Also from the current Good Smile Company event, we've got some fuzzy pictures of upcoming Nendoroid Sheryl Nome! We previously saw her unpainted at Miyazawa Model Expo, and now she's all bright and shiny.

Despite the fuzzy image quality, I think she looks perfect! I can't wait to see an official preview and check out her extra faces and accessories, and perhaps even a look at the prototype for her pal Ranka Lee.

Natalie was gushing about this upcoming Animal Crossing: New Leaf Nendoroid back when she was shown off as an unpainted prototype, and it looks like she's already painted! I haven't played the game, but I hope that fans will enjoy the look. I think she looks pretty darn cute, either way.

[FNM] Magic: The Not So Gathering

You know how roommates often have little squabbles about things like who was supposed to take out the trash, or who ate whose food from the fridge? Well, this is what happens when two roommates take out their aggressions toward each other over a game of Magic. Let’s just say things get heated rather quickly.

Also, as soon as I’m done typing this I’ll be on my way to my local game shop for the Dragon’s Maze pre-release. Anyone else going? Let us know in the comments and tell us what cool cards you got!

FNM a.k.a Friday Night Magic is a new weekly column where we share fan-created shenanigans and other awesomeness inspired by Magic: The Gathering. Send your freshness to to see them featured in a future installment!

Frank Kozik has been on a toy painting tear lately. His next hand-painted release, A Northern Bog, is a haunting edition of Skinner's Ultrus Bog. Kozik used the sofubi paint of choice, v-color, on these -- looks like purple, red, gray and black, to realize his vision. Limited to 9...

Now that we've seen the Nadsat Boy Super Festival Edition from Kenth Toy Works, here's a look at the Nofuture Super Festival Edition! Priced at 6500 yen (US$65) per, this 7.5cm tall resin piece is both a collectible figure, and as well a piece of jewelry, with the removable head acting as a finger Ring! No quantity is mentioned for this edition tho. Also look out for the Nofuture white unpainted blank in resin, priced at 4000 yen (US$40).

"A Northern Bog" is a Ultrus Bog figure designed by Skinner and painted by Frank Kozik. Looking intensively menacing - given the swell selected colors, and spectacular sculpt of the figure in the first place (one fine day I will own one, mark my words!) - An edition of 9 pieces will be for sales on May 1st Noon PST at Price for awesomeness is US$200 per.

"VINYL IS DEAD" - exclaimed the title of the new toy(s) from McBess x Kidrobot, with the 20-inch tall Dunny priced at US$399.99 and limited to 200 worldwide. Dropping May 9th, there is also a 3-inch version, but unknown currently if it is sold separately, or comes part of the larger piece. Looks swell for a 3-incher, but pretty underwhelming for a 20-incher, IMHO. Nevertheless, the choice is yours to make.

Go read a quick Q&A with McBess here, and go bug your fav retailers for availability.

PRESS: "Melding the passions of French artist McBess, Le Dead Plastique is a black and white punch in the face. The 20-inch rock’n’roll incarnate is tatted up with a mesh of music, marauders, and meat paying special homage to dead pirates and pretzels."

  • 04/26/13--22:56: Kanji Poster

  • Are you in need of a kanji poster to stick on the wall so that you can absorb the lingo even more? If the answer is "you bet" then you would be in luck because you can get your grubby mitts on this full color first grade kanji tapestry wall scroll for free (0yen) with any purchase of Moekanji from the AmiAmi website.
Furthermore they are taking pre-orders of Moekanji for 1,960 yen which is more than 500 yen off the retail price. The rock bottom low yen right now also makes it a great time to buy.

This photo is of the material sample that arrived the other day. The real version will have bars at the top and bottom just like this for you to hang it up.

    A closer look at the material. This is the list of kanji which covers the first grade - learn from the cards and then from the scroll too. You can do what I did when I was learning Japanese - I had one in the toilet so that I could do my mineral deposit and learn at the same time ^^;

Size of the tapestry is about 33cm x 14cm and features the illustration of Mirai Suenaga by Koizumi Amane-sensei and Moekana/Moekanji illustrator Ikkyuu-sensei.

Remember - this tapestry is free with all purchases of Moekana only from AmiAmi!

If you still dont know what Moekanji is then read all about the Japanese kanji learning product.

If you are not bothered about the tapestry then you can order from any of the following trusted online retailers.

Thanks to everybody who has already pre-ordered Moekanji - over 10,000 pre-orders so far!
I hope you enjoy learning kanji from Moekanji just as much as my team and I enjoyed developing it.

My previous Japanese learning product Moekana has been selling well of late too - I think its because you need knowledge of Hiragana to be able to learn from Moekanji. Another reason is probably because folks would rather fill up their order with something decent before its shipped.
You can check out more about Moekana here.

  • 04/27/13--01:18: Iron Man 3 Review

  • Iron Man 3 [アイアンマン3] came out in Japan yesterday and I'd thought I go and see it with a few readers at Kawazaki Lazona. Posted a note on Facebook and folks from America, Malaysia, Germany, India, Netherlands, Canada and Singapore came along. Was great to meet so many new comrades!

As for Iron Man 3 - was pretty awesome packed with a load of scenes that give you the "I wish I was Iron Man" feeling ^^; I do occasionally check up on Ebay but have never been able to find a decent looking suit that you can actually move about it.

I've loved the Iron Man series since the first instalment and have really enjoyed how the suit evolves through each movie. The new suit is awesome but I wont spoilt it for you by saying more as I didn't see any of the new capabilities in any of the trailers. Japanese trailer below.

I generally try to avoid 3D movies after watching the latest Transformers movie - I could not work out if something was transforming or exploding - was so confusing to watch ^^; But the only showing of Iron Man yesterday was the IMAX 3D showing and turned out to be pretty decent.

Bits which I enjoyed from the movie (clips can be seen in the trailer) is when all the poor souls fall out of the plane and when the zillion variations of the Iron Man suit appear on the scene. If you liked the first 2 movies then I dont think the 3rd will disappoint - just make sure you stay until the end of the credits!

Clear Files are all the rage in Japan and they were handing out free Iron Man ones to everybody who watched the movie. If you are wondering about the Iron Man Nendoroid in this photo - details here.
There is a poll embedded in this article.

One thing is for sure however - Hot Toys are going to be busy producing the zillion types of Iron Man suits that appear in the movie and it looks like they have already started.
