One of my 'holy grail' figures is Bandai's Soul of Chogokin Gunbuster. It's a big, hefty figure that does a great job in capturing all the great things about Gainax's classic giant robot. The problem is that it was released in 2006 for ¥19,000 and quickly sold out. Now, you'd be lucky to find it for less than ¥25,000, if you can find it at all.

Lucky for me, and for other fans of the Gunbuster, Bandai has remade the Gunbuster as part of their Super Robot Chogokin line. While it doesn't have the sheer size and the amount of accessories, it's a damn fine figure that deserves a place in your collection. Hit the jump to find out more!

For toy collectors, vintage Megos in good condition can be hard to find and difficult to afford. Now Figures Toy Company is planning to release actual replicas of Mego dolls from the 1970s. The first dolls announced for release will be Batman, Robin, The Joker, and The Riddler.

Each replica will stick to Mego's authentic style featuring their signature sculpts, cloth costumes, and 16 points of articulation. The only difference with these dolls will be that Batman and Robin's masks aren't removable. For die-hard Mego fans, I'm sure replicas can't replace the real thing, but for fans looking to have dolls to customize in their own style, these will be good.

I'm actually excited to see what other '70s dolls they'll release next. I'm hoping to see either Thor or Wonder Woman. These Mego 8-inch replicas are expected to be released in August with pricing for each doll to be US$24.99.

The Rancho Santa Fe Library was recently the recipient of 100 handmade wooden toys from the San Diego Fine Woodworkers Association, according to member Jim Vitale, who personally delivered the trains, cars, baby doll cradles and high chairs. A group of 50 retired craftsmen make and build the toys to donate to local organizations.

Funko has unveiled the characters that will make up their Pop! Television: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. Not so surprisingly, it consists of Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael, Splinter, and Shredder. You'll need to wait some time though, since these aren't slated to be released until June 6th 2013.
