New Rules! Censorship = Fear
I have also heard of threads being deleted on the BC.Com boards for various reasons. One must pay to belong to the Barbie Collectors Club and therefore must abide by the rules of the board. Actually you have to abide by the rules of any board whether it's free or not. It's like visiting some one's house. If they don't want you to smoke or whatever, you can't. That makes perfect sense.
It would be really interesting to find a safe board of any kind where there were no arguments, no attacks, no sideways remarks, no dismissive statements. It doesn't exist. Doll collectors are very passionate - at least the vocal ones are. Apparently, the overlords at the W Club want only the cheerleaders to voice opinions. No wonder it's the same people who post all the time. Out of the possibly 1000 members (many with multiple memberships), barely 50 people ever post. A very small percentage post all the time. In addition people have been viciously attacked off the board by one member in particular. It's not safe and it never was.
Anyone who actually believes that something they post on a board is private, is in dreamland.
Kindly remember to sign your name if you post a comment.

ACen 2013: Athena's Wink
This isn't what we usually cover, but it is hand-crafted collectible merchandise so I thought creations of Athena's Wink are worth taking a look at. Their booth was run by Carolann Voltarel and Carrie Wink, who spend a lot of time making these sweet hats. Several were themed after Adventure Time, some after various comic properties, and there were a bunch of Pokemon hats too.
The booth also had an assortment of hand-made candles of the incredibly fancy type. They were styled to look like underwater scenes, using clear wax and a variety of props suspended within. There were even candles made to look like beverages! I didn't know you could do that with wax...
If you're interested in any of these, you can check out the Athena's Wink homepage linked above or visit their Etsy store.

tokidoki Summer 2013 Line
tokidoki’s summer lineup is out and there are a bunch of awesome new designs. The bad part (at least for us dudes) is that most of those styles are for the ladies. Just look at those shirts up there. Ice cream Cactus Pup? Pirate Cactus Cat? How about some Cactus Friends designs for men, tokidoki?

ACen 2013: Bandai/Bluefin part 2
It's funny how being around a lot of something can make me want that thing. I never figured myself to be big on Gunpla, as I was never into Gundam. But seeing all the various model kits on display at Bluefin's booth was enough to get me seriously thinking about buying one. I probably wouldn't go for a big Perfect Grade kit; maybe a High Grade one would suit me better.
Aside from lots and lots of Gunpla, I also got a look at some Robot Damashii Gundams and a few Super Robot Chogokin figures. The Chogokin items looked most attractive to me. I liked seeing the Megazord in person, and thought the Robot Mickey and Friends set was pretty crazy. Take a look at the gallery to see the rest!
