Scale Bust of Jehuty From Z.O.E.

Zone of the Enders is often viewed as Kojima’s most underrated work. I think it is probably one of the most underrated series of all time.

To celebrate the launch of the Z.O.E. HD Collection, Konami decided to build and display a scale model of Jehuty and put it on a building in Akihabara.

If only it would open up to reveal Zone of the Enders 3 inside of it.

Circus Posterus x Tomenosuke have announced the newest Ginger sofubi variant from artist Chris Ryniak. Pickled Ginger might just be my favorite piece from the T+CP collaborations. The colors this time around feature an opaque spray of pink paint on translucent vinyl with carefully painted details. You can see this pretty little lass’ pearly white [...]

  • 02/08/13--20:27: Japan Anime Job

  • Up until now, through postings on this site and introductions that I've personally made, I've placed readers and comrades at companies in Japan such as Amazon Japan, Apple Japan, AmiAmi, Good Smile Company, Rinkya, J-List and more.

Today we got another job opening for yet another lucky person to join the ranks at J-List who are forever expanding their operations.

    About J-List

J-List was founded in 1996 and has been an extremely successful venture, serving over 500,000 customers and bringing unique products to people outside of Japan. We strive to promote understanding of Japan through popular culture.

The company is based in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, a small city of 200,000 located on the edge of the Kanto Plain near Tokyo (about 2 hours away by slow train, 45 minutes by Shinkansen). It is a nice city with many cultural points of interest, one of the lowest cost-of-living ratings in Japan, and fast access to mountains for many fun activities including hot springs.

This is Peter Payne - the big boss of J-list. A comrade who lives in Japan who I have been working with for many moons now. I previously placed a reader at his company and now he needs your help again. The opening is for a product description copywriter and customer support assistant. Your work will also involve various tasks using Photoshop, such as preparing product images and creating simple web banners for advertisement.

    • Effective and professional writing skills, and the ability to efficiently create descriptions for products. Fast touch typing skills are a plus.
    • Knowledge of popular anime and/or manga series, especially currently airing and trending series, as well as a familiarity with the international fan community.
    • Knowledge of anime, manga and Japan related memes, particularly those created by websites such as Pixiv, 2ch, Nico Nico Douga, and 4chan would be preferred.
    • Familiarity with Photoshop and the ability to manipulate scanned product images.
    • Japanese ability equal to JLPT level 2 or higher.
    • Only accepting applications from native English speakers who are already in Japan with a legal work visa. Upon employment, future sponsorship and extensions will be made.

Base salary is initially 240,000 yen-260,000 yen per month depending on experience, plus twice-annual bonuses based on personal and overall company performance, with annual raises and flexible vacation time. Additionally, a company car will be provided (gasoline and related expenses are not covered), along with assistance in acquiring an apartment.

    How to Apply

Download this application form and once filled in, send it along with your resume directly to Peter at peterpayne[att]gmail[dott]com.

And as for that resume - I've uploaded my previous resume for you to use for free - you can download it from this post.

    There are many resume templates that you can download from the Internets but I thought I'd share a tried and tested resume format that got me jobs at companies like Amazon and Microsoft and interview/job offers from Google and Apple - which I turned down to go to Microsoft ^^;
Anyway, the word file for the my CV is in this post - feel free to use it.

Going to leave you with some photos taken around the fun environment at the J-List offices.
If you are applying for the postion then good luck! Buy me a Cafe Mocha from Starbucks if you get the job ^^

Just wondering though - what sort of job would be your dream job?
There is a poll embedded in this article.

Looks like it's Labbit-season at the coming "I Like To Eat Too" solo show by Motorbot at Dragatomi, launching Feb 9th - featuring loads of food textures and delectable Labbit-butts in fruity and desserts-customs … *YUM*

IDEA: They should make a "Cookbook" out of this! Make a small print quantity and sell it at the show and online - for folks who can't afford full customs (*raises hands*) but would like to take away a slice of the awesomeness, IMHO.

Here we have a look at Tracy Tubera’s piece for the Bait x Street Fighter event taking place this Saturday, February 9th. The “Way of the Dragon” piece will also be available as a limited run of 25 pieces, which are printed on 13“ x 19” archival watercolor paper and...

JC Rivera (Facebook) shares with us his latest custom - featuring a 'Muttpop' Tequila x coarse PAW mash up, did at a collector's request. This is the "cleanest" I've ever seen of JC's work too, without the tonal graduations of his other paint-jobs, IMHO. JC adds: "I wanted to highlight the best of both figures well. It was a really fun custom to do."

Sometimes you just totally enjoy what you're designing. Such was the case with my new "It's Raining Baby Showers" penny rug wool felt baby pictures.

I had been wanting to create wool felt penny rug type pictures for my "It's Raining Baby Showers" baby shower decorations line and thought that pictures with baby heads in buntings raining down under umbrellas would be cute.

I thought they'd make cheery and adorable pictures to decorate a baby girls or baby boys nursery or to decorate a baby girls or baby boys baby shower? It's raining babies, rattles, umbrella's, and rain drops.

It's Raining Baby Boys is a pattern to create an  8/12" by 11" penny rug pink wool felt picture mounted on a pink 11" by 14" foam backboard and framed within a 16" by 18" white washed white table top frame. Three baby girls bundled in baby buntings and three baby boys bundled in baby buntings are raining down under a delightful blue decorated and embroidered wool felt umbrella. Yellow rattles decorated with ribbon bows and rain drops are scattered throughout the picture.

The wool felt picture is made from two blue pieces of wool felt (8 1/2" by 11") which are blanket stitched around all the edges. The blue umbrella is embellished with bright blue bows and embroidered with accent lines.  The baby heads have embroidered and blushed cheek faces, yarn for hair, creme felt buntings, and ribbon bows for decorations.

The pattern can be made as just a penny rug wool felt blanket stitched picture or enclosed within a wall picture frame or tabletop picture frame.

For more information on and to purchase my "It's Raining Baby Boys" e-pattern please CLICK HERE.
