Theatrhythm Final Fantasy plush mascot straps spotted
On April 22, an interesting tweet was spotted from the Twitter feed of Hidemi Matsuzuka, the General Manager of the Square-Enix figure brand. It looks like plush phone mascots from Theatrhythm Final Fantasy are in the works. The Facebook gallery (from the link in the tweet) revealed pillow-like plushes of a Moogle, Chocobo, and Cactuar. Whether or not these are the only characters being made is unknown. The images show that the back of the plushes can be used to clean the screens of your devices. The mascots look pretty big when put up against the iPhone. I must confess that I was, at first, a tad disappointed that the plushes where one-dimensional. But, it dawned on me that all the characters in the game looked one-dimensional so it was actually pretty fitting. As for release dates and pricing, it was noted that in the tweet that more details were coming soon.
What are your impressions of these new plush mascots? Would you want one to adorn you phone or other electronic device?

Go Big Or Go Extinct: New Poster for 'Pacific Rim' … and other peripheral promo poster pics
"Go Big Or Go Extinct" says the new poster for "Pacific Rim", after a trio of "Recruitment"-styled posters for PPDC (Pan-Pacific Defense Corp) and two dismal "Motivational" images released online. Trick is, to keep the images "fresh", and not rehearsing imagery seen before and just slap some text over it, IMHI. Personally, I'd stick with the Jaegers, thanks! LOL

Pick up some fairies and stop humanity's decline!
It's been awhile since we've seen word of AmiAmi Zero's Jintai fairy figures, but finally, the cheeky little fellows--and Watashi herself of course--are now open to order! As expected, the group looks fantastic and pulled straight out of the show itself, though it seems like the fairies will be even tinier than expected--only a 1/2 Scale, while Watashi herself is 1/1 with her fairy form.
Still, for nearly the same price as Watashi alone, you'll get a whole bevy of fairies--six to be exact--ready to be scattered around in various places. Similar to the original series, I'd think the tiny companions may be a good workplace decoration. They're unique, if nothing else! While I'm definitely hooked on Watashi and that crazy, wonderful hair, even the slightly off-putting fairies are rather difficult to resist. Whichever you prefer, both will be arriving in August, with the fairies running you around ¥3,580, and Watashi a slightly pricier ¥3,780.

Square-Enix makes DC their own with new Play Arts Kai
If you can remember footnotes, you might recall that when the license for Man of Steel was revealed, we mentioned that Square Enix would also be making their own renditions of DC Comics characters. As one part of the announcement was finally realized, the later has now come to pass as we get our first look at the new Play Arts Kai of Batman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern.
As mentioned, these are original takes on the characters. Batman is heavily armored and has enough spikes to take 3 liters of blood upon removal from the package. Hal Jordan as the Green Lantern takes a futuristic turn, giving off more armor than we usually see. Lastly, there is the armored Wonder Woman, which of course, never features armor where it's actually appropriate.
For now, the only details are just what you see above and in the gallery. There's no price or release information, but that should be coming out shortly. They're clearly different takes but I feel rather at home with them. Nothing too crazy here, that's what Ame-Comi is for.

Giant God Warrior Appears in Tokyo
Nearly 9 minutes of a live-action short from Studio Ghibli ("Kyoshinhei Tokyo ni Arawaru") - featuring a "Giant God Warrior" which appears in the skies of Tokyo. I first featured the teaser HERE (video since been pulled tho), and now it's viewable in full, in it's original Japanese language (with no English subtitles) along with mass mayhem and destruction. This short will also be available in the Blu-ray and DVD Edition of Evangelion 3.33 "Q" You Can ( Not ) Redo", with an April 24th release ... Would love to see a tangle with "Coyote Tango" from "Pacific Rim" tho lol

PREVIOUS POST: "The Museum of Contemporary Art in Tokyo is presenting the full short as part of its "Kanchō Anno Hideaki Tokusatsu Hakubutsukan" (Curator Hideaki Anno's Special Effects Museum) exhibition - which runs from July 10 to October 8."

Iron Man 3 is coming, so let's make a Revoltech IM Mark I
Revoltech has been very successful in their mass production of Iron Man armors. From Mark II through VI, they've got them all. Iron Man 3 is on the horizon, and while it's a long way to Mark XLII, Kaiyodo is going back to the beginning with the Iron Man Mark I.
Mark I has been a bit of a hassle as far as figures have gone. The 3.75" version left a lot to be wanted, the 6" is 5 years old, and the Hot Toys edition is just too much. Revoltech is going to try to fill in the gap with their own edition and it really accentuates everything I like about the Mark I. It captures the box of scraps image quite well and the posability looks to do just about anything you'd want it to.
This figure would be about perfect if it weren't for a little matter of price. The figure is a bit taller than your standard Revoltech at just over 6", but the 4,800¥ pricetag is above normal Revos as well. It does look great and the flamethrower effect parts help to sell it, it's a hard sell to me if just for the price. I have no doubt it'll be worth it, but perhaps with some added discounts it will tempt me more. The decision to purchase won't have to be made until August 1st when its released, so maybe I'll just buy it on the high that is Iron Man 3.
