Not long ago the name Transformers Go! first appeared among Japanese sources. Initial reaction across many sites was that this would be the title of the Japanese version of Transformers Prime: Beast Hunters and this made sense as Takara Tomy and Hasbro both have a history of changing show titles. Magazine scans also included a pictures of Beast Hunter figures mixed with some blacked out images, but the numbering system started with G11 rather than G01. Now we've got our first wave toy listings from various import stores and the names don't jive with what we've seen out of Beast Hunters.
Four figures are in the initial listing and they're all very uniquely Japanese named, something you don't see often anymore.
- GO1 Kenzan Samurai (police car)
- GO2 Jinbu Samurai (jet)
- GO3 Ganoh Samurai (fire truck)
- GO4 Gaidora
Samurai, eh? That certainly is in contrast to the barbarian look of Beast Hunter. Further information also says that those first three figures can be combined to make three different robot combinations. Could be that Takara Tomy plans to heavily pad the line, maybe even reboot it as an all new series. They've done stuff like that before on a smaller scale, so has Hasbro, so it wouldn't be entirely out of question.
It's a mystery, but you can be sure we'll have more info as it arrives. Store listings are saying these should be hitting around June so we shouldn't be waiting too long.
