customizing at Kidrobot New York as part of Munny Munth. This Saturday, Martin Hsu will put his paint skills to work doing the same at Kidrobot San Francisco. It's a chance to come meet Martin and see him do his trade on an 8-inch Munny.

The event is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific at KRSF (1512 Haight St.). I have no idea exactly what Martin's planning to do, but it's probably not a bad way to spend a few hours on a Saturday afternoon if you're interested.

It's not often we see high-profile figures appear for pre-order, but every now and then one shows up for pre-order completely unannounced. Case in point: Hunter X Hunter's Kurapika figma. Despite a lot of recent conventions and the monthly magazine runs Kurapika here has never been seen or even hinted at before. Looks like our first notice was on Wednesday when it appeared out of nowhere on Amazon.co.jp before spreading out to other sites. He totally bypassed our usual info sources and jumped right to the stores. I, for one, couldn't be happier.

Well, maybe I could be a little bit happier. It's a great looking figure for the most part, but he, like Gon and Killua, looks just a little off model. That's really just the nature of figma; some are just a little off mark, but you still want them. The outfit is perfect, but Kurapika does suffer a little bit in the face, yet more than makes up for it with accessories. Included are three facial expressions (standard blue eyes, scarlet eyes, and angry) as well as parts to recreate three of his Nen chain abilities: Chain Jail, Judgment Chain, and Dowsing Chain!

A lot of people were hoping the third Hunter X Hunter figma would be Hisoka, but now that Kurapika is coming I'm hearing more people hope that the fourth figure is actually Leorio to round out the group. I'm fine with that as long as they can make him (and Hisoka, you know he's coming eventually) in scale with the rest.

Price for Kurapika is ¥3,619 and he's currently scheduled for September. You can go pre-order him at the following shops:

Remember how awesome Wonder Festival 2013 Winter was with its torrent of figma goodness? Much of what appeared there has hit pre-orders and some have even been released already. But one figure in particular is suddenly seeing its release brought into question. A post on Figure / GK seems to be implying that figma Strength from the Black Rock Shooter TV anime has been canceled. Their source seems to be indicating difficulties with the arm joint being the cause.

Please remember that this is not something reported by an official source and should be viewed as speculation at this point. Unfortunately Max Factory is more likely to just let it slip off the radar (wishful thinking!) than to officially cancel it. Its fate should be pretty obvious if we don't see any sign of it by Wonder Festival 2013 Summer. I think if this ends up going unreleased my Other Self is going to go on a little rampage.

It's the final season of Transformers Prime, and things are getting feral with the threat of the Predacon, a beastial machine creature that Starscream is looking to control for his own sinister purposes. Also, as you can see from the image above, Miko's got her own suit of armor. That's just asking for trouble.

One of the more memorable happenings in the inevitable Art Toy Culture versus Star Wars history, is The Vader Project, helmed by DKE Toys, which resulted in a spectacular series of customized 1:1 scaled Darth Vader helmets seen in a series of shows and exhibitions, culminating in an Auction and published in a Catalog (which I do not own, but one day will find a way to … one day …), and by which every other project thusly, has since been compared and referenced to.

Seen on display at last weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta, was this mirror-ball-styled severed Vader-head on show at the Art Project" exhibition arena. Titled "Darth Goes to the Disco", it was by contemporary artist Wiyoga Muhardanto, and while this was not a wholly "original" concept, it was a nice dash of reminiscence to be had, IMHO :)

And I have a feeling Darth is a "Earth, Wind and Fire" sorta guy, no? Heh :)

New Wood Idols from Amanda Visell, with the focus on Disney characters this time, my fav being Dumbo (daawww) who measures 12x10x5 and is priced at US$800.00 - well, how much do you think faux flying elephants cost? LOL

There's the Witch (from Snow White, complete with apple), Cruella (from "101 Dalmations") and Captain Hook (from "Peter Pan" - and I know all these by heart, no research needed LOL), and finally Eeyore with removable tail (buddy of "Winnie The Pooh"). These are one-of-a-kind original sculptures, hand painted, hand sculpted in custom box - available via myswitchero.com for US$800 each.

    BATTLE-ON-HOTH

"WAR" was waged on two fronts at last weekend's Star Wars Day Jakarta, with Battle of Hoth (From "The Empire Strikes Back") and Battle on Geonosis (from "The Clone Wars") recreated as toy-dioramas on show! Check out individual still images for HOTH and GEONOSIS linked to their respective Facebook albums

Utilizing toys from fans and collectors, and built diorama bases, the battlefield and hangar on Hoth was first seen in Star Wars Day Bandung in 2012, while the Geonosis battle field is a new build, and incorporates a snazzy audience seating ala a Gladiator's arena = fun times :)
